AN EASTENDERS legend is making a shock return after 27 years - but her co-star won't be with her.
The BBC soap has announced a huge comeback for a star last seen in the cobbles in 1998.

Actress Karen Henthorn is reprising her role as Nigel's wife Julie Bates this summer - 27 years after she was last seen in Albert Square.
Nigel left Julie last year without explanation and returned to Walford, initially telling friends that they had separated.
Later, Nigel admitted that he didn't want to become a burden to Julie, so he chose to disappear and deal with his dementia alone.
However, Julie is set to discover the truth when she arrives in Albert Square later this summer.
Karen last appeared in the show in 1998 when Julie and Nigel moved to Scotland to start a new life together and was briefly heard last year in a phone call.
Executive Producer Ben Wadey said: 'We are delighted to have Karen Henthorn returning to reprise her role as Julie, who arrives looking for Nigel.
'Julie hasn't seen Nigel in almost two years and is unaware of his diagnosis and reasons for leaving, so her arrival will pose questions for the pair of them.'
Karen Henthorn said: 'It's very surreal to be back in Albert Square after 27 years and working with the delightful Paul Bradley again - it's scary how fast the time has gone!
'Julie has got some awful surprises ahead of her after the initial relief she feels to discover Nigel is still alive.
'It's been great to film with Paul and Steve (McFadden), who are such lovely actors, as Julie discovers Nigel's dementia diagnosis and why he chose to hide it from her.'

However Karen will not be arriving with her on-screen step-daughter Gemma Bissix as Nigel's daughter Claire Bates.
Now back in Hollyoaks as iconic villain Clare Devine, Gemma told The Sun how BBC bosses hadn't approached her for a return despite Nigel's storyline.
She said: 'No, they didn't ask me. I think they did fantastic with their 40th birthday celebrations.
'They brought so many characters back from the '90s. I think that Paul Bradley is doing fantastically well with his dementia storyline.
'And you know, realistically, had that sort of that had come on the cards, that storyline would have probably been, you know, Claire Bates going and taking his money from a dementia sufferer character, which actually probably isn't something I would want to do either.'

Clarkson's Farm gives update on fan-favourite star and they look VERY different

CLARKSON'S Farm fans have been left stunned after being given an update on a fan-favourite show star. The Diddly Squat Farm Instagram account left viewers of the Prime Video show gobsmacked when it uploaded a brand new video of one character looking very different. 5 5 Richard Ham, Jeremy Clarkson 's micro-pig, appeared to have more than doubled in size since being introduced to fans on the programme during the latest series. Jezza affectionately named the pig after his former Top Gear co-star Richard Hammond who took a trip to the Oxfordshire farm for the programme. Whilst Richard Ham was then rather a small pig - the new clip has proved that things are all change for the farmyard animal. Alongside a video clip of the pig sniffing and snorting around, a caption read: "Look who it is!!! It's Richard 'porker' Ham." Fans were left shocked at his size as they begged Jezza and his girlfriend Lisa Hogan to keep the pig and look after him as they begged for him not to be turned into meat. One person said: "Yayy! I'm so glad Richard Ham is still with you, keep him forever!" Another added: "Oh Hurrah! Richard Ham is still around - please keep him or let him go to a petting farm, where he can live a happy life." A third then said: "He's gorgeous…. Please don't send me off to the meat packers….. please, please, please keep him….. "I'm not a veggie either but I do love him." Before someone else chimed in: "Blimey not so little Richard anymore." Jeremy Clarkson brings back beloved part of Clarkson's Farm after U-turn Jeremy previously revealed that he would be keeping the pig at the farm in order for it to make friends with the female pigs he owned. He confessed he was hoping Richard was able to get the next lot of female pigs 'in the mood' — and is likened to late Playboy boss Hugh Hefner. Jeremy says: 'The problem is, if he goes on the lorry, he's killed and all we get in return is chipolata and a pork chop the size of a walnut. 'If he stays here, we've got to feed him for no reason. 'And that's not farming. 'But the next lot of sows, we're going to use artificial insemination on them, to make them pregnant. 'But we can't do that until they get in heat and they won't get in heat unless there's man pig nearby. 'So why don't we keep him as the farm's man pig, to get the ladies in the mood? 'Good old Richard Ham — you could be Hugh Hefner now!' Clarkson's Farm series guide By Conor O'Brien, TV Reporter Clarkson's Farm airs on Prime Video and follows TV personality Jeremy Clarkson as he manages his Diddly Squat Farm in the Cotswolds. Three series have been released to date and here is an overview of what has happened so far. Series 1 Jeremy takes over the day-to-day running of the newly renamed Diddly Squat Farm. Lisa Hogan, Kaleb Cooper, "Cheerful Charlie" Ireland and Gerald Cooper are also introduced. Jeremy starts to assemble what he needs for his farm - as well as laying the groundwork for things to come later. He buys key equipment including a tractor and cultivator, as well as taking on sheep and opening a farm shop. Jeremy takes over the day-to-day running of the newly renamed Diddly Squat Farm. Series 2 This series sees Jeremy look for ways to increase the farm's revenue. One such example is bringing in a herd of cows although this isn't without its issues. Jeremy also had the idea to convert the abandoned lambing barn into a restaurant where he could sell his meat from the farm. For this plan to move forward, he had to get planning permission from the local council. Viewers also meet Pepper, a heifer among the herd who ultimately becomes the star's favourite. Series 3 The third series contained some of the show's most emotional moments to date. In heartbreaking scenes, dozens of newborn piglets died as a result of overlaying - their mother rolling on to them. Jeremy said goodbye to his favourite pig - the Baroness - after she developed cancer and needed to be put down. Dry stonewall expert and "head of security" Gerald Cooper was diagnosed with cancer. Jeremy and Kaleb began a competition between themselves - with Kaleb looking after the arable side and Jeremy taking the non-arable elements. Fellow farmers - and famous faces - Andy Cato and George Lamb appear in this series 5 5

