Inflation at the grocery store down, but it doesn't feel like it

(WHTM) — Inflation is at its lowest level in three years and some food items are getting cheaper, but it may not feel that way. We're now in grilling season, and you probably noticed higher beef, chicken, and ground beef prices this Spring. But, some other grocery prices are actually down. Oreo maker Mondelez sues Aldi, alleging grocery chain copies its packaging to confuse customers A Texas A&M survey finds boneless chicken breasts are $1/lb higher than last year. Never mind steak: ground beef prices have hit a record high of $5.80/lb according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, meaning peak prices for peak grilling season. From the 'Doesn't That Stink' file, why lower grocery inflation doesn't feel like lower inflation. The latest government numbers show egg prices are down sharply the past two months. Pork, bacon, and orange juice prices are down too. The result: grocery inflation is up just 2.8% in 2025, but if you're grilling out, it's not going to feel like it. Fulton County school bus involved in crash

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — A school bus in Fulton County was involved in a crash Friday morning, school officials said. Central Fulton School District Superintendent Christina Ramsey said in a letter to parents the incident occurred Friday morning when a bus was 'making a routine left-hand turn when a car at a nearby stop sign unexpectedly pulled forward and made contact with the side of the bus.' 'The bus remained drivable and all students arrived at school on time,' Ramsey said. No injuries were reported, Ramsey said, and all students were checked out by district nursing staff. 'The safety of our students is always our top priority and we are grateful to our bus driver and staff for their quick and professional response,' she added. The bus was identified as 'Bus 10' though the school it was carrying students from was not identified. Carousel house saved from former Williams Grove amusement park grounds

WILLIAMS GROVE, Pa. (WHTM) — A 101-year-old carousel house was moved from a former amusement park Friday. The Williams Grove Historical Steam Engine Association will eventually bring it onto their property. The carousel was a major component of the former Williams Grove Amusement Park that closed 20 years ago. Now, it's on its way to be restored. 'To be able to take the last piece of remaining of history out of the park and move it over here to restore it seemed like the right thing to do,' Dale Bentz, vice president of the association, said. 'Recreating history and preserving history, you only have one shot at it.' Siren test scheduled for Peach Bottom nuclear plant

(WHTM) — If you're in southeastern York, southwestern Lancaster counties, or part of Maryland, you'll likely hear a siren next week. The Peach Bottom Clean Energy Center — formerly the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station — will conduct its semi-annual test of the facility's emergency warning sirens. This will occur at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 4. Download the abc27 News+ app on your Roku, Amazon Fire TV Stick, and Apple TV devices The plant has 97 sirens within 10 miles of the plant and officials say the sirens are not a signal to evacuate, but a warning to tune to a local Emergency Alert Broadcast television or radio station.
