Parents blasted for leaving sleeping child in a buggy alone while they go on a RIDE at Chessington theme park

IT'S the summer holidays - theme parks are heaving, queues are long, and parents across the country are doing their best to keep the kids entertained. But one shocking video has sparked a furious debate over just how far some 2 The parents were attending Chessington World of Adventures Credit: Alamy A TikTok clip filmed at Chessington World of Adventures has gone viral after capturing what appears to be a sleeping toddler left alone in a buggy while their parents allegedly hopped on a ride. The video, shared four days ago by user @ Since it was posted, it's racked up a staggering 769,600 views and 521 comments, with many users slamming the behaviour that is being blasted as just 'wrong.' Sharing their shock, the video was captioned with: 'cannot believe someone done this!' READ MORE ON SUMMER HOLIDAYS According to the video's creator, the parents had gone on the ride themselves, leaving the buggy - and the baby - behind. Although some users tried to defend the decision, saying that they're sure it was 'fine', the majority were appalled. One wrote: 'Will never understand why they take the child who's too young for the rides (or kids under a certain age) if they don't have enough adults to stay with the younger ones and leave their kids in crowded environments just so they can selfishly go on the rides.' A second added: 'Not only would the baby be incredibly scared waking up to not see its parents, not being funny but someone could literally push that stroller away with the baby in it and I don't even wanna think of what could happen after that. Most read in Fabulous 'These parents shouldn't have a baby if they can't look after one end of the [day].' While a third said: 'I bring my baby to the bathroom in my house cause I panic she's gonna wake up and panic. Seeing this just made me so sad.' Experience the Best of British thrills by exploring the top theme parks across the UK However, some also pointed the finger at onlookers and wrote: 'To be fair everyone walking past the child is also at fault here. 'If everyone could see the child had been left alone…why did no one actually step in and help by alerting a staff member.' The park's official guidelines clearly state that children must be supervised at all times. Brit parents bugbear As families across the UK embark on summer outings, a new poll reveals the top frustrations that can turn a daytrip dream into a nightmare. According Other common annoyances cited by parents range from being stuck in sweltering traffic to lugging around heavy cool-boxes and enduring seemingly endless queues. These perennial problems are making a significant number of parents rethink their holiday plans, with 32 per cent admitting they'd prefer to spend more time relaxing at home during the school break. 2 The video shows the child sleeping in the buggy on their own Credit: tiktok/@coachrobcradds How to survive six weeks of school summer holidays IF you are struggling with the six week summer holidays, you've come to the right place... BATTLING BOREDOM: Despite hours of activities and playdates, if your kids are already complaining there's nothing to do, parenting expert Liat Hughes Joshi says: 'Don't feel you have to organise every second of the holidays. Kids benefit from boredom and learn to make their own fun. 'Boredom can trigger creative and imaginative play but you need to encourage kids to get used to not being told how to spend their time. 'Ride out the pleas of boredom. Counter it with comments such as, 'What do you think you could do?' and maybe have a list of 'I'm bored' activity ideas on the fridge.' SCREEN OVERLOAD: It's tempting during the holidays to rely on a digital babysitter but don't let them gawp their whole summer away in front of a screen. Liat says: 'It's unfair to expect older kids to power down but it's important to set some ground rules. 'Set family tech rules together. If you're often distracted by your phone, follow the rules too. Maybe tell the kids they aren't allowed any screen time until they've done set chores, some exercise, or a board game. 'Are there times when you'd like to ban screens completely? Perhaps during dinner or when they have friends over to visit. 'Tech is a battleground for parents, but you have to set boundaries. Stand firm and be prepared to be unpopular.' TOO MUCH TOGETHERNESS: You love your kids, but being with them 24/7 can be exhausting. Do not feel guilty if you need a bit of downtime. Liat says: 'If you're juggling work and household tasks as well as occupying the kids, it's normal to start feeling overwhelmed or jaded and in need of some peace. 'If you can't afford or don't want to send your kids to all-day camps, look for free kids' workshops so you can get on with jobs or have a break for a couple of hours. 'Seeking a spell of quiet every now and then doesn't make you a bad parent — in fact it will probably make you more positive and enthusiastic when you are with the kids.' SCHEDULING CONFLICT: Schedules can go out the window during holidays, but late nights and early mornings can mean tired and unhappy children. Dr Tamara Bugembe, paediatrician and founder of says: 'Children get grumpy, test boundaries and become challenging when routines are broken. 'Sticking to some kind of routine during the holidays is a good idea. 'We release hormones at different times of the day and when regular meal times and bed times are broken, it causes dips and peaks in mood. 'Holidays are about having fun but an early night once or twice a week will make everyone happier.' EXCESS ENERGY: Make sure kids get out in the fresh air to tire them out — and make them healthier and happier. Dr Bugembe says: 'Sunshine also tops up vital vitamin D levels which helps improve bone strength and energy levels in children. Our levels run low in winter so let the kids stock up in warmer weather. 