Bucs GM 'Very, Very Excited' About Next Season
Bucs GM 'Very, Very Excited' About Next Season originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are on quite a run of postseason play.
After winning the Super Bowl with Tom Brady under center after the 2020 season, the Bucs have rattled off a record-tying four straight NFC South division titles.

It's a success that they hope to continue in 2025.
Last season, Tampa Bay was bounced from the playoffs in the Wild Card round by the upstart Washington Commanders, who advanced to the NFC Championship game for the first time since 1991.
But general manager Jason Licht believes this season could be different, and there is reason for excitement.
"I think we have a sneaky, very sneaky, very talented, young team. I know we've got some veterans like Mike, Chris and Vita, Lavonte, but we've got some answers behind them too," Licht said on the Sports Day Tampa Bay podcast with Rick Stroud. "I'm very, very excited about this team. I like our team. I like it a lot. We've got a lot of talent, but more importantly, I think we've have the right kind of people and this team has a lot of chemistry right now.

"And the culture, because of the type of players we have, but the type of culture that Todd manifests and fosters here as the head coach, because I mean, he's the leader of this team. ... I'm very, very excited.'
There was a special focus on defense this offseason, and Licht has addressed that in free agency and the draft.
It's hoped the defense can be just as effective as the offense was last season and is expected to be again after returning all 11 starters on that side of the ball.

Former UNC football star praised by ESPN, his OC ahead of rookie NFL season
Will Omarion Hampton be the next UNC football star in the NFL? Ashton Jeanty stole headlines over the past two college football seasons, but right behind him was another star-studded running back in Chapel Hill: Omarion Hampton. Starting 2023 behind British Brooks on UNC's depth chart, Hampton became the full-time starter by Week 3. Hampton formed a deadly offensive duo with Drake Maye during 2023, forcing opposing defenses to choose how they'd slow the Tar Heel stars down, then Hampton became the feature of North Carolina's offense in 2024. With a distinguished college career that included 3,565 rushing yards 36 rushing touchdowns, Hampton's NFL suitors quickly took notice. The Los Angeles Chargers selected Hampton with this year's 22nd overall pick, pairing him with offseason acquisition Najee Harris. Through roughly two months of offseason activities, Hampton is proving to be plenty worthy of his draft selection. Check out what ESPN and Hampton's offensive coordinator, Greg Roman, said about the rookie back from Chapel Hill: "Hampton has been the talk of the Chargers' offseason activities, for his play on the field and his physical stature," ESPN's Kris Rihm wrote. "At Hampton's introductory news conference, coach Jim Harbaugh jokingly grabbed his 6-foot, 221-pound rookie by the shoulders and said to reporters, "That looks like a football player, right?" "He's the total package," offensive coordinator Greg Roman said. "You don't see a lot of guys find a hole like he's doing right now." Harris should be LA's Day One starter, rushing for over 1,000 yards in each of his first four NFL seasons, but Hampton could form an unstoppable 1-2 punch with his new backfield mate. Buccaneers extend coach Todd Bowles, GM Jason Licht
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed coach Todd Bowles and general manager Jason Licht to multiyear extensions, the team announced Thursday. Bowles, 61, is entering his fourth season as the Bucs' head coach, leading them to a 27-24 record, winning the NFC South three times and making the playoffs each year. Last year, Tampa Bay finished 10-7 and lost to the Washington Commanders in the wild-card round. Advertisement In early 2022, the team promoted Bowles from defensive coordinator after Bruce Arians retired from coaching. Bowles led the defense for three years, including during the Buccaneers' 2020 Super Bowl-winning season. 'Jason and Todd's excellent leadership and vision have been critical to our organizational success, and the winning culture they have established has us well positioned into the future,' Buccaneers owner and co-chairman Joel Glazer said in a statement. 'Jason has evolved into one of the top talent evaluators and general managers in the NFL, while Todd has led us to three consecutive division titles and is one of the league's leading defensive minds. Under their guidance, we will continue building towards another championship.' Licht, 54, is entering his 12th season with Tampa Bay. Under his guidance, the Buccaneers have drafted integral players such as Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Tristan Wirfs, among others. Licht also signed veteran quarterback Tom Brady ahead of the 2020 season, which resulted in the franchise winning its second Super Bowl.

Brian Baldinger breaks down Quinn Meinerz's impressive blocking
NFL Network's Brian Baldinger recently released a video breaking down the impressive, powerful blocking of Denver Broncos star guard Quinn Meinerz. "[Watch] Quinn Meinerz taking this one-technique and moving him off the ball," Baldinger says at the beginning of the video. You watch the feet of the New Orleans Saints right here. Watch him -- he can't stay in front of [Meinerz]. The feet are sliding and he just keeps giving up ground all the way to the point where The Mighty Quinn and Javonte Williams score together. And it's a great, great look." Baldinger then switched to an angle from the offense's side. "Now watch what he does here," Baldinger says. "Just watch his feet and his hips, and watch the movement that he gets -- watch him climb. ... That is The Mighty Quinn. One of the more powerful people in the NFL because he moves big people in the NFL." Meinerz was named a first-team All-Pro last season, and Pro Football Focus ranked him as the NFL's third-best guard this offseason. The 26-year-old lineman is entering his fifth season in the NFL, amazingly still seeking his first Pro Bowl nod. He seems likely to make the all-star game in 2025.
