SINGAPORE – Motorists are advised to avoid parts of the city on July 5, 12 and 19, as road closures will be in place for the National Day Parade 2025 National Education (NE) Shows.
The closures will affect key routes leading to and around the Padang, where the shows will be held, said the police in a media release on July 3.
Traffic delays are expected along Beach Road, Bras Basah Road, Collyer Quay, Guillemard Road, Hill Street, Mountbatten Road, North Bridge Road, Raffles Avenue, Raffles Boulevard, Republic Boulevard, Temasek Avenue, Temasek Boulevard and Victoria Street.
Alternative routes via Bayfront Avenue or Rochor Road leading to Temasek Boulevard are recommended for those heading to Suntec City and Marina Square from Bras Basah Road.
Parking restrictions along affected roads will also be strictly enforced, with illegally parked vehicles to be towed away. Members of the public travelling to these areas are strongly encouraged to use public transport.
The annual NE Show is a National Day Parade preview specially organised for Primary 5 pupils to foster national pride and understanding of Singapore's history. It is typically held on the three Saturdays leading up to National Day.
In conjunction with the road closures, several SMRT bus services will be temporarily diverted on all three Saturdays.
Service 502 will skip stops along Bayfront Avenue, Bras Basah Road, Temasek Avenue and Temasek Boulevard between 8am and 11.59pm.
Services 960 and 960e will skip several stops along Raffles Avenue and Beach Road during the same period, while Service 961 will skip stops along Beach Road, North Bridge Road and Parliament Place from first bus to last bus.
Service 61 will also be affected near The Treasury on North Bridge Road between 1pm and 3pm, and again from 6.30pm to 8pm.
The police said only authorised vehicles and emergency services will be allowed access during road closures. Officers from the police, Singapore Armed Forces, auxiliary police, and security firms will be deployed at affected junctions to assist motorists.

NDP 2025: Police reopen all areas in Marina Bay with easing of crowds

SINGAPORE – All locations around the Marina Bay are now open to the public, after the police closed 11 areas earlier due to large crowds gathered for the National Day Parade 2025. 'The crowd situation at the waterfront areas around the Marina Bay has eased and all areas are now reopened to the public,' said the police in a Facebook post at about 9.20pm on Aug 9. The public can check the live Crowd@Marina Bay map at and the police's Facebook page for the latest crowd information. NDP 2025: Public advised to arrive early for parade amid road closures and enhanced security

SINGAPORE - Those attending the National Day Parade on Aug 9 are encouraged to arrive early amid road closures and enhanced security. The 2025 parade will span two venues – the Padang and Marina Bay. Those attending the NDP show at the Padang are advised to arrive early to allow ample time for security checks, and to enter via the assigned entrance indicated on their tickets, the police said in a statement on Aug 6. Spectators are advised to minimise the number of personal belongings on hand, to facilitate safety checks. Each ticket holder will receive an NDP Pack, which includes items such as water and light snacks. Any container – 100ml or larger – containing liquid, aerosol or gel will be subject to additional checks, while canned items will not be allowed into the venue. The police added that action will be taken against anyone who attempts to bring in prohibited items, including firearms, fireworks, knuckle dusters and handcuffs. The area around the Padang has also been designated a 'special event area', where the flying of unmanned aircraft, including drones, is strictly prohibited. To prevent overcrowding, police officers and other uniformed personnel will help to regulate the flow of the crowd at areas including the Esplanade Waterfront, Jubilee Bridge, Merlion Park, One Fullerton Waterfront, Marina Boulevard Promenade, Marina Bay Sands Waterfront and Helix Bridge. Those hoping to watch the parade from Marina Bay should check a crowd map at to view real-time crowd levels, and any areas that may be closed due to crowd build-up. The Crowd@Marina Bay map will be available online and on TV screens at selected MRT stations from 5pm to 10.30pm on Aug 9. From 7pm to 10.30pm on Aug 9, people can also use the OneMap app on their mobile phones for recommended walking routes to navigate the Marina Bay area. In addition, certain entrances and exits of MRT stations around the Marina Bay area will be closed to regulate crowd flow. In the event of overcrowding, trains may bypass affected stations, such as Bayfront MRT station. MRT stations including Bayfront, City Hall, Esplanade and Raffles Place MRT stations are expected to be very crowded, the police said. Members of the public are encouraged to use other nearby MRT stations such as Promenade, Downtown and Marina Bay MRT stations. Traffic arrangements To facilitate the event, selected roads and lanes in the Marina Bay area will be closed to vehicular traffic on Aug 9 and 10. During the closure, access will be granted only to authorised vehicles as well as police and emergency vehicles. Uniformed officers will be stationed at affected junctions to help regulate vehicular traffic. Traffic delays are expected along Battery Road, Beach Road, Bras Basah Road, Collyer Quay, Guillemard Road, Hill Street, Marina Boulevard, Mountbatten Road, North Bridge Road, Ophir Road, Raffles Avenue, Raffles Boulevard, Raffles Link, Republic Boulevard, Rochor Road, Temasek Avenue, Temasek Boulevard and Victoria Street. Similarly, motorists proceeding to Suntec City and Marina Square from Bras Basah Road, Esplanade Drive, Nicoll Highway or Raffles Boulevard are to use alternative routes via Bayfront Avenue or Rochor Road leading to Temasek Boulevard. Members of the public headed to the area are also strongly encouraged to use public transport, while vehicles parked illegally will be towed, the police added. Post-event dispersal After the parade ends, dispersal is likely to be slow due to the large crowds expected around the Padang and in the Marina Bay area, said the police. Members of the public are advised to be patient and to follow the directions of marshals and the police. For further inquiries, the public may contact the NDP organisers via 1800-637-2025. Ryde Strengthens Driver-Partner Retention Strategy with Singapore National Day Initiative

