Clinic told to refund fees for failed hair treatment
Ahmedabad: A consumer commission here has ordered a health clinic to refund fees, and awarded Rs 40,000 compensation to a law student after an unsatisfactory 'New Hair' treatment. The compensation was ordered for the clinic's misleading advertisement and unfair trade practice. This case involved an LLB student from Gandhinagar, Shrey Bodakiya, who opted for 'New Hair' treatment with the clinic in Ahmedabad and paid a Rs 53,000 in April 2023. After undergoing treatment, Bodakiya felt that the purpose of the treatment was not served, and the clinic did not offer free sessions in accordance with the promise made earlier once the treatment did not have the desired effect. Patwari attacks govt over failure to curb high infant deaths
Bhopal: Congress state president Jitu Patwari on Sunday accused the state govt of failing to reduce infant and maternal mortality rates, despite spending Rs 10,000 crore over the past five years to check the health issues. Citing the latest Sample Survey System (SSR) report, he said 40 children among 1,000 children born in a year fail to see their first birthday. While IMR in the country fell to 26 from 40 per 1,000 children between 2013 to 2022, in the state it has only come down from 53 to 40 in the same period. In a letter addressed to CM Mohan Yadav, the Congress leader said the IMR and MMR figures expose the huge claims of development by the state govt and raises a pertinent question where the money being raised through debts in the name of development are going. "The annual budget on healthcare is Rs 4500 crore but even the most basic healthcare services are not available to people." He further asked the chief minister why the facility of cesarean delivery was available only in 120 of the 547 healthcare centres functional in the state in 2022? Whether the other healthcare centres are acting only as "referral centres"?, He asked. Patwari said that posts of child specialists are vacant in 70 percent of the community health centres despite the fact that 55 percent deaths in SNCU are of the children brought in "referral cases". by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Perdagangkan CFD Emas dengan Broker Tepercaya IC Markets Mendaftar Undo Patwari said that a state which has a debt burden of Rs 4.5 lakh crore is not able to basic healthcare needs of its people and it makes one ask whether a 'healthy Madhya Pradesh' is anywhere in the priority list of the state government or it intends to continue selling 'pipe dream' through public speeches and publicity.

Cancer patients can now receives radiation therapy at Cama Hospital
Mumbai: A 50-year-old woman with breast cancer became the first patient in two years to receive radiation therapy on Friday at the women-only Cama & Albless Hospital. This followed the arrival of a long-delayed linear accelerator machine used for targeted treatment. Hospital officials stated that this is still a "trial run" ahead of the official inauguration. The previous machine was deemed unfit for treatment two years ago, after serving the city for over a decade and helping thousands of women receive advanced cancer care. Radiation therapy uses high-energy rays to kill or shrink cancer cells. Doctors carefully aim the radiation at the cancer so it affects as little healthy tissue as possible. The treatment can cost over a lakh private centres but would be offered for free here. You Can Also Check: Mumbai AQI | Weather in Mumbai | Bank Holidays in Mumbai | Public Holidays in Mumbai Dr Tushar Palve, the hospital's Medical Superintendent, said the radiation therapy room—also known as the "bunker"—is a specially shielded space designed to prevent radiation leakage. The bunker's walls, floor, and ceiling are constructed with thick layers of lead or concrete to absorb and block radiation. The total cost of the machine and the renovations was Rs 38 crore, sanctioned by the medical education department. "We largely see patients with ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, uterine cancer, and some mouth and bowel cancer cases. We had chemotherapy available for patients and now there are more options," said Dr Palve. The burden of patients needing radiotherapy will now be shared between Cama, BYL Nair Hospital, and Tata Memorial Hospital. A doctor from Nair Hospital said they also plan to procure the same machine, but for now, their radiotherapy centre remains functional with a cobalt machine. These machines are an older type of radiation therapy device, but they are less precise than newer machines. "We only use cobalt machines, which means we can provide only 2D radiotherapy. About 40 to 50 patients on a daily basis require that machine," the doctor said.