'Letting them run around in shorts and a T-shirt is the best way to top up. Make sure they're wearing sun cream, get outside and have fun. 'Encourage them to try healthy habits such as cycling and walking. They'll hopefully get hooked and want to carry them on when the weather gets colder.' Despite nearly half of parents (47 per cent) feeling the pressure from social media to orchestrate jam-packed, adventurous excursions, a substantial 79 per cent recognise the immense value of staying home. They see it as a prime opportunity to truly reconnect with their children after the whirlwind of the school year. The study further reveals a significant shift in parental preference, with 45 per cent of those surveyed claiming some of their most cherished days are spent with their children right in the comfort of their own home. This home-centric approach offers a noticeable reduction in stress for 33 per cent of parents, contributing to more relaxed days. Additionally, 14 per cent appreciate the opportunity to host playdates for their children's friends, fostering social connections in a familiar environment. And, perhaps most appealing for many, 24 per cent value the simple pleasure of being able to put their feet up on the sofa and unwind for a while. Where can kids eat for free this summer? My wild night out in Soho House with Patrick Kielty proves why he won't be single for long following Cat Deeley split

WHEN Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty announced they had ended their 13 year marriage, I was really sad. Their love story - in which best pal Patrick impulsively flew from Belfast to Los Angeles for a surprise birthday brunch for Advertisement 7 Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty announced their split yesterday - but their marriage was effectively over six months ago, friends claimed Credit: PA:Press Association 7 Kelly, pictured on a wild night with Patrick, knows he won't be single for long In a They added: 'We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected.' Growing up in Belfast I knew Patrick - who everyone there calls Paddy or PK - long before he was Mr Cat Deeley when, in fact, most people in England wouldn't have even heard of him. Advertisement And it was our link to home that led to us having a very wild night out together. I was 25 and working on a showbiz column at a national newspaper while He had just made his West End debut in A Night in November, a play about a man struggling with his religious identity in Northern Ireland after the Republic of Ireland qualified for the 1994 World Cup. Understanding the subject matter,I'd been asked to go along to review it and brought my boyfriend at the time as he was from Northern Ireland and was an old friend of Paddy's. We were also invited to attend the afterparty at the now defunct celebrity nightclub Bungalow 8. The party was jam-packed with most of Paddy's family and friends and the bar tab quickly ran out. Advertisement We caught up with Paddy, who was exasperated at how quickly everyone was sinking the free booze. He jokingly told us the club manager had advised him £2000 was usually enough for drinks for the night for a group of our size but it had gone within the hour. Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty reveal split after 13 years of marriage He remarked: 'Of course the Irish will drink the place dry especially if someone else is paying.' I can remember being so shocked at the time on my lowly salary as a junior showbiz journalist that he could afford more than four times my monthly rent for a few drinks. Later on Paddy came over and invited myself and my boyfriend to join him at Soho House on Greek Street for drinks. I had never been there before but had seen it in TV shows so was determined to go along. At that time there was only one venue in London and it was incredibly exclusive. It held such an allure for me that I was thrilled to get to go behind the velvet curtain of the member's club. Advertisement Paddy comforted me and offered me some advice 'Listen you are a lovely Belfast girl but Northern Irish boys are all bad news'. There were about eight of us in the group - myself, my boyfriend, a few girls and then Paddy, who very generously ordered us all burgers and bottles of champagne on tap. In the early hours and after a lot of fizz (in those days the club stayed open as late as the members wanted it to with much more relaxed closing times) I returned from the toilet to find one of the extremely beautiful girls that was with us sitting on my boyfriend's knee. 'BIT OF AN EEJIT' He had been incredibly flirty with her all night and I was upset at the sight before me. I went to the toilet to compose myself (and ring my best friend who lived in America at the time for advice on how to handle the situation). When I came outside Paddy was waiting for me at the door. 'I thought you might be upset so I wanted to check you were alright. He's getting on like a bit of an eejit so I don't think you should go in there.' Advertisement I will admit by this stage of inebriation and being quite young and upset that my boyfriend wasn't behaving well, I started to cry. 7 Paddy comforted Kelly over some relationship drama and told her: 'Listen you are a lovely Belfast girl but Northern Irish boys are all bad news. Even me!' 7 Their relationship seemed to change when they moved back from the US Credit: BBC 7 Cat and Patrick met on the set of BBC One talent show Fame Academy in 2002 Credit: BBC Paddy comforted me and offered me some advice 'Listen you are a lovely Belfast girl but Northern Irish boys are all bad news. Even me! I can tell that one is a player. He's not good for you.' Advertisement He then told me that despite wanting to go in and cause a whole row over his behaviour, that the better thing to do would be to just do an 'Irish exit' and go home without saying goodbye and keep my dignity and leave him wondering where I went. He even called me an Addison Lee taxi on account and told them to take me wherever I needed to go. This is before Ubers so I NEVER got taxis and always navigated numerous night buses to get home. CAT'S CAREER 1997 : Cat gets her TV break presenting MTV's chart show Hitlist UK alongside Edith Bowman. 