Invests in driver-partner loyalty programs as key competitive differentiator in Singapore SINGAPORE, SG / ACCESS Newswire / August 6, 2025 / Ryde Group Ltd (NYSE American: RYDE) ('Ryde'' or the 'Company'), a leading platform for mobility and quick commerce, announced the successful completion of its Singapore National Day driver engagement initiative, part of the Company's strategic focus on driver retention and platform differentiation in Singapore's highly competitive mobility market. This initiative, celebrating Singapore's 60th independence anniversary and the vital role played by driver-partners in building a more connected and inclusive Singapore, demonstrates Ryde's data-driven approach to driver loyalty-a critical factor for sustainable growth and competitive positioning in the mobility sector. With over 600 driver-partners invited to collect limited-edition black National Day T-shirts and Ryde decals through a convenient drive-by pick-up point on Victoria Street, the program reinforces Ryde's strategy to differentiate through superior driver experience and community engagement. Driver-partners appreciated the convenience of the setup, which allowed them to collect their commemorative items without disrupting their daily schedules-a testament to Ryde's understanding of their operational needs. 'This National Day initiative represents more than celebration-it's a strategic investment in our most valuable asset: our driver-partner network,' said Suraj Raj, Senior Manager, Group Corporate Communications & Branding of Ryde Group. 'With strong driver participation rates, we are continuing to see direct correlation between community investment and key business metrics. This strategic approach to driver-partner relations positions us for sustainable growth in Singapore and beyond.' Strategic Driver-Partner Retention Drives Competitive Advantage The National Day event is part of Ryde's broader strategy to actively engage and empower its driver-partner community. It follows a series of successful initiatives including the Annual CNY Lunch, the #RydeHongbao red packet giveaway, and the #MakanWithRyde food drive-all of which aim to foster stronger bonds, uplift morale, and build long-term loyalty. This comprehensive approach to community building sets Ryde apart in Singapore's competitive ride-hailing landscape. While other platforms focus primarily on transactional relationships, Ryde invests in creating meaningful connections that extend beyond daily operations. The company's consistent year-round engagement strategy has resulted in higher driver retention rates and increased platform advocacy among its driver-partner community. Ms. Siti, a veteran Ryde driver-partner, shared her enthusiasm: 'This SG60 celebration is more than just a giveaway-it's about recognition, inclusion, and pride. Ryde continues to show they value us not just as service providers, but as part of something bigger. Wearing this National Day shirt makes me proud to represent both Singapore and Ryde.' Another driver-partner, Mr. Ismail, expressed his appreciation: 'After driving for many platforms, Ryde truly stands out. This SG60 event shows they remember us during important national moments. It makes me feel valued and part of the Singapore story.' Zero-Commission Model Creates Sustainable Competitive Moat Central to Ryde's driver-partner retention strategy is its industry-leading 0% commission model, which allows driver-partners to retain most of their earnings. This structural advantage creates a significant competitive moat in Singapore where major competitors extract over 20% commissions, directly impacting driver-partners' take-home earnings. The zero-commission approach, combined with community engagement initiatives, generates a 'dual-value proposition' that addresses both financial and psychological driver-partner needs. This model has proven particularly effective in attracting high-quality, professional drivers who value transparent compensation structures and community recognition. Our focus is on building sustainable competitive advantages through driver-centric policies that prioritize long-term retention over short-term acquisition metrics. ESG Commitment and Sustainable Development Ryde's community-focused efforts also contribute to broader Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals, aligning with key UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Growth Strategy and Market Expansion Outlook As Singapore marks 60 years of independence, Ryde continues to renew its commitment to building a more equitable, community-driven platform-one where driver-partners are heard, respected, and empowered to thrive alongside the nation's continued growth. Moving forward, Ryde plans to introduce additional community engagement initiatives that celebrate both local culture and driver-partner contributions. The company remains committed to its vision of creating a mobility ecosystem where technology serves humanity, communities are strengthened, and every stakeholder-from driver-partners to riders-benefits from a more connected Singapore. As competition for quality driver-partners intensifies across Southeast Asian mobility markets, retention-focused strategies become increasingly valuable for maintaining competitive positioning and achieving sustainable profitability targets. Ryde's community-first approach offers particular advantages in culturally diverse markets where local engagement and brand trust significantly impact adoption rates.
