Steelers CB Wants to Get Revenge on Ja'Marr Chase: ‘All I've Been Thinking About'

Yahoo04-06-2025
PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers third-year cornerback Cory Trice Jr. looks forward to his rematch against Cincinnati Bengals All-Pro wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase in 2025. Trice has a bad taste in his mouth after getting torched by Chase in the Steelers' Week 18 loss to Cincinnati.
'That's all I've been thinking about,' Trice said at OTAs on Tuesday. 'Because that was my last game out. I just don't want anybody to really just think of me as that last game because I'm way better than that. It stung a little bit. I'm still feeling it right now. That's really kind of my motivation going into next year. Just make sure I don't put no tape out there like that again.'

Chase went off against the Steelers, recording 10 catches for 96 yards and a touchdown. Most of those receptions came on Trice.
'I don't think (coaches) was upset. Everybody, they actually was saying I did a good job and stuff like that,' Trice said. 'For me, I'm used to letting up nothing, so I was upset. I was really hard on myself. I done watched that game already like 10 times.'
Trice has been snake-bitten by the injury bug his entire playing career. His size and physicality make him an attractive dime backer or potential tight end eraser if he can stay on the field. The problem is that there's not much evidence that he can do that, as unfortunate as it is. Once he was finally healthy enough to suit up, he was baptized by fire against the Bengals' star receivers in the regular season finale.

The team's seventh-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Purdue, Trice missed his entire rookie season with an ACL injury. He played in just six games in 2024, missing 11 games due to a hamstring injury that occurred while covering a punt against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 22. Trice was on injured reserve for a significant portion of the season.
Trice has been a player with high hopes from the Steelers, despite being a seventh-round draft pick and has been considered by some a potential future starter.
Trice had a clutch red zone interception in the third quarter of the Steelers' Week 2 win over the Denver Broncos. It also marked Trice's first career interception. After missing his entire rookie season due to an ACL injury, Trice's teammates were thrilled for him to get rewarded with a game-changing interception.
'Cory stepped up in the moment,' defensive tackle Cam Heyward said. 'What a heck of a way for a guy who was hurt all last year to be ready for that moment and make a big play for us and keep seven (points) off the board.'

Eddie Johnson reveals why Shawn Kemp does not get the respect he deserves: "His production went down because of his inability to understand how to handle himself off the court"

Eddie Johnson reveals why Shawn Kemp does not get the respect he deserves: "His production went down because of his inability to understand how to handle himself off the court" originally appeared on Basketball Network. Shawn Kemp's trajectory in the NBA realm is one of the weirdest. While his prime made the strongest centers fear him, he is largely absent from conversations about the greatest in his position as his career wound down. However, when a young Blake Griffin was drawing comparisons to the 'Reign Man,' solely based on the similarities they shared in dunking and scoring, Eddie Johnson was quick to clarify that Kemp's on-court prowess deserved greater respect. Interestingly, Eddie also acknowledged the primary reason why Kemp fails to get the recognition he deserves is due to his own wrongdoings, which took the focus away from his heroics. Johnson believed young Griffin was nowhere near Kemp's level Selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2009 draft class, Blake Griffin eventually made his debut in 2010 and immediately impressed everyone. He averaged 22.5 points and 12.1 rebounds in his debut campaign. Furthermore, over his first six seasons, he maintained a scoring average of 21.4 points per game while registering SportsCenter-worthy dunks season after season. Naturally, this prompted widespread comparisons to Kemp, based on their athletic and scoring ability at the rim. However, Johnson dismissed these comparisons outright, emphasizing that Kemp's statistical output fails to fully convey the nightmare he posed for defenders. Having witnessed the fear Kemp's mere presence instilled in opponents, Johnson admitted that the lack of recognition stems from Kemp's repeated off-court troubles, which forced fans and many within the NBA community to view Shawn as nothing more than a problematic figure. "I saw some of the most unbelievable, impossible feats in practice that you ever wanna to see. Every now and then, he would show us on the basketball court. Shawn Kemp was a man-child, came straight out of high school, and Shawn in his career, averaged 14 points… Blake Griffin, six years in the league right now, averaging about 21 points per game," Johnson said. "Now the comparison is kind of distorted because Shawn Kemp was tremendous on the court, but his production went down because of his inability to understand how to handle himself off the court." Kemp's image was significantly hampered during the latter stages When Kemp attained six consecutive All-Star nods and even led the Seattle SuperSonics to the NBA Finals in 1996 as a three-time All-NBA Second Team selectee, many anticipated that he would elevate his game to even greater heights. However, his trajectory took a sharp downturn. During his first season with the Portland Trail Blazers, the six-time All-Star entered a drug rehabilitation program for cocaine abuse. Then, in 2002, he was suspended for violating the NBA's anti-drug policy. Even when he called quits on his playing days in 2005, Shawn was arrested in Washington after police discovered marijuana and cocaine in his possession. Therefore, as Eddie rightly mentioned, Kemp willingly took away the spotlight from his on-court achievements and also tarnished his public image. Who knows, had he focused solely on basketball, he would have ensured a meaningful end to his NBA story was originally reported by Basketball Network on Aug 15, 2025, where it first appeared.

