Meeting chaired by Muftah discusses mechanism to develop civil defense performance & enhance readiness

A meeting chaired by the First Deputy Prime Minister, the esteemed scholar Mohammed Muftah, today discussed mechanisms to develop the Civil Defense Service, enhancing its ability to carry out its vital and humanitarian duties toward society with high efficiency and professionalism.
The meeting, attended by Deputy Ministers of Interior, Major General Abdulmajeed Al-Murtada; Transport and Public Works—Head of the Civil Aviation and Meteorology Authority, Yahya Al-Sayani; Electricity and Water, Adel Bader; Finance, Nasser Al-Hamadani; and Oil and Minerals, Mohammed Al-Najjar, reviewed the challenges facing the service and the ways to overcome them through providing support.
The meeting highlighted the importance of the Civil Defense's role in saving lives and protecting public and private property from natural disasters and fires, especially in light of the Israeli aggression against our country.
During the meeting, Muftah emphasized the necessity of providing various forms of support to the service, which has proven its importance through its effective response to warnings and reports during heavy rainfall, as well as its role in extinguishing fires, particularly amid the Israeli aggression on Yemen.
For his part, the Secretary-General of the Capital, Dr. Hamoud Abbad, praised the level of cooperation between the Capital Secretariat and the Civil Defense Service. He affirmed that the Civil Defense represents a humanitarian and service-oriented front dedicated to citizens' lives and receives significant attention due to the nature of its duties.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Civil Defense Service, Major General Ibrahim Al-Muayyad, explained that the service, in coordination with relevant authorities, has prepared comprehensive emergency plans that have contributed to enhancing readiness to face disasters. He stressed the service's commitment to fulfilling its duty in protecting lives and property despite the challenges it faces.

Yemen : Houthis say ready to swap all prisoners with govt
Yemen's Houthi group announced on Friday its readiness to exchange all prisoners with the Yemeni government, a significant proposal put forward by the group since the outbreak of the civil war in late 2014. The Houthi-run Saba news agency cited a statement by Abdul Qader al-Murtada, head of the Houthis' committee for prisoners' affairs, as saying that the group is prepared to carry out "a full exchange process that includes all prisoners from all parties without exception." Al-Murtada called on the Saudi government to pressure the Yemeni government "to respond to the initiative without preconditions." The internationally recognized Yemeni government is yet to comment. The Yemeni government and the Houthi group implemented a UN-mediated major prisoner swap in 2023, exchanging around 900 prisoners. Another major exchange took place in 2020, with approximately 1,000 prisoners and detainees released from both sides. Yemen has been mired in civil war since late 2014, when the Houthi group seized control of much of northern Yemen, forcing the Yemeni government out of the capital Sanaa. Clashes between the Houthis and the Yemeni government have diminished since April 2022, following a UN-mediated truce.

Following Abu Obeida's statement, demonstrations erupt in Tel Aviv demanding agreement to return prisoners from Gaza
Al-Quds – Saba: Hundreds of Zionist settlers demonstrated Saturday evening in the Israeli capital, Jaffa (Tel Aviv), demanding an end to the genocide in Gaza and a prisoner exchange deal. These demonstrations came after statements by Abu Obeida, the official spokesman for al-Qassam Brigades (the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas), in which he warned that the life of prisoner Matan Zatgauker is in danger due to the Israeli enemy army's attempt to free him, according to the Al-Mayadeen channel website. Abu Obeida categorically affirmed that the Zionist enemy will not be able to recover this prisoner alive, and if this prisoner is killed during the attempt to free him, the enemy army will be the one responsible for his death, after we preserved his life for a year and eight months. He who warns is excused." The prisoner's father, Tzatgauker, said, "I can't bear this nightmare anymore," stressing that the enemy's prime minister, the war criminal wanted by the International Criminal Court, Benjamin Netanyahu, "is using the Israeli army to continue the war and protect his government." The Hebrew website Ynet quoted the prisoner's father, Bar Kuperstein, as demanding that the criminal Netanyahu agree to a deal that would return all the prisoners. Earlier on Saturday, the Committee of Families of Israeli Prisoners in Gaza reiterated that "ending the war and reaching an agreement is the only way to return the prisoners alive." The Prisoners' Families Committee categorically rejected any partial prisoner release agreement, considering that such agreements pose a threat to their lives and waste valuable opportunities for their safe return. Hebrew media outlets quoted the committee's statements, stressing that a partial prisoner release is a dangerous concept that wastes valuable time and puts all prisoners at risk. They called for an end to the "war" and the immediate return of all prisoners at once. The prisoners' families accused the criminal Netanyahu of obstructing a comprehensive agreement for political reasons, noting that his refusal to end the "war" at this time serves his narrow political interests and does not reflect the interests of the state or the families. With American and European support, the Israeli enemy army has been committing genocidal crimes in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, resulting in the martyrdom of 54,772 Palestinian citizens, the majority of whom were children and women, and the injury of 125,834 others.
