Yahoo19-05-2025

EXCLUSIVE: Kids TV industry veteran Paul Robinson is exiting his role as President of Kartoon Channel Worldwide, we've learned.
Robinson has decided to leave the post in mid-June after three years overseeing Kartoon Channel's expansion into key markets. Under his leadership, the international FAST network went from zero to 68 territories outside the U.S., with deals across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Latin America.

The news also comes soon after deals were struck to launch the children's network, which is part of Andy Heyward's Kartoon Studios International, on Samsung TV Plus in the UK and Ireland, Spain and Italy and with connected TV operators LG and HiSense.
'I am proud of the work I have done with Kartoon Studios over the last three years and with the Kartoon Channel in a strong position, I feel now is the right time to step away and try something new,' said Robinson.
'Having built and grown several globally internationally recognised kids brands through my time at Disney, NBCU's KidsCo and now Kartoon, this is the optimal time to take on to new challenges and opportunities.'
Robinson told Deadline the exit would allow him the 'opportunity to focus on developing various new kids' IPs as well as take on challenges with new and potential clients and expand my advisory and public speaking commitments outside kids TV.'
The Kartoon Channel Presidency post was one of several consultancy-type positions Robinson has held over recent years through his Creative Media Partners imprint, alongside roles at India's Tata Elxsi and podcast and radio industry events business Radio Days.
Robinson is well known for building out networks businesses for the likes of Disney Channels Worldwide, where he was Managing Director between 1998 and 2003. In that role, he launched Disney's kids TV business in the UK and also acted as a worldwide strategy consultant for ABC. He later founded international children's channel KidsCo, which was ultimately subsumed into Universal Kids and then went on to join Germany's YourFamily Entertainment to expand its channels business internationally after a spell as CEO of The Radio Academy.
He joined Kartoon in at the start of 2022 and has led its expansion since then, juggling the role with radio presenting duties and other media roles.
'In a challenging media landscape, we've made inroads into diverse markets from Australia and New Zealand to India, and the United Arab Emirates building awareness with the Kartoon brand,' said Robinson. 'We've also taken our Kidaverse Roblox Rumble original, which I championed, across the globe to the delight of kids. I am immensely proud of what the international team under my leadership have achieved and look forward to seeing how Kartoon Studios continues to grow and evolve in the years ahead.'
Kartoon Studios owns the Stan Lee brand and has been developing animated feature films with GFM Films based on the late Marvel guru's characters. It is also working on a slate of Winnie-the-Pooh series and films that will roll out on Kartoon Channel on Amazon's Prime Video Channels platform.

Paramount Cutting Another 3.5% Of Its Domestic Workforce, Citing Linear TV Declines And Broader Economy

Paramount Global, which last year shed 15% of its U.S. workforce, said Tuesday it will reduce it by another 3.5%. The cuts will take effect Tuesday, according to a memo from Co-CEOs George Cheeks, Chris McCarthy and Brian Robbins that was obtained by Deadline. More from Deadline Paramount Global CFO Naveen Chopra Is Departing '60 Minutes' Correspondent Scott Pelley Says Trump Lawsuit Settlement & Apology Would Be "Very Damaging" To Reputation Of CBS And Paramount Shari Redstone Reveals She Is Undergoing Treatment For Thyroid Cancer 'As we navigate the continued industry-wide linear declines and dynamic macro-economic environment, while prioritizing investments in our growing streaming business, we are taking the hard, but necessary steps to further streamline our organization starting this week,' the execs wrote. Paramount is still in a protracted waiting game as it looks to close its $8 billion merger with Skydance Media. The transaction was proposed last summer and needs only the approval of the FCC in order to close, but it now appears unlikely to close in the first half of the year as the companies had projected. President Donald Trump's crusade against the media (in this case CBS News) is holding up the deal despite the fact that Paramount controlling shareholder Shari Redstone and Skydance backer Larry Ellison are longtime Trump supporters. Along with filing a $20 billion lawsuit over routine business activities at 60 Minutes, Trump's appointee to chair the FCC, Brendan Carr, has slow-walked the agency's review of the merger. While mediation talks are ongoing in the lawsuit, hopes have not recently been high for a near-term settlement. While the new layoffs are targeting domestic workers, the Co-CEOs said they 'may also result in some impacts to our workforce outside the U.S. over time.' At the end of 2024, Paramount had 18,600 global employees, with Tuesday's cutbacks affecting several hundred in the U.S. As opposed to the multi-phase layoffs last year, which were announced in the summer and wrapped by year-end, the new round is taking effect Tuesday. 'We recognize how difficult this is and are very thankful for everyone's hard work and contributions,' the CEOs wrote. 'These changes are necessary to address the environment we are operating in and best position Paramount for success.' The shrinking of Paramount's workforce reflects contraction across the entire media sector, with Disney recently announcing a fresh round of cuts as companies reckon with cord-cutting's hit to their pay-TV revenues. Deadline's Sound & Screen At SXSW London Saw Honor For Oscar Winner Anne Dudley And Music From ‘Chad Powers', ‘Shrinking' & More

