Barely months before his MBBS course was to be completed in AIIMS Jodhpur, a man was allegedly found to have paid for a "dummy candidate" in his National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) in 2020, officials said on Friday.
Rajasthan Police has arrested him and a doctor for the fraud. Another doctor working as a health officer in Ghatwa, Nagaur was detained in connection with the case, they said.
Jaipur Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Amit Kumar said a report was received from the National Examination Agency, New Delhi that Sachin Gora who scored 667 marks in NEET UG-2020 never appeared for the exam and used a "dummy candidate".
The DCP said the agency found that the photo of Dr Ajit Gora was used in Sachin's admit card. Sachin is currently a final year student at AIIMS Jodhpur Medical College.
Dr Subhash Saini who now works as a health officer in Ghatwa allegedly involved Ajit in the fraud and took money for it. Ajit is currently doing the compulsory one-year internship after completing his MBBS from Bharatpur Medical College.
As per initial investigation, a deal of ₹60 lakh was fixed to make the "dummy candidate" clear the test.
Police have arrested Sachin and Ajit and detained Saini.
During interrogation, police said they found that Saini had taken ₹65 lakh in 2013 to get a person clear the NEET-PG exam. Police had then arrested six people in connection to the case.

Two doctors and medical student arrested for ‘using dummy candidate' in NEET-UG 2020

Two doctors and a fifth-year medical student at AIIMS Jodhpur have been arrested in Jaipur for allegedly using a dummy candidate in passing the NEET UG exam 2020, officials said. The development has prompted the police to investigate the involvement of other people. According to the police, the arrests were made on the back of a complaint by a 45-year-old man from Chomu, on May 15. The complainant had accused the suspect, the medical student Sachin Gora, of using a dummy candidate for the 2020 NEET exam paper on May 15. Investigators found that the suspect had allegedly paid a medical student, Ajit Gora, Rs 60 lakh to take the test. The deal was allegedly struck through an Ayurveda practitioner, Dr. Subhash Saini, a resident of Jaitpura, Chomu, who's currently posted at Ghatwa (Kuchaman) Nagaur on the post of Common Health Officer (CHO). All three accused belong to Chomu. Sachin scored 667 marks in the exam, with police claiming to have secured records from both Jagannath Pahariya Medical College, Bharatpur, where Ajit Gora is currently doing his internship, and AIIMS Jodhpur Medical College. Jaipur DCP (West) Amit Kumar said: 'On receiving information about the fraud, ACP (Chomu) Ashok Chauhan started the investigation by registering an FIR. Information was gathered from the National Testing Agency. We found that a photo of Ajit Gora was pasted on the ID of Sachin Gora, a student of AIIMS Jodhpur.' Bharatpur and Jodhpur Police are also part of the investigation. Saini was previously arrested in 2013 for a Rs 65 lakh fraud and has also been suspected to be involved in various cases involving supplying dummy candidates for examinations. Police are now suspecting the involvement of a higher number of students.

Man held for ₹30.47 cr trade benefit fraud using forged documents in Delhi: Police

New Delhi, Delhi Police has arrested a man accused of cheating and forgery to fraudulently obtain trade benefits worth over ₹30.47 crore under the Foreign Trade Policy by submitting forged remittance documents, an official said on Saturday. The accused, identified as Angad Pal Singh alias Angad Singh Chandhok, was arrested on June 2 after being deported from the United States, a police statement said. "He was earlier apprehended by the Central Bureau of Investigation in connection with another fraud case and is currently in judicial custody. "The case was initially registered in January 2017 based on a complaint from a private bank," Deputy Commissioner of Police Vikram K. Porwal said in a statement. The bank had alleged that 467 fake Foreign Inward Remittance Certificates were submitted by 18 account holders - belonging to 17 different firms - at its Naraina branch for processing export documents between September 2013 and October 2015, the officer said. He said that the FIRCs, purportedly issued by one of its branches in Delhi, were used by the accused to obtain Bank Realization Certificates , which were then submitted to the Directorate General of Foreign Trade to fraudulently avail duty credit scrips. "These duty credit scrips were intended as non-cash incentives under the Foreign Trade Policy, issued upon actual receipt of export proceeds. However, in this case, the remittances never materialised," the DCP said. Singh, along with his father Surinder Singh and brother Harsahib Singh, managed five export firms Kumar Trading Company, National Trader, Trident Overseas India, HSC Exim India, and AHC Auto Spares. Together, they allegedly forged FIRCs and obtained scrips, which were later sold in the open market, causing a loss of ₹30.47 crore to the exchequer, the DCP alleged. The accused fled India after the alleged fraud came to light but was eventually deported and taken into custody. He is also named in another EOW case. Three co-accused have already been arrested and charge-sheeted in connection with the case, police said, adding that further investigation is underway to trace the larger conspiracy and identify any collusion with bank officials.

The accused, identified as Ravi , Hitesh and Ashish , are friends, and they fired at the victims to avenge an earlier firing incident involving the victims' brother, Aman, alias Razzi. According to police, a case was filed by Ravi against Aman around three months ago at Dwarka South police station. "The complainant, a woman residing in Sector 7, Dwarka, was shot at by Ravi during a confrontation on June 1. She was accompanied by her sister at the time. The accused, along with his associates, allegedly assaulted the sisters and opened fire, injuring the complainant," Deputy Commissioner of Police Amit Goel said. A police team was dispatched to Manali, where they identified and tracked the accused. They found that Ravi and Hitesh had boarded a bus back to Delhi. The team intercepted the bus at Murthal, Haryana and apprehended the duo.