1998 — 2005: She hits the big time with sketch comedy series SM:TV Live and music show CD:UK with Ant & Dec on ITV. 2002 — 2003: Cat starts co-hosting two series of Fame Academy on BBC One with Patrick Kielty. 2006 : She bags job fronting long-running US reality show So You Think You Can Dance. 2024 : Starts co-hosting ITV's This Morning with Ben Shephard. He was right of course and I was grateful to get home safely to my bed without causing a scene. A few weeks later I was chatting to my fellow Northern Irish pal, She was living in LA at the time and dating Desperate Housewives hunk Jesse Meltcalfe. Advertisement They had got into a row in a club and Paddy, who was also there, came over and encouraged the Girls Aloud star to get the upper hand by just leaving instead of continuing fighting. We chuckled that Paddy actually spoke about Nadine and the sexy gardener's bust up back in 2007 on Chris Moyles Breakfast Show on BBC1 Radio 1. SUPERHERO PADDY He said: "I've known Nadine for years. She and Jesse are always bickering. They had an argument in a club one night and I ended up dropping her home, so he wasn't that impressed with me. "Then I bumped into them in this hotel foyer in Los Angeles and she was like 'Hey Paddy, what are you doing here? I'm going to a wee party tonight with Jesse, do you want to come?' Advertisement I bumped into Nadine at a hotel and she said, 'Hello Patrick, how are you? Have you met my boyfriend Jesse?' 'He glared and gave me that, 'You fancy my girlfriend' look. I could tell he hated me. I thought he was a bit of a tit." "And I said 'Yeah, where's the party?' and he kind of looked at me and said 'It's just off Sunset but uh, you wouldn't know where that is'." But he had a quickfire answer for the star. Paddy is always someone who will stand up for the underdog and do what is right. Kelly Allen "I used to go out to an aunt of mine in Los Angeles whenever I was 18 for the summers and I said 'Oh no, I do - I used to landscape garden out in LA' - which I had done - but he just looked at me as if I was completely taking the waz out of him because he was the landscape gardener (on TV)!" Advertisement Paddy is always someone who will stand up for the underdog and do what is right. In fact the first time I met him I was still a child and he came to my rescue. I actually was only 11 when I first bumped into him when he was an aspiring TV presenter on a local kids show called SUS in 1993. PAT'S CAREER 1991 : Patrick kicks off his stand-up comedy career at The Gasworks in Dublin. 1997 : He launches multiple shows in Ireland including show Patrick Kielty Almost Live. 2002 — 2003 : Co-hosts Fame Academy with Cat. 2005 — 2006 : He co-hosts Celebrity Love Island with Kelly Brook and then Fearne Cotton. 2012 — 2022 : Patrick makes a string of documentaries for the BBC and Northern Ireland TV shows and wins an RTS award. 2023 : He starts hosting The Late Late Show. Dreaming of working in media, my mum got me tickets to be in the audience of the filming of the show at the UTV building - on the condition I took my two little brothers with me. At six, my youngest brother Curtis was clearly too young to be there - I think we lied and said he was 10. Advertisement We were taken to a holding area and found ourselves among a gaggle of children who were all determined to get to the front of the crowd and get themselves on TV. When the floor manager finally opened the doors, there was a rush to get into the studio and blag the best spot. In their haste, some bigger children pushed my brother over. Even now thinking back it was terrifying as he was on the floor and kids were running over the top of him. Suddenly the dressing room door opened and Paddy walked out and, clocking what happened yelled 'Everyone stop'. 7 For the past two years, Patrick has spent much of his time in Dublin where he hosts The Late Late Show Credit: PA 7 Cat started hosting This Morning from March last year with co-host Ben Shephard Credit: Rex Advertisement And everyone did. He yanked my brother to his feet and said 'Are you alright fella? Do you want to walk in with me?' We smugly were escorted by Paddy to the front of the audience and everyone we knew saw us on TV. Despite his warning to me that he was 'bad news' I've never seen evidence of it. I've bumped into Paddy more over the years and he's always that same chatty local lad I met back in the 90s. In fact the last time I saw him in November 2022 he was hosting a quiz for Tourism Ireland and complimented me for my excellent knowledge about Tayto crisps. We won of course. Advertisement Speaking previously she said: 'He rang me from a pub in Ireland. Bear in mind it was probably about 2 o'clock in the morning because they had had a lock-in. I told him I was having a birthday brunch at the Beverley Hills Hotel to which he said 'I'll see you there'. He went home, set his alarm for 5am, got up, went to the airport, flew from Belfast to London then jumped on the first plane from London to LA.' I've no doubt the funnyman, who has always been the most consummate gentleman to every woman I know, will be snapped up quickly. After all, how many men exist that would do such a grand gesture as that? Advertisement