Deadline's Sound & Screen event made its London debut during SXSW London on Saturday, honoring Oscar-winning composer Anne Dudley and featuring live performances from hit screen projects, including Shrinking and Arcane. On a rainy summer's day in London, Deadline provided a ray of musical sunshine for a packed audience at the historic Shoreditch Church. Dudley, who won an Academy prize for her work on The Full Monty, took to the stage to perform a medley of her work, including Poldark and Jeeves and Wooster. More from Deadline 'Cielo' Producers Talk Opportunities & Challenges Of Shooting In Bolivia: "It's Such An Extraordinary And Diverse Landscape" Tony Awards 2025: The Musical Performances Deadline's Tony Awards Live Blog She was awarded Sound & Screen's inaugural Impact Award, with Baz Bamigboye, Deadline columnist and master of ceremonies, presenting her with the prize following her performance. Dudley said the award would sit alongside her Oscar, Grammy, Brit, and Ivor Novello prizes, telling Bamigboye that there had been a 'sea change' in the opportunities for women in music and film. She also looked ahead to her next project, PBS Masterpiece's sweeping period drama The Forsytes, which is due to premiere this year. Dudley confirmed a second series is filming this summer. The lineup also included the composers: Natalie Holt with Chad Powers; Tom Howe with Shrinking and Dog Man; Nainita Desai with Love & Rage: Munroe Bergdorf and Secrets of the Penguin; and Alex Seaver with Arcane. Howe revealed that he planned to be involved in Season 4 of Ted Lasso, building on his work on previous seasons of Apple TV+'s Emmy-winning series. Filming starts in July/August, Howe confirmed, after he performed music from Shrinking, which is also featured on Apple. Elsewhere, Desai talked about her love of scoring natural history and why she felt connected to Love & Rage: Munroe Bergdorf, the documentary that premiered at SXSW on Friday. Holt discussed getting her head around American Football for Chad Powers, the upcoming Hulu series starring Glen Powell. Desai summed up her role like this: 'With film and TV composers, we have this kind of superpower. We have this ability to be able to manipulate people's emotions and make them feel something.' Fittingly, as Sound & Screen reached London, there was a musical tribute to Abbey Road, the iconic recording studio nestled in the north-west of the English capital. Instantly recognizable feature scores for Harry Potter, Goldeneye, and Jurassic World were performed. Mirek Stiles, head of audio products at Abbey Road Studios, told Deadline's Stewart Clarke that there were ongoing 'conversations' with Sam Mendes about recording the score for his four Beatles films at the studio. The Music Box Ensemble provided the orchestra for the event. Steve Morris and Marianne Haynes played violin, Triona Milne was on the viola, Chris Allen was the celloist, Kat Tinker was the pianist, Tommy Emmerton provided guitar, Chris Hill played the bass, and Ralph Salmins was on drums. Sound & Screen was produced in partnership with Abbey Road, PRS for Music, ASCAP, BMI, SCL and AWFC. { pmcCnx({ settings: { plugins: { pmcAtlasMG: { iabPlcmt: 1, }, pmcCnx: { singleAutoPlay: 'auto' } } }, playerId: "32fe25c4-79aa-406a-af44-69b41e969e71", mediaId: "e61910c9-95f0-4053-a1ad-f87c2449ee08", }).render("connatix_player_e61910c9-95f0-4053-a1ad-f87c2449ee08_2"); }); Best of Deadline Sean 'Diddy' Combs Sex-Trafficking Trial Updates: Cassie Ventura's Testimony, $10M Hotel Settlement, Drugs, Violence, & The Feds A Full Timeline Of Blake Lively & Justin Baldoni's 'It Ends With Us' Feud In Court, Online & In The Media Where To Watch All The 'John Wick' Movies: Streamers That Have All Four Films

Matthew McConaughey Shares Rare Look Into Camila Alves Marriage

Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves are forgetful when it comes to this marriage milestone. The actor shared an Access Hollywood clip to his Instagram, in which Alves says "we just had one of those moments again." McConaughey and Alves tied the knot in Austin, Texas in McConaughey and Camila Alves have been married for over a decade, but even they still forget their anniversary. In a new video posted to the actor's Instagram yesterday, McConaughey shared that while they may not remember the date, they always "try to remember the meaning." In the Access Hollywood clip, McConaughey and Alves are wished a happy 13th anniversary. The couple tied the knot in Austin, Texas in 2012. "Is that it?" the couple asks in response. "Oops, we just had one of those moments again," Alves reveals. "This joke has happened many times before and we don't mean for it to happen, but for whatever reason, Camila and I never remember our anniversary," McConaughey explains. "We've been busted in many a red carpet line." McConaughey and Alves share three children together: Levi, Vida, and Livingston, who were born in 2008, 2010, and 2012, respectively. In April, the family made a rare public appearance at the 13th annual Mack, Jack & McConaughey Gala. It marked their first red carpet outing together in a year. Matthew founded the organization with football coach Mack Brown and country singer Jack Ingram, and it has raised more than $61 million for charitable ventures, specifically organizations dedicated to children's education, health, and wellness. Matthew and Camila's eldest son is set to make his acting debut alongside Chris Pratt in Way of the Warrior Kid, Deadline reported. In his first-ever red carpet interview, Levi shared the advice he's received from his dad, whose career spans over three decades. 'I mean, he gave me a lot of advice, and he was able to mentor me in a couple different ways,' Levi told People. 'But I'd say the main thing for acting—and, pardon my French—is no bullshit in your bones and own what you're doing and make a choice regardless if that ends up being the right one or the wrong one. Commit to it, and know what you're saying.' Read the original article on InStyle
