Harvey Weinstein's New York Retrial Closes With Prosecutors Urging Jury to ‘Let Him Know the Rules Apply to Him' Ahead of Deliberations
The prosecution finished delivering its closing argument on Wednesday afternoon at Harvey Weinstein's sex crimes retrial in New York City.
'The defendant thought the rules did not apply to him. Now is the time to let him know the rules [do] apply to him,' district attorney Nicole Blumberg told the jury.

Blumberg summarized the testimonies of accusers Miriam Haley, Kaja Sokola and Jessica Mann — who, over the weeks-long trial, described their alleged sexual assaults by Weinstein.
'He underestimated their power and their strength,' Blumberg said of the accusers who came forward.
In the defense's summation on Tuesday, Weinstein's lawyer Arthur Aidala reiterated the argument that the accusers had lied — claiming that all of their sexual encounters with Weinstein were consensual and calling these relationships 'transactional.'
Aidala described the three accusers as 'women with broken dreams' who were angry at Weinstein for their lack of success in the entertainment industry. He also claimed they were motivated by money or fame to testify.
'If this guy wasn't Harvey Weinstein, would we even be here?' Aidala said.
Blumberg refuted the defense's claim that the three women accused Weinstein of sexual assault to seek financial compensation or notoriety.
The prosecutor argued that they contacted Sokola, who did not testify at Weinstein's 2020 trial, to take the stand — not the other way around. She also highlighted what happened to Haley and Mann after their testimony in that trial: Haley changed the spelling of her last name, while Mann did not speak to the media for over a year after the original New York trial ended.
'Only in a rape trial,' Blumberg said, 'it actually feels like you're the person on trial.'
Blumberg added, 'Who puts themselves through that unless they're telling the truth?'
Weinstein is charged with two counts of committing a 'criminal sexual act' in the first degree and one count of third-degree rape, following accusations by Haley, Sokola and Mann. In his 2020 trial, the disgraced movie mogul had been found guilty of sexually abusing former aspiring actor Mann and former TV production assistant Haley — but those convictions were overturned in 2024. Weinstein has pleaded not guilty to all counts in his retrial.
The jury, consisting of seven women and five men, is set to begin deliberations on Thursday.

Someone who made me feel like I was so — like I was her one and only,' an emotional Goodwin told the judge, per Court TV. "Now, discovering she put a hit out to kill me more than once, got blackmailed and spent almost all our savings to keep it quiet … This has led me to fear [for] my life,' he continued, through tears. 'I've hired armed security for weeks. Not knowing [whether] it was over or not.' Aaron, who filed for divorce from Victoria in March, told the judge that ever since he found out about the plot, he has been 'looking over' his shoulder and going through therapy to understand everything that has happened. He then described the feeling as a 'heartbreak no one should go through in life," stating, "The fact that this person did all this to me with no worry, no care or love in her heart for me, I will never feel the same." "I will never feel safe or be the same because of what she did. Especially when she gets out one day," Aaron added. 'Whether she [gets] minimum or maximum time, I still won't feel safe whenever she's released. I feel like this deserves prison time." Victoria was later sentenced to a minimum of 36 months and a maximum of 90 months in prison, according to KVVU-TV. She previously accepted a plea deal in April, pleading guilty to one felony count of conspiracy to commit murder. Victoria was initially taken into custody on March 6 on charges of soliciting to commit murder and conspiring to commit murder. She allegedly conspired with convicted murderer Grant Amato, with whom she began a relationship in March 2024, after seeing him in the Paramount+ true crime docuseries, Ctrl + Alt + Desire, per a police report. After Victoria and Amato met, she allegedly conspired to kill Aaron with her new lover's help — allegedly going as far as discussing payments for his murder. Following the news of Victoria's alleged murder-for-hire plan, Aaron filed for divorce in a complaint that read, "There is no possibility of reconciliation between husband and wife.' I'm What to Watch's streaming editor and every week, I look through the list of what's new on Netflix to create a curated list of the new Netflix Originals you should be watching. I only include ones that would be worthy of our lists of the best Netflix shows and best Netflix movies, bringing you only the top picks. This week my list covers new uploads arriving between Saturday, June 7 and Friday, June 13, inclusive. If you like the sound of something, add it to your watchlist, but even if it's not out yet Netflix hosts landing pages to near releases which you can use to set a reminder for when it releases. The docu-craze isn't exclusive to Netflix with most other streaming services focusing on non-fiction. The reason is that, during the summer months, there's often a lull in fiction and drama releases, however I've also included a romantic sci-fi movie and an action series if you want something that's fictional. So let's find you something to watch on Netflix this week... Netflix begins a season of one-per-week documentary movies about headline events with The Astroworld Tragedy, about a well-reported tragedy from 2021. TAT tells the tale of the 2021 crowd crush at the Astroworld music festival which ended in the deaths of 10 people. It examines what happened from the perspective of survivors and first responders featuring plenty of interviews along the way. Releases on Tuesday, June 10 Next up we've got a 90-minute movie from Mexico that Netflix is billing as a sci-fi-rom-com. Our Times is about two married physicists in 1966 who are a bit too good at their job, and accidentally end up travelling to 2025. One loves the modern day yet the other wants to return to the past, and they have to question whether their marriage is worth more than living in the time they feel comfortable. Releases on Wednesday, June 11 Our next documentary of the week is a French docuseries about a worldwide topic. Ahead of release there's no word on how many episodes. Cocaine Air: Smugglers at 30,000ft is about four French people who were arrested at Punta Ana airport in 2013 after they were discovered smuggling 700kg of cocaine. While none of them fit the bill of a drug smuggling heavyweight and they all pleaded innocence as to the owner of the coke, it prompted officials to dig deeper into what was happening. Releases on Wednesday, June 11 Here's a new documentary which likely needs no introduction: Titan: The OceanGate Disaster is Netflix's long-awaited movie about the infamous OceanGate submersible implosion from 2023. Titan will tell the story of the OceanGate company as its figurehead Stockton Rush tried to pioneer the industry of deep-sea tourism. This culminates in the Titan sub's disappearance which the documentary will also explore in detail. Releases on Wednesday, June 11 For a hot minute in 2023, Netflix crowned Arnold Schwarzenegger its "Chief Action Officer" as the Governator seemed poised to renew his career on the streamer. In practice this only really resulted in his TV show Fubar which gets a second season this week. In Fubar, Schwarzenegger plays a retired CIA operative who comes in from the cold and is forced to team up with his estranged daughter and her team of strange characters. In season 2 he's forced to save the world from a past lover with a bone to pick, but this nemesis is just as interested in ruining his relationships as the world. Releases on Thursday, June 12 The latest international version of Netflix's Too Hot To Handle is here, and it features a cast of 10 Spaniards looking for romance... or something else. As always, Too Hot to Handle tasks unwitting contestants of a romance reality show with abstaining from physical affection. A grand sum is on the line but the amount will drop every time the contestants break the rules, and the series is no stranger to having every penny drained from the pot. Releases on Friday, June 13
