The club announced on its official X account: 'First-team player Steven Bergwijn suffered an injury after falling inside his home last night, resulting in wounds to his leg and hand.'
Al-Ittihad's medical team responded immediately, with the team doctor accompanying Bergwijn to International Medical Center for treatment. The winger received stitches at the injury site before being discharged.
Bergwijn has been granted a brief medical leave and is expected to return to training in the coming days. However, he will miss Al-Ittihad's clash against Al-Khaleej on Wednesday in the 22nd round of the Saudi Pro League.