Legendary ITV star ‘can't shake off' role in show watched by 25 million viewers

A former ITV soap star has said she 'can't shake off' a role that projected her into millions of living rooms each week – despite leaving 41 years ago. Actress and broadcaster JoAnne Good rose to fame in 1981 when she joined the cast of legendary serial drama Crossroads. As viewers will remember, the axed show followed the lives of staff and residents at a fictional Midlands hotel of the same name and aired between 1964 and 1988. It was later revived in 2001, though ended two years later. By this point, Crossroads was a plush hotel. Certainly a far cry from original owner Meg Mortimer's (Noelle Gordon) day! JoAnne played rebellious Carole Sands, who was David Hunter (Ronald Allen) and his wife Barbara's (Sue Lloyd) housekeeper. Rough and ready, she caused a small riot on the streets of Kings Oak, had an affair with Kevin Banks (David Moran) and later worked at the local garage. Following her departure in 1984, she's gone on to appear in Casualty, Last of the Summer Wine, Heartbeat and Doctors. Despite that, JoAnne still holds the role very close to her heart. 'I can't shake Carole off,' she told the Suddenly Single podcast. 'I'm quite proud of it because my character was the forerunner to Kylie Minogue's character (Charlene Robinson) on Neighbours. 'I played the car mechanic in the motel garage. It had a viewership of 25 million a night.' In 2021 she recalled her time on the series with the Crossroads Appreciation Society, saying it was 'the best job [she's] ever had in [her] life.' Speaking of her exit storyline, she added: 'It was like being kicked out of your family and you always believe you'll be asked back. 'And I think probably the problem with me is that I ended up having an affair with someone in it and I don't think they liked that, I think they felt that you should keep the two things separate. So that was probably my downfall!' A dramatisation based upon leading actress Noelle's time at the motel hit our screens in 2023. Nolly, written by Russell T Davies, saw Helena Bonham Carter step into the iconic actress' shoes. Last year, a selection of archive episodes hit streaming service ITVX – but were hit with a guidance notice before each episode: 'Contains broadcast standards, language and attitudes of its time.' Although not uncommon for older programmes, one former actor branded the move 'pathetic.' More Trending Fiona Curzon, who appeared in 13 episodes of the show in the 1970s, didn't think viewers would find anything offensive in the episodes. 'I don't think anyone sitting down and watching Crossroads would be shocked by anything. On the contrary I think they would think, 'what is the matter with the people who are issuing these warnings?'' she was quoted as saying in the Daily Mail. 'I just think it is absolutely pathetic. I am so sick of all of this. You cannot say boo these days.' View More » Classic episodes of Crossroads can be watched on ITVX.