Bulls land All-Star forward in bold insider trade proposal

Bulls land All-Star forward in bold insider trade proposal originally appeared on The Sporting News The Chicago Bulls under team president Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley have mismanaged their positional depth for years. The team's backcourt is fairly full, while its frontcourt has been thin for years. Last season, Chicago dished out big minutes to starters Josh Giddey and Coby White, with Ayo Dosunmu, Tre Jones, Lonzo Ball and Kevin Huerter all logging significant run off. For years, head coach Billy Donovan has been compelled to play undersized guards and wings at power forward and center. In the past, 6-foot-4 shooting guard Javonte Green and 6-foot-5 swingman Derrick Jones Jr. have notched major time at the four and five, respectively. Last season, the biggest issue was Patrick Williams, whom the Bulls have routinely tried to cast as the club's starting power forward. It's clear that he's more of a small forward, and lacks the aggression on either end of the hardwood to play major minutes at the four. Chicago addressed some of its guard issues this summer, selecting forward Noah Essengue with the No. 12 pick in the draft and flipping Ball for former Cleveland Cavaliers reserve forward Isaac Okoro, a better defender than Williams who is, sadly, similarly recalcitrant about building out his arsenal and producing more offensively. A surprising new three-team blockbuster trade proposal from Alan Goldsher of Fantasy Sports On SI sees Chicago addressing its mismatched personnel a bit more by offloading a key guard to land an exciting young All-Star combo forward. Bulls receive: Forward Scottie Barnes Heat receive: Guard Coby White, center Zach Collins, lottery-protected 2027 Chicago first-round draft pick Raptors receive: Guard Tyler Herro, lottery-protected 2028 Miami first-rounder Losing White, the Bulls' best player, would hurt. But with Chicago poised to re-sign restricted free agent Giddey — and with Dosunmu, Jones and Huerter all still on the roster and available for a bigger role — the team could afford to let White go now and get value back rather than re-signing him for a massive new annual fee when he hits unrestricted free agency next summer. The 6-foot-5 North Carolina product submitted his most prolific pro season yet, averaging a career-best 20.4 points on .453/.370/.902 shooting splits. That 37.0 percent long range clip arrived on a career-most 7.9 attempts. He also notched averages of 4.5 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and 0.9 steals a night. Barnes, a 6-foot-7 Florida State product, averaged 19.3 points 44.6 percent shooting from the floor and 75.5 percent free throw shooting, 7.7 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.0 blocks a night. He would represent a major upgrade over Williams and Okoro (one of whom, ideally, the Bulls could include in another deal), as a defense-first forward who can command an offense within the painted area. The 2022 Rookie of the Year and an All-Star in 2023-24, Barnes has yet to develop much of a stroke beyond the arc. In his best season — the aforementioned All-Star year — Barnes connected on a career-most 34.1 percent on 4.9 takes from distance, still below the league average rate. Ben Roethlisberger returns to Pittsburgh, photo with Steelers' Aaron Rodgers goes viral

The legendary Ben Roethlisberger returned to Steelers practice on Thursday — greeting his former teammates and coaches, as well as a fellow future Hall of Fame quarterback: 20-year veteran Aaron Rodgers. Roethlisberger's arrival quickly caught the attention of reporters, as the Steelers legend was seen conversing with HC Mike Tomlin, former Brown turned Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield, and Rodgers — but it was the latter that went viral on social media. The 2009 and 2021 duels between the two gunslingers were legendary — with each quarterback winning one regular-season matchup over the other, but Rodgers holds one additional postseason win over Roethlisberger that many Steelers fans wish they could forget — Super Bowl XLV. Rodgers will undoubtedly look to replicate a similar deep-postseason run in 2025 — breaking Roethlisberger's passing yards record in the process.
