MCB Camp Lejeune dedicates simulation center to Col. Nick Davis
The building lets Marines train for real-life scenarios virtually. Cpt. Nicholas Royer, II MEF Modeling Simulation Officer, said they've been doing trainings like this for a while, but this is the first building specifically for simulations.
'When the time comes, when we are actually counting down the bullets we have available for training, we're not wasting them,' Cpt. Royer said. 'Every single one is going to count because they've had the ability to run this five, 10, 100 times in an environment where there is no cost and the stakes don't matter.'
It's dedicated to Col. Nick Davis who served for more than 30 years. Commanding General Lt. Gen. Calvert L. Worth Jr. said Davis dedicated his time to training Marines.
'Nick was just a good human. He was a man of God and he was fully dedicated to his family and to his country,' Lt. Gen. Worth said.

Military helicopters land on Boston Common in honor of Marine Corps 250th birthday
In a sight you don't see every day, multiple military helicopters made the Boston Common their landing pad on Wednesday. But don't worry, the landings were planned as part of several events to commemorate the Marine Corps 250th birthday. The aircrafts landed around 5 p.m., causing quite the spectacle. Dozens gathered to watch the impressive display, despite the loud noises and whipping winds. 'We were blown away, almost literally. I mean, backwards. It was crazy, but it was so fun,' said Mindy Rich who is visiting Boston from Arizona. A couple visiting from Germany says they've never seen anything like it. 'It feels really big, we saw it here on the sky coming in,' said Ralf Witscher. 'My wife said 'Oh what's this!' because we saw normally military helicopters coming in, but this one was really big and a really special helicopter plane, whatever you say so really great, landing right here in the city, right in the middle of the city, in a park area, it's really great, that's the U.S.' Captain Kevin Uebelhardt has been traveling the country with the U.S. Marine Corp for these events and says now it's Boston's turn to celebrate the 250th anniversary. 'This job is humbling. Every single day I get to go out and connect with American citizens throughout the country and tell them about the job in the work that we do,' Capt. Uebelhardt said. 'We're here. There will be tons of events happening the entirety of the week we encourage you guys to come on out come say hello. We'd love to meet you.' Marine Week Boston officially kicks off Thursday morning, with a host of events running throughout the weekend. A full schedule of events can be viewed on the Marine Corps website. Rhodes College celebrates 100 years in Memphis
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Rhodes College is celebrating its 100th anniversary in Memphis, marking a century since its relocation from Clarksville, Tennessee in 1925. Originally established in 1848, Rhodes College moved to Memphis under the leadership of Dr. Charles E. Diehl, who envisioned a campus built in the Collegiate Gothic architectural style. 'Appropriate and beautiful surroundings will have a transforming influence upon generation after generation of students and upon the very character of the institution itself,' said Dr. Charles E. Diehl. The relocation to Memphis allowed Rhodes College to expand its reach, providing increased access to students and resources. The campus was carefully planned and constructed, with each building incorporating the Collegiate Gothic design using Arkansas fieldstone, Indiana limestone, and Vermont slate. Classes in Memphis began on Sept. 24, 1925, with 406 students and 16 faculty. Today, the College serves approximately 2,000 students each year. On Oct. 23, the public is invited to Rhodes Night at the Shell 2025. The college's anniversary concert begins at 7 p.m. at the Overton Park Shell. More information can be found here.
