Tawau police arrest four for armed rioting over attack on civil servant
KUALA LUMPUR (July 24): Four men have been arrested in connection with a riot incident in Tawau involving the assault of a civil servant.
According to the district police, the victim was drinking at a restaurant on Jalan St Patrick when he was attacked by several known individuals, resulting in facial injuries.
Following the police report lodged by the victim, a team from the Tawau District Criminal Investigation Division launched an operation to track down the suspects.
The first suspect was arrested in Kampung Pukat, while the second was apprehended in the Takada area.
The remaining two suspects were arrested within the vicinity of the Tawau District Police Headquarters.
Police checks revealed that two of the four suspects have prior criminal records related to drug offences and other crimes, and the case is being investigated under Section 148 of the Penal Code for armed rioting. — Malay Mail Jalan St Patrick lead rioting Tawau police

"The molestation was believed to have occurred on Feb 27, 2025. A police report was made two weeks later after the victim shared the incident on March 11, 2025. "The witnesses in this case are still being tracked down to assist with investigations as there is no closed-circuit television footage at the scene," he said.

Police probe man who hoisted Jalur Gemilang upside down in Kepala Batas
KEPALA BATAS: Police have launched an investigation after a video showing a man hoisting the Jalur Gemilang upside down went viral on social media today. The video, posted on Facebook around 12.30pm, shows the man raising the national flag incorrectly while another individual recorded the incident. The complainant, who spotted the video, suspected the incident took place in Kepala Batas and lodged a police report at the Kepala Batas police station. Seberang Prai Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Anuar Abd Rahman confirmed in a statement tonight that investigations are ongoing. "Statements have been recorded from the complainant and individuals involved. "The case is being probed under Section 5 of the Emblems and Names (Prevention of Improper Use) Act 1963, Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998," he said. Anuar urged the public not to sensationalise the incident, as it could disrupt public order and hamper police investigations. BUTTERWORTH: A Vietnamese man was arrested after stealing from a supermarket and attempting to take an 11-month-old baby hostage. The incident occurred today on Jalan Telaga Air. Seberang Perai Utara district police chief ACP Anuar Abd Rahman said the supermarket supervisor spotted the suspect fleeing with unpaid seafood items. The supervisor caught the man, but he escaped briefly before being pursued again. 'The man then grabbed an 11-month-old baby boy and brandished a knife at the public,' Anuar said in a statement. With the help of supermarket staff and bystanders, the suspect was subdued before police arrived.
