Police file DUI, homicide by vehicle charges in fatal pedestrian crash in Carlisle
CARLISLE, Pa. (WHTM) — A man is facing charges after police say he was under the influence when he drove up onto the sidewalk and struck two people.
Martin Leroy Brinton, 57, is facing felony homicide by vehicle while DUI and aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI charges.
According to Carlisle Police, around 8:17 p.m. Friday, Brinton drove up onto the sidewalk near South Hanover Street and West Pomfret Street in the borough and struck a 73-year-old woman and 74-year-old man.
The woman was pronounced dead at the hospital and the man is in critical condition, police said.
Brinton, police alleged, was under the influence at the time.

He was taken to an area hospital for treatment and then to Cumberland County Prison.

Virginia man arrested on illegal weapons charges in Steuben County
ERWIN, N.Y. (WETM) — A Virginia man was arrested in June on illegal weapons charges after an incident in the Town of Erwin, according to a release from the New York State Police. Clarence J. Payton, 30, of Virginia, was arrested on Thursday, June 5, on several felony charges including: Criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree: loaded firearm, not in home/business, a class C felony. Criminal possession of a firearm, a class C felony. Two counts of unlawful possession of certain ammunition feeding devices, not in the home, a class B misdemeanor. Police investigating gunshot after overnight incident in Elmira Payton was arrested after an incident inside a home on Thursday where troopers said Payton was asked to leave the residence and reportedly had a gun. Troopers found Payton at the home and saw he had a pistol and an additional extended magazine. It was later learned that Payton did not have a valid New York State pistol permit. The following items were taken from Payton: Clock 17 pistol Two Glock-17 magazines One KCI USA 33-round magazine Various 9mm Luger ammunition Payton was arrested on the charges and taken to the state police barracks for processing before he was moved to the Steuben County Jail for further proceedings. Deputies: Man, 43, killed in Oceana County crash
ELBRIDGE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A driver was killed Saturday in a crash in Oceana County, deputies say. It happened around 12:15 p.m. on E. Harrison Road between N. 148th Avenue and N. 152nd Avenue in Elbridge Township, according to a report filed by the Oceana County Sheriff's Office. Deputies say a man was heading east on Harrison in a Pontiac Vibe when he went off the road. According to the sheriff's office, he 'did not appear to stop' before crashing head-on into a tree. The car then caught fire. The driver, identified by deputies as 43-year-old Eugene Heiss of Walkerville, died on scene, according to the report. No one else was in the car. Woman arrested in connection to reported hit-and-run in Wyoming County
LYNCO, WV (WVNS) — A woman was arrested after a reported hit-and-run that resulted in serious bodily injury in Wyoming County. Multiple people arrested after vape shop sting operation in Greenbrier County According to a press release on the Wyoming County Sheriff's Office's Facebook page, Kayla Rodgers was arrested on Thursday, June 5, 2025 for multiple charges that included: Felony leaving the scene of an accident causing serious bodily injury No insurance Failure to render aid Obstructing Filing of a false emergency report The press release stated that members of the Wyoming County Sheriff's Office responded to an ATV accident that was reported in Lynco on Thursday, May 29, 2025 that resulted in serious injuries for the driver of the ATV. According to the information in the Wyoming County Sheriff's Office's Facebook post, once members of the sheriff's office arrived at the scene, they discovered that the accident was a hit-and-run. Members of law enforcement also found that the second car, that was registered to Rodgers and had reported severe front end damage matching that of an accident, was abandoned nearby. Warrants issued in relation to fight after local high school graduation The post stated that the driver of the car was identified as Rodgers, who reportedly left the accident scene without stopping to offer help or information to the other person involved. Rodgers also allegedly called the Wyoming County Sheriff's Office after the accident and stated that her car was stolen before the crash, which was found to be false. Rodgers was arrested on Thursday, June 5, 2025 and taken to Southern Regional Jail, where the post stated that she will get the chance to post bond given by a Magistrate Judge.
