We begin where the last episode left off, with Jimmy leaving the house by a 9-2 vote over Kelley. The two people who voted to keep Jimmy were Rachel and Ashley, though Ashley later tried to change her vote on live television. "No, no, no, no," declared host Julie Chen Moonves. As Rachel's allies were evicted one by one, she began to feel like an outcast in the Big Brother house. Thus, the impending HOH competition would be do-or-die for Rachel's game. Let's go!
Successful(?) HOH
Despite sending a player home that vowed he was never going to target her, Mickey was proud of her "successful" reign as HOH because she used her mystery power to keep herself off the block and got a big target out. It was hard for two-time player Rachel and other allies of Jimmy like Ashley and Will to understand Mickey's motivations. Ava was another potential vote to save Jimmy, but knew that the majority of the votes would be against him and so she stuck with the numbers as well.
Everyone expected Rachel to vote to save Jimmy, but they didn't see a second one coming so naturally they wanted to know who cast it. The perception was that because Jimmy hugged Ashley on the way out that she was the second vote, but she was adamant to everyone that it wasn't. The only people that know she was the vote is Rachel (who convinced her in the hallway) and Will (who she admitted it to in the hallway and warned her it was the wrong decision). Will kept Ashley's secret when asked about it by Mickey and so they wondered if someone else cast the vote in order to frame Ashley.
Yours Dearly, Ava Pearl
As the eligible houseguests prepared for the next HOH comp, the unknown second vote made many of them feel like this was the week they needed to win while Rachel and Ashley both felt like their backs would be against the wall if they didn't earn the throne. In the "Jack the Dipper" knockout style comp, the players faced off two at a time to be the quickest to answer correctly about images of "Jack" dunking chips in dips.
In the first round, Rylie eliminated Lauren then chose Zach and Kelley to face off next. In the second round, Zach eliminated Kelley then chose Morgan and Will to face off. In the third round, Will eliminated Morgan then chose Katherine and Vince to go next. In the fourth round, Vince eliminated Katherine then chose Ashley and Rachel to go head-to-head. In the fifth round, Rachel eliminated Ashley and chose Vince and Zach to go next. In the sixth round, Zach won again then brought Rachel back up to go against Keanu. In the seventh round, Rachel won again then brought Zach back up to go against Rylie. In the eighth round, Rylie eliminated Zach and brought Rachel and Will up to compete. In the ninth round, Will beat Rachel. In the tenth round, Ava beat Rylie, setting up a final round between Will and Ava. In the end, both wanted to win, but it was Will that chimed in way too early with an incorrect answer and so Ava was anointed the new Head of Household.
Soap Opera Tears
With the HOH key around her neck, Ava laid down her first rule that there'd be "no one-on-ones, I'll call you." That was a new approach for the player in charge and illuminated for the people on the opposing side of the house like Vince and Keanu that they'd have their work cut out from them to stay off the block. As soon as she could, Ava promised safety to Rachel and assured her that she has "nothing to worry about." She communicated similarly to Zach and Morgan, setting them at ease, and then named Vince, Keanu and Ashley to Mickey as her initial thoughts for noms. Ashley's name was a shock for Mickey to hear, but Ava insisted that the "chatty Catchy" can't be trusted.
Not yet knowing that he's for sure on the chopping block this week, Vince approached Rachel to try to apologize for targeting her in the comp in the hopes that it would smooth things over so that Rachel puts in a good word for him with Ava, but Rachel saw right through Vince's "soap opera tears." After drying his eyes, Vince tried the same strategy with Will, including the water works, but the crying could not move the emotions of the guy that's already been nominated twice this season.
Wanting to save Ashley from the block and hoping that Ava would go for stronger players, Will supported the idea of both Vince and Keanu up as nominations, but then named Zach as a better third option instead of Ashley. Due to her trust in both Will and Mickey, Ava took a second look at Zach and re-evaluated her personal desire to make Ashley vulnerable to eviction this week.
At the nomination ceremony, Ava revealed her final decision for nominees as Keanu, Vince and Zach. She told the room that she picked the players that were "most shaken" by her winning HOH and said that it shows none of them trust her. Unlike Vince and Zach, Keanu was okay with going on the block again because it offers him a chance to four-peat as a Power of Veto winner. Zach was angry that Ava went back on her word, but felt assured that he'd remain safe this week because he still has the chance to buy his safety with the $10,000 prize/power he won earlier in the season.

