By 2027, 50% of business decisions will be augmented by AI agents for decision intelligence: Gartner
New Delhi [India], June 17 (ANI): According to a report by Gartner, Inc., by 2027, 50 per cent of business decisions will be augmented or automated by AI agents for decision intelligence. This integration will enhance decision flows by handling complex analysis and data retrieval. Gartner recommends D&A leaders prioritise critical decisions that can benefit from advanced AI. Idoine cautioned that AI agents aren't 'a panacea, nor are they infallible,' stressing the need for effective governance and human AI literacy.Another significant prediction in the report is that organisations that prioritise AI literacy for their executives are projected to achieve 20 per cent higher financial performance by 2027. Additionally, Gartner suggests D&A leaders implement experiential upskilling programs, such as developing domain-specific prototypes to make AI tangible.However, a critical challenge highlighted in the report is that by 2027, 60 per cent of D&A leaders will face critical failures in managing synthetic data, risking AI governance, model accuracy, and compliance. While synthetic data is crucial for privacy and generating diverse datasets, complexities arise in ensuring its accuracy, scalability, and integration.Additionally, looking ahead, by 2028, 30 per cent of GenAI pilots will be built in-house for large-scale production, driven by lower costs and increased control, rather than relying on packaged applications. Building GenAI models internally offers greater flexibility and long-term value.Lastly, by 2029, 10 per cent of global boards are predicted to utilize AI guidance to challenge executive decisions that are material to their business. As AI becomes integral to board-level strategy, robust data governance, regulatory clarity, and reputation management will become paramount. 'Nearly everything today - from the way we work to how we make decisions - is directly or indirectly influenced by AI. But it doesn't deliver value on its own - AI needs to be tightly aligned with data, analytics and governance to enable intelligent, adaptive decisions and actions across the organization,' said Carlie Idoine, VP Analyst at Gartner.Gartner's key predictions include a significant increase in business decisions augmented or automated by AI agents, a direct correlation between executive AI literacy and higher financial performance, and potential critical failures in managing synthetic data that could risk AI governance, model accuracy, and compliance.The company advises integrating some strategic assumptions into their planning over the next two to three years. Customers who have bank lockers face the risk of losing access if they fail to sign a revised rental agreement with their banks. Approximately 20% of locker renters could be denied access for not meeting regulatory timelines. The revised locker agreement now includes provisions allowing customers to seek legal remedies if banks fail to safeguard their locker contents. Banks are considering measures against non-compliant customers as the Reserve Bank of India ( RBI ) monitors compliance levels. Sources told ET that banks have approached both the regulator and government officials seeking authorisation to dispatch final notices and potentially seal lockers. These actions aim to ensure adherence to regulations whilst protecting banks from supervisory concerns. Bank Locker Agreement Currently, banks limit their actions to sending reminder notices to customers about agreement renewals. A government representative confirmed that they are reviewing the appeal from public sector banks. The RBI's updated guidelines for locker agreements required complete implementation by March 2024. In August 2021, RBI instructed banks to implement revised agreements with existing locker holders by January 1, 2023, considering technological advancements, customer complaints and feedback. Subsequently, RBI extended the implementation deadline to December 2023, followed by a further extension to March 2024. Then there are some genuine cases due to legal issues between parties involved," said a bank executive. During discussions with the RBI, banks have requested permission to suspend locker operations and issue notices when customers fail to comply, according to another banking official. "Meanwhile, we have requested that the compliance date of March 2024 should be extended, including the time given to the customer for compliance, which can be four months," said the banker cited immediately above. PM Modi, PM Carney hold meeting, countries to see early return of High Commissioners to capitals: MEA
