Actress Katherine Parkinson has joined the cast of the new Harry Potter TV series.
The IT Crowd star will join the HBO TV show of the popular fantasy novel series to play Molly Weasley, the mother of Ron Weasley.
Parkinson also starred in the hit Disney+ series Rivals, for which she received a supporting actress Bafta TV nomination for her role as Lizzie Vereker.
Joining the cast alongside Parkinson is actor and musician Johnny Flynn, who is best known for playing Mr Knightley in the 2020 film Emma.
The 42-year-old will portray antagonist Lucius Malfoy, while The Diary Of A Teenage Girl star Bel Powley will play Petunia Dursley, the aunt of Harry Potter who takes him in and forces him to live under the stairs following his parents' death.
Each season of the show will be a faithful adaptation of the Harry Potter books, from author and executive producer JK Rowling.

This follows from the popular film adaptations that starred Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint as the protagonists.
Actor and comedian Daniel Rigby will also join the cast to play Petunia's husband, Vernon Dursley, while The Crown's Bertie Carvel will portray Cornelius Fudge.
School bully Draco Malfoy, who was played in the films by Tom Felton, who is set to reprise the role in the Harry Potter And The Cursed Child play on Broadway, will be portrayed by Lox Pratt.
Hogwarts students will include newcomers Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil and Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown.
The young stars cast to play Harry, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley were announced recently.
Dominic McLaughlin will take the part of Harry, Arabella Stanton will play Hermione and Alastair Stout is cast as Ron.

British actor Paapa Essiedu and US star John Lithgow were also confirmed as Professor Severus Snape and Hogwarts headmaster Professor Albus Dumbledore, respectively.
The cast also includes Welsh comedian and actor Paul Whitehouse as the magic-less Hogwarts caretaker Argus Filch and Hot Fuzz actor Nick Frost as the friendly groundskeeper Rubeus Hagrid.
Production will begin at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden in summer 2025.

Warner Bros' credit rating downgraded to junk by Fitch on split-up
June 11 (Reuters) - Credit ratings agency Fitch Ratings on Wednesday downgraded Warner Bros Discovery (WBD.O), opens new tab to junk status following the company's announced split-up earlier this week, as investors weigh the deal's likely impact on holders of its debt. "The downgrade reflects Fitch's expectation post-transaction, WBD will be smaller and less diversified in a secularly declining industry and have elevated leverage," Fitch analysts wrote. "Depending on the final capital structure, a multi-notch downgrade is possible," they added. On Monday, the entertainment conglomerate announced plans to split into two publicly traded companies: one anchored by its Warner Bros Pictures, DC Studios, and growing HBO Max streaming service, while the other will serve as home to its legacy cable channels, including CNN and TNT. The split-up, expected to close in mid-2026, aims to help the current company better handle its immense $37 billion debt resulting from the 2022 merger of Warner Bros and Discovery.

Sex and the City star says show was ‘too white'
Cynthia Nixon has claimed that Sex and the City's biggest flaw was how 'incredibly white' it was. The 59-year-old actress, who won an Emmy for her performance as Miranda Hobbes in the HBO series, said that the lack of diversity was 'one thing that always was not great' about it. 'We are all clumsy and dumb when it comes to things like race,' she told Elizabeth Day's How to Fail podcast, which was released on Wednesday. Sex and the City ran for six series between 1998 and 2004 and followed the lives of four female friends in their 30s living in New York. All four title characters – played by Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Nixon – are white. Nixon said they had tried to make amends for the show's alleged whiteness in the sequel, And Just Like That, which follows three of the original characters – Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte – as they navigate their relationships as women in their 50s. The sequel series, which first aired in 2021, had a more diverse roster of characters including stars Sara Ramirez and Sarita Choudhury. Nixon told the How to Fail podcast: 'I think one thing that always was not great about the show was how incredibly white it was. 'I feel like that was a big goal of ours when we did And Just Like That, to make sure that that was no longer the case.' She added: 'But I think to have us all just magically be friends with people of colour, and just snap your fingers, I think would have been more problematic. 'I think it's good if you're a white person and you look around and you realise you don't have any black friends and you're sort of like a bull in a china shop, because that is who Miranda is.'