Puppies up for adoption go viral for Gen Alpha slang names. Only 'Ohio' has found a home
A Canadian animal rescue thought of a clever way to draw attention to their adoptable pets. Dubbed the "Slang Litter," six puppies went viral for their Gen alpha-inspired names, including one named "Ohio," who is the only puppy that has been adopted. Funds for Furry Friends still has five more puppies that await adoption: Sigma, Rizz, Skibidi, Cap, and Gyat. Ohio was the first and (as of Aug. 13) only puppy to be adopted from the rescue, according to the organization's website. Their Instagram post from mid-July received more than 400,000 likes in one month. "When we heard there were six tiny, squishy, helpless pups sitting in the pound—alone, confused, and likely judging our millennial slang—we dropped everything and jumped into action," the organization's Instagram caption reads. "Nothing screams 2025 like a group of pups named after TikTok vocabulary we only half understand." 'Ohio', 'Rizz', and more puppies named after Gen Alpha TikTok slang The other five puppies from the litter, who were born May 21, were still available for adoption as of Aug. 13. The description, written in true Gen Alpha fashion, describes the mixed breeds puppies as "a squad of pups who are all vibes, no cap, and 100% ready to make your home feel like a trend." If you want to adopt the pups for yourself, Funds for Furry Friends only allows animals to be adopted in person and won't ship puppies. The charity is located in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada, which is about 1,150 miles from Ohio's northwest corner, per Google Maps. The new Timothée Chalamet movie trailer is about a sport no one respects
After appearing as music icon Bob Dylan last year, the next project from Academy Award nominee Timothée Chalamet is technically about sports. The 29-year-old actor impressed fans last year by proving his knowledge as a sports fan while appearing on ESPN's College GameDay. He correctly predicted upsets and genuinely seemed like a lot of fun joking around on set. During the exciting postseason run for the New York Knicks, he was also a fixture at Madison Square Garden, even sharing a fun moment with Karl-Anthony Towns. Hopefully, he got a second to pick Towns' brain about what it's like to be a wildly disrespected athlete, because that is exactly what Chalamet will portray in his next film. More: Timothée Chalamet was offered Stephen A. Smith mentorship for an ESPN career The first trailer for the upcoming A24 project Marty Supreme released on Wednesday and it looks wild. Here is what you need to know: "Marty Mauser, a young man with a dream no one respects, goes to hell and back in pursuit of greatness." That dream, it seems, is to become a ping pong star so big that he will appear on the cover of Wheaties boxes. This is the first project from Josh Safdie (Good Time and Uncut Gems) in his solo directorial debut. Chalamet will lead in the first billing but Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A'zion, Kevin O'Leary (from Shark Tank), and Tyler, The Creator (as Tyler Okonma) will co-star. Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband's obituary reveals he was in a relationship with her former assistant
Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, was in a relationship with her former assistant before his death, his obituary reveals. According to the obituary, Blackstock – who died of melanoma earlier this month — was dating Brittney Marie Jones, who worked as a production assistant for the singer from 2016 to 2018, according to her LinkedIn profile. 'Brandon, along with his beautiful and loving partner in life and business, Brittney Marie Jones, started building a life, building companies, and working tirelessly to create Headwaters Livestock Auction and what will live on as his legacy, The Valley View Rodeo in Bozeman, Montana,' the statement reads. After 20 years in the music industry, Blackstock 'found his way back to the mountains and the cowboy way of life he always wanted to live' and moved to Butte, Montana. The talent manager shared two children — River, 11, and Remington, nine — with Clarkson, and two children —Savannah, 23, and Seth, 18 — with his ex-wife, Melissa Ashworth. 'To say he was devoted seems cliché,' the obituary reads. 'It feels like an overused word, but it is the correct word. He was a devoted father. His four children were and will always be his greatest love and his greatest legacy.' A representative for Blackstock confirmed his death in a statement to People last week. 'It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,' their statement read. 'Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family's privacy during this very difficult time.' Silver Bow County Coroner Dan Hollis confirmed on Monday that Blackstock's cause of death was melanoma, a form of skin cancer, and the manner of his death was natural causes. Days before her ex-husband passed, Clarkson had postponed the remainder of her Las Vegas residency dates for August. 'Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas,' the singer wrote in an Instagram post at the time. 'While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.' Blackstock, stepson of country star Reba McEntire, was married to Clarkson from 2013 to 2022. When finalizing her divorce, Clarkson agreed to give a one-time payment of $1.3 million to her ex-husband, along with $45,601 a month for child support. The 'Stronger' singer has spoken candidly about ending the relationship in 2020 after nearly seven years of marriage. During an appearance on the We Can Do Hard Things with Glennon Doyle podcast in 2023, she explained why she convinced herself to stay with Blackstock for as long as she did. 'I was like, 'I can do this. I can handle so much,'' she said. 'My ego is, 'I can control my actions, I can control my reactions, I can do this and I can reach this person and I can get through.' It becomes a little bit of your ego that gets in the way.'
