Air India and AI Express offer full refunds and one-time rescheduling for defence fare bookings till 31 May 2025, amid recent military strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and PoK

Air India and Air India Express have offered free rescheduling of tickets or full refunds on cancellations for armed forces personnel who have bookings with the airlines.
The announcement came against the backdrop of India's armed forces destroying nine terrorist infrastructures, including that of Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Taiba, in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in a 25-minute-long missile and drone strike early on Wednesday.
"In the prevailing situation, for those personnel holding defence fares who are booked on Air India and Air India Express flights till 31 May 2025, we are offering full refunds on cancellation and a one-time waiver on rescheduling flights up to 30 June 2025 to support their duty commitments," Air India said in a post on X on Wednesday.
A similar post was also shared by Air India Express.

It was because of this stance that Congress's discord became public after Tharoor was assigned the leadership of the delegation. If the Modi government had included only BJP and National Democratic Alliance (NDA) MPs in the delegation, the Congress's opposition would have been understandable. When that did not happen, the Congress leadership baselessly and unnecessarily blamed the Modi government on the delegation issue. There was no reason for Congress to be so hesitant about Tharoor's inclusion. This made a mockery of the Congress party. Tharoor has been openly praising the Modi government on various platforms after 'Operation Sindoor'. Some Congress leaders also complained about Tharoor over this. It was not expected that on one hand Rahul Gandhi would ask questions like how many Indian aircrafts have fallen down while on the other hand he would show the generosity of supporting the all-party delegation. As expected, this stance of Rahul Gandhi was well received in Pakistan. Terrorist leaders like Hafiz Saeed showered Rahul Gandhi with praise. India decided to call a ceasefire after receiving a proposal from Pakistan. Rahul tried to politicize that too. The Pakistan government itself has given information about which of its military bases were damaged due to India's attack. Despite the fact that Pakistan, which claims to have shot down Indian planes, has not been able to produce a single piece of evidence, Rahul Gandhi continues to trumpet and ask about how many Indian planes have been shot down. Air India ends full-service flights at Manipur's Imphal; low-cost wing AI Express to continue services
The Tata Group-owned full-service airline Air India has ended its operations at Manipur's Imphal International Airport from 15 June 2025, reported the news agency PTI, citing Airport Authority of India (AAI) officials on Monday, 16 June 2025. According to the agency report, the company's low-cost carrier, Air India Express, will continue serving the routes from the North Eastern State. The company's move was allegedly a long-standing and pre-planned decision. 'It is part of a long-standing, pre-planned strategic decision by the airline, and is in no way related to any recent incident,' one of the airport officials told the news agency. Another official highlighted that the company is carrying out 'strategic realignment' measures after the Tata Group is putting efforts to turn around the company. 'The move is part of a broader strategic realignment by the Tata Group, which owns the airline. Air India Express, the group's low-cost subsidiary, will continue its operations at Imphal, signalling a shift in service model but ensuring continued air connectivity,' the official told the news agency. This development comes after an Ahmedabad-London flight, AI 171, crashed after taking off from the Indian airport last week, claiming the lives of 241 souls on board. Only one passenger made it out alive, and many people were injured around the location where the aircraft landed on 12 June 2025. The officials cited in the agency report, however, said that the move to roll back operations of the full-service carrier from the Imphal airport is not due to the recent incident and is part of the company's plan from earlier. On 12 June 2025, the Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft crashed in Ahmedabad's Meghani Nagar area around 1:40 p.m. The incident also killed five MBBS doctors, one PG resident doctor, and the wife of a senior doctor at the medical college. Investigations are still underway to determine the cause of the Air India plane crash, with aviation and regulatory experts considering factors such as engine failure or technical issues during takeoff. 'To lose a single person we know is a tragedy, but for so many deaths to occur at once is incomprehensible. This is one of the darkest days in the Tata Group's history,' said N. Chandrasekaran, the Chairman of the Tata Group of companies, in an internal letter to employees.
