Two Brits are arrested after 'fleeing cruise ship on Ibiza without settling £2,700 room service bill'
The pair, both in their twenties, were held on suspicion of fraud at Ibiza Airport on Wednesday after leaving the ship 'in a hurry' when it docked on the holiday island.
A spokesman for the National Police in Ibiza revealed yesterday they had been accused of attempting to wriggle out of paying a bill totalling £2,685
The force said: 'On Wednesday Spanish National Police officers arrested a man aged 23 and a woman aged 18 who are both British as the suspected authors of a crime of fraud for refusing to pay several consumptions during their stay on board a cruiser liner.
'The couple tried to leave the cruise liner in a hurry with their luggage, declining to pay the cost of expenditure linked to their holiday, around 3pm on May 21.
'The bill for various items, linked to their room, came to [£ 2,685).
'Police called to the scene interviewed crew members who told them the alleged offenders had tried to push their way off the ship in their attempts to abandon the vessel.
'The couple were tracked down in the island airport after detectives launched an operation to find them.
'They were held at 6pm on May 21 as they tried to leave Ibiza.'
It was not immediately clear this afternoon if they have already appeared in court.
The cruise company they were travelling with has not been named by police.
The arrest of the two Brits on Ibiza comes after a local last week pleaded for her island to stop letting in 'wild animals' as she endured a raucous flight from Luton to the Spanish isle.
Erika Barrachina posted footage of rowdy tourists, insisting they should not have been allowed on the plane in the first place.
'My flight from London to Ibiza was absolutely horrible,' she captioned her post, showing tourists banging and chanting on board the two and a half hour flight.
'I was scared. A plane full of real English animals.'
'Everyone standing, screaming, guys hitting each other, drinking bottles of alcohol one after the other and stopping the flight attendants from doing their job. Real hell.'
Passengers could be seen on board banging on luggage compartments above them and yelling: 'Come on Ibiza.'
She alleged that she had seen passengers drinking before the flight took off, insisting 'this shouldn't be allowed'.
'They shouldn't let rabble like this get on a plane or sell alcohol on board. We don't want this type of tourism in Ibiza, they should stay at home,' she told Diario de Ibiza.
Erika, who posts online as Kiribarrachi, told local media she had complained to the flight attendants.
She claimed the two male air stewards and an air stewardess on board had asked some passengers for their documentation but were met with shouts of 'F*** off.'
'I had a very bad time and the flight attendants unable to do anything because how do you control these wild animals inside a plane. There has to be a solution.'
'I'm not afraid of flying because I've flown around the world but I had a panic attack because it was like being in a pub, in a nightclub, but in the air,' she added.
'This video is the just the end because I couldn't film what happened during the journey,' she said.
She said they were let off the plane after reaching Ibiza airport and identifying themselves.
easyJet told MailOnline the flight 'was met by police on arrival due to a group of passengers behaving in a disruptive manner'.
Erika posted the footage last Saturday, a day before thousands of people marched in Canary Islands capitals as part of a new anti-mass tourism protest.
Locals in the Balearic Islands, which include Ibiza, are due to stage their protest on June 15.
Demonstrations across Spain continue to gather pace as locals decry what they call 'overtourism' - the catering of local industry to foreign visitors, affecting jobs and house prices, and the arrival of noisy, drunken tourists.
While the Spanish government has introduced a rent cap mechanism, only few regional governments - like that in Barcelona, where it led to slightly reduced rents - have applied it.
Government measures have not proven enough to stop protests over the past two years and experts say the situation likely won't improve soon, with more demonstrations expected in the coming months.

BRAD Pitt has demanded that his ex-wife Angelina Jolie be deposed under oath in their nasty fight over their French winery, Château Miraval. The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal in court documents filed this week, Brad's team has asked the court to compel Angelina's company, Nouvel LLC, to be questioned in their ongoing legal battle over the vineyard and estate. 5 5 According to Brad's filing, Nouvel has objected to being deposed, calling the topic of the inquiry "overbroad, unduly burdensome, and not reasonably calculated to lead to the discovery of admissible evidence." Brad, 61, alleged that Angelina, 50, was open to a third-party sale of Miraval as early as March of 2021. HOW MIRAVAL CAME TO BE The couple purchased the estate in 2011 for an estimated $60 million with Brad claiming it was to be passed down to their children. The property, which includes a 35-room manor and extensive vineyard, is said to now be worth around $500 million. He has claimed he was the driving force behind the success of the winery, spending both his time and money on the endeavor early on. In 2016, the couple split but both continued to maintain their stake in the company, until 2021 when Angelina told Brad she wanted out of the business. She reportedly said Brad used the company's money to fund his personal pursuits. Angelina and Brad almost came to an agreement for him to be able to purchase the company, however the pair locked horns after Brad proposed a nondisparagement agreement in connection with the deal. As The U.S. Sun previously revealed, Angelina argued Brad wanted her to sign an NDA to cover up "years of abuse." Brad argued Angelina's issue was actually that she already had a deal lined up with Stoli Group. Stoli is owned and controlled by Russian billionaire, Yuri Shefler, and its subsidiary Tenute del Mondo. Brad sued Angelina over the Stoli deal in 2022 saying she had sold Miraval without his approval, and argued that without that, the sale was invalid. He was seeking at least $67 million in his suit. How Paul Pogba overcame the doubts to launch improbable Monaco comeback
The tears flowed as Paul Pogba signed his two-year deal at AS Monaco last week. "It is very rare to see me cry like that so I hope you enjoyed it," he joked at his presentation on Thursday. "It was a moment of joy," insisted the former Manchester United and Juventus midfielder. But the outpouring of emotion runs deeper; it is more complex, more nuanced. It has been a turbulent three years for Pogba. "There were so many images that came into my mind. We know the doping story, my injury… everything came back to me during the signing and I just couldn't hold it back," he said. A doping ban, initially for four years but reduced to 18 months following a successful appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), coupled with injuries, have reduced the Frenchman to just over 200 minutes of football since the start of the 2022/23 season. Off-the-pitch issues have contributed to his on-pitch absence. "It is all linked. If the mind is good, it will go well on the pitch," he said on Thursday. Mentally, however, it transpired that Pogba wasn't in a good place, and that manifested itself physically, so Pogba believes. In March 2022, while still at Manchester United, he was kidnapped by masked men as part of an extortion attempt that implicated brother Mathias. Months later, he joined Juventus, but the extortion attempt followed him to Italy. Mathias Pogba phoned his brother, demanding a €13m payment and threatening to sully the player's image if the request was not met. It was not met. Mathias then claimed that his brother had used a witch doctor to put a curse on Kylian Mbappé ahead of PSG's Champions League Round of 16 tie against Manchester United back in 2019. "Paul never asked me to cast a spell on Mbappé," insisted the marabout. Although the player acknowledged speaking with a marabout, he states that it was only for help regarding the injuries that scuppered the end of his time at Manchester United and then his first year back at Juventus. After his brother was sentenced to a three-year prison, two years of which were suspended, at the end of 2024, Paul Pogba said he wished to "turn the page". By signing for Monaco, he has closed one chapter, a painful one. "I live day by day, not thinking about what happened to me in the past, [I'm] just thinking about the present and what's in front of me," he said, adding that he "hopes and thinks" that his new-found mental fortitude will keep the injuries at bay. "It's all linked," he insists. And Pogba, despite his light-hearted façade and his jokes about the dream of seeing his children "dab" when he scores a goal, he is a player, a man changed and remoulded by his recent experiences. He himself can recognise that. "It is still the same Paul Pogba, but perhaps a more determined one. You will see a determined Paul Pogba," he said. There was a particular motivation for Pogba to make his return. "He wants his kids to see him play," Monaco's CEO Thiago Scuro tells us. His kids, and his wife, were a particular source of strength over the past months. "There were moments of doubt. [Thinking that] maybe it's over; it is difficult sometimes. My family, my wife in particular, pushed me. They said it would be alright… now I feel like a kid that has signed his first professional contract," added Pogba. But there is another motivating factor to return and to do so at a club like Monaco, whose performance centre in La Turbie is just a stone's throw away from Didier Deshcamps' residence. "The France national team would be another dream, a bonus," said Pogba. Scuro added that the Frenchman has set his sights on participation in next summer's World Cup. "You can't play for France without playing for your club," recognises Pogba. And he isn't there yet. The midfielder says that playing against his formative club, Le Havre, on the first day of the Ligue 1 season in August is an "added motivation". But it is only after Pogba, followed by many of the 40 journalists in attendance at his unveiling, departs the scene that a dose of realism enters. "I can guarantee that he won't be on the pitch against Le Havre. We are here to be realistic. We expect a three-month process," says Scuro, who talks about "increasing the load" in the coming weeks. Pogba was one of 12 first-team players absent from training on Thursday. Other new signings, Eric Dier and Ansu Fati, were only partially involved. The question of whether Pogba can still be the player that helped lead France to World Cup glory in 2018 is yet to be answered and won't be answered any time soon. But as a person, he now exudes a different energy. There is still the aura, the silence as he enters the room, the bravado, and the show, but there is a seriousness, too, a steely grit and an emotional vulnerability, either previously concealed or altogether absent. Those characteristics coalesce well with the environment he has entered at Monaco. "I think I'm the oldest at the club! It's weird," jokes Pogba, who at 32 will be expected to be a leader in the dressing room. He deeply hopes that he can be a leader on the pitch, too.
