With a successful career in Bengali industry, Arjun Chakrabarty is now making a bold leap into Hindi TV with a supernatural twist. Starring in an upcoming daily show that blends mystery and drama, the actor opens up about navigating a new industry, handling the pressures of a daily soap, and bringing an emotional depth to his role.
In an exclusive chat with Times of India TV, he shares his excitement, the challenges of supernatural storytelling, and the support he's received from his team.
Speaking about his transition from Bengali to Hindi industry, Arjun shared, "Everyone dreams of making it big in the Hindi industry and I'm no different. I'm grateful that things are finally falling into place.
When asked if he faced a language barrier, he said, "Language was never a hurdle.
My whole family is fluent in Hindi. Honestly, I'm probably the least fluent among them. But the script by Shahana Ma'am and the wonderful team of writers helped me tremendously. And of course, our director, Ravi Sir, has been like an elder brother, a true mentor and guide. He's helping all of us grow as performers.'
Arjun further shared that his new show, which is a supernatural daily series, is a different kind of story and comes with its own creative challenges.

"Every project brings its own hurdles, and this one is no different. I haven't really worked in the supernatural space before, so acting in scenes where you're reacting to things that aren't physically present — that's a fresh experience. Plus, since my character can't see ghosts, it's even more mentally engaging.
But I'm loving every bit of it."
On being asked about the audience's response to the show, he beams. "The reaction has been overwhelmingly positive.
Social media lit up with conversations when the promo aired. Viewers are really tuned into Colors' past record with similar shows, and reading the comments not just from my Bengali fans, but from across the country has been truly heartening. Narayani Ma'am, Shruti, Ravi Sir, they all come with their own loyal audiences, and that's added to the excitement.
"
Having already established himself in the Bengali industry, he admits that stepping into Hindi television feels like starting anew. "Yes, there's a mix of nervousness and excitement. It's a fresh beginning. People in Bengal may know me, but in the Hindi TV space, I'm still being introduced. I love the craft — acting in Hindi, Bengali, or English, as long as I can understand and connect with the role. I'm just hoping for acceptance and continued positivity from the audience.
So far, the response has been encouraging. I just hope that continues, and that viewers enjoy what we've created."

Kamal Haasan's ‘Thug Life' fined Rs 25 lakh for early OTT release after box office failure

Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam's much-anticipated film Thug Life has hit another roadblock following its disappointing theatrical run. Released on June 5, the film failed to attract audiences and has been pulled from most theatres across India within three weeks. Now, its early shift to streaming has drawn penalties from multiplex chains. According to a report by Pinkvilla, Thug Life will be fined ₹25 lakh for breaching the industry-standard 8-week theatrical window before its OTT release. The film is set to premiere on Netflix just four weeks after its theatrical debut, which is half the time typically observed by national multiplex chains. A source quoted in the report said, 'There's a norm in North India to strictly follow an 8-week window. As Thug Life has breached this guideline, the National Multiplex Chains have imposed a fine on the producers. The producers and distributors will forgo their theatrical share from the Hindi version, which amounts to ₹25 lakh.' The source also revealed that Thug Life's digital rights were originally valued at ₹130 crore, but Netflix renegotiated the deal due to the film's poor performance. The final deal was reportedly settled at ₹110 crore, along with an agreement for a reduced OTT window. This marks the second time Kamal Haasan's production team has deviated from the 8-week rule, the first being with Indian 2. While multiplexes are urging the makers to delay the digital release, the film is still expected to debut on Netflix in the coming days. Thug Life features an ensemble cast including Silambarasan, Trisha Krishnan, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Ali Fazal, and more. Co-written and co-produced by Haasan, the film is backed by Raaj Kamal Films International and Madras Talkies. The film drew immense controversy recently due to Haasan's remarks on Tamil-Kannada issues.