Kananaskis [Canada], June 18 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his Canadian counterpart Mark Carney on the sidelines of the G7 Summit. Notably, this was the first in-person meeting between the two leaders after Canada's recent general elections. During the meeting, the leaders reaffirmed the importance of India-Canada ties and agreed to take constructive steps to restore stability in the relationship, with the early return of High Commissioners to each other's capitals, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), said in a statement on Wednesday. As per the MEA, the meeting between PM Modi and PM Carney provided an opportunity for both sides to hold frank and forward-looking discussions on the state of India-Canada relations and the way ahead. The leaders reaffirmed the importance of India-Canada ties, based on shared democratic values, respect for the rule of law and commitment to upholding the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity. They underlined the need to pursue a constructive and balanced partnership grounded in mutual respect for concerns and sensitivities, strong people-to-people ties, and growing economic complementarities. In a significant development, it was announced by the MEA in its statement that India and Canada 'agreed to take calibrated and constructive steps to restore stability in the relationship, beginning with the early return of High Commissioners to each other's capitals.' Notably, the leaders underscored the importance of restarting senior ministerial as well as working-level engagements across various domains to rebuild trust and bring momentum to the relationship. As per the MEA, PM Modi and PM Carney discussed opportunities for future collaboration in areas such as clean energy, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, LNG, food security, critical minerals, higher education, mobility, and supply chain resilience. They reaffirmed their shared interest in promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific. The leaders also discussed the importance of restarting the stalled negotiations on the Early Progress Trade Agreement (EPTA), to pave the way for a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). They agreed to task their respective officials to engage further in this regard. The leaders acknowledged the important progress made at the G7 Summit and the shared willingness to work constructively together on global priorities such as climate action, inclusive growth, and sustainable development. MEA noted in its statement that the leaders underlined the deep people-to-people connections between the two countries and agreed to leverage this living bridge to the benefit of both countries. They agreed to stay in touch and looked forward to meeting each other again at the earliest opportunity. The positive developments follows after tensions had escalated further when former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claimed that his government had 'credible allegations' of India's involvement in the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada in 2023. India has strongly denied the allegations, terming them 'absurd' and 'motivated,' and has accused Canada of giving space to extremist and anti-India elements. In the aftermath, India recalled six diplomats from Canada after they were declared 'persons of interest' by Canadian authorities investigating Nijjar's killing. Nijjar was shot dead outside a gurdwara in Surrey, British Columbia, on June 18, 2023. (ANI)

Delhi government plans to transform Najafgarh drain into 30 MW canal-top solar power corridor
By Tanya Chugh New Delhi [India], June 18 (ANI): In a significant push towards clean energy and water conservation, the Delhi government is set to transform the Najafgarh Drain into a 30 MW canal-top solar power corridor. According to sources, the project will be implemented in phases, the first phase of which will generate 5 MW of solar power over a 6 km stretch from the Dhansa Border to Ghummanhera. The project is estimated to save nearly 270 million litres of water annually. Solar panels will not only generate electricity but also reduce the rate of water evaporation. This initiative is a part of the Delhi government's broader plan to triple the city's solar power capacity by 2027. The project will be developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. Similar proposals are being considered for other drains such as the Barapullah and the Agra Canal. The Najafgarh Drain is a major source of pollution in the Yamuna River, and efforts are underway to improve its condition. Desilting drains that fall into the river and projects for rejuvenation of the Yamuna are also underway in the national capital. Delhi CM Rekha Gupta, LG VK Saxena, and PWD Minister Parvesh Verma are directly monitoring them. As part of its clean river initiative, the Delhi government is also installing 32 real-time water monitoring stations. Ten will be located on the Yamuna River itself, while 22 others will be set up on major city drains to monitor and address pollution levels, said a senior official. Meanwhile, the Delhi Cabinet also approved solar power subsidies in the state. Rs 1,08,000 will now be provided for 3KW solar panel installations. Earlier, the Central Government gave a subsidy of Rs 78,000, to which the Delhi Government has now added 30,000. Also, for 1KW solar panels, a subsidy of Rs 10,000 will be provided. The Delhi Vidhan Sabha is also being solar-powered by the government, where the foundation stone for a 500 KW Solar power plant had already been laid. This makes the Delhi Vidhan Sabha the first in the country to be solar-powered. These initiatives higlights the Delhi government's commitment to sustainable urban development and its goal of making the capital a leader in renewable energy adoption. (ANI)
