NHL insider Chris Johnston suggested recently that Kyle's growing business footprint in the city could influence McDavid's decision to sign an extension.
'He's put deep roots down in the city… his wife, Lauren, just opened a bar, for example, in Edmonton,' Johnston said. 'She's an entrepreneur. Has a lot of different ventures. I just think that everything points to him wanting to stay.'
Kyle's bar is one of several business moves, which also include a luxury furniture brand and a fashion collaboration with the Oilers called 'Sports Club Atelier.'

Aamir Khan 's 'Sitaare Zameen Par' released in cinemas on June 20. Now that it completes a week at the box office, it has crossed Rs 90 crore which is great for a film like this. Usually, blockbusters and those big, massy movies are expected to cross the Rs 100 crore mark on day 4 or day 5 itself. But 'Sitaare Zameen Par' clearly wasn't like Aamir's other movies - like 'Dhoom 3', or 'Ghajini' or 'Dangal'. This one was a word of mouth movie, expected to grow slowly. The film has done really well by holding up all through the week after the first Saturday and Sunday. It made Rs 10.7 crore on opening day. It saw growth on Saturday and Sunday, making Rs 20.2 crore and 27.25 crore respectively. It made Rs 8.5 crore on Monday and the same number on Tuesday as well. On day 6, Wednesday, there was a slight drop and it minted Rs 7.25 crore. Thursday also it seems like the film may make similar to Wednesday numbers or slightly less than that.
