'Jurassic World Rebirth' Dominates Box Office Over Holiday Weekend
'Jurassic World Rebirth' dominated the box office over the holiday weekend, grossing over $147 million at the domestic box office and putting it on track to earn back its reported budget—but it's still a step down from previous installments' opening weekends. The stars of "Jurassic World Rebirth," Mahershala Ali, Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey and ... More Rupert Friend attend the film's New York premiere in June. 2025 Invision 'Jurassic World Rebirth,' the latest in the series that began with Stephen Spielberg's 1993 blockbuster 'Jurassic Park,' grossed about $147.3 million over the long Independence Day weekend, according to multiple Hollywood trade publications with advance box office figures. The film's debut was boosted by opening two days early for the extended holiday weekend, capturing $25.3 million at the box office on its Thursday opening night and $26.3 million on Independence Day. 'Jurassic World Rebirth' grossed an additional $171 million internationally, for a combined total of more than $318 million. The latest installment in the historically expensive franchise had a budget of about $180 million, sources told the Hollywood Reporter, although this figure does not include marketing costs—a considerable step down from the massive $1.1 billion production the previous two films cost Universal Pictures. 'Jurassic World Rebirth' is another franchise reset for the series that began in 1993, the first in a new series of films starring Scarlett Johansson and Jonathan Bailey. Despite the strong numbers, it had the weakest opening weekend compared to the last three films released since 2015. 'Jurassic World Rebirth' only made about $91.5 million in domestic box office sales from Friday through Sunday without the early holiday release days, Variety reported. 'Jurassic World,' the 2015 franchise reset and first installment in 14 years, posted a $208.8 million opening weekend, and its two sequels, 'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom' (2018) and 'Jurassic World Dominion' (2022), grossed $148 million and $145 million, respectively. What To Watch For All three of the latest 'Jurassic Park' installments have grossed over $1 billion overall. With a weaker domestic opening, it's unclear whether 'Jurassic World Rebirth' will meet this same milestone. However, the franchise clearly remains popular around the globe, and international box office sales boosted each previous installment. International box office sales accounted for more than $1 billion of 'Jurassic World' (2015)'s box office revenue.

PFL exec offers Donald Trump a White House card with Francis Ngannou prior to UFC event
The idea of hosting fights at the White House has the entire MMA world going crazy, and PFL wants in on the action. During a recent speech, president Donald Trump revealed the idea of hosting a UFC event at the executive residence as a part of the country's 250th anniversary. Trump wants to go big and host 25,000 spectators, similar to a typical UFC pay-per-view event on Independence Day in 2026. Even though there were no additional details, Trump's press secretary Karoline Leavitt said the president was "dead serious" about the event. Advertisement Now, PFL wants to be part of the festivities, creating an all-day MMA extravaganza. PFL chairman and founder Donn Davis tagged Trump in a message on X (formerly Twitter), offering a stacked lineup of seven fights that would take place prior to UFC event. The proposed fight card includes the biggest names in the promotion including Francis Ngannou, Cris Cyborg, Dakota Ditcheva and Usman Nurmagomedov. "MMA at White House great idea @realDonaldTrump for July 4, 2026," Davis wrote. "PFL has WOW fight card for MMA fans to celebrate USA 250 anniversary! @PFLMMA afternoon @ufc evening" The full fight card proposed by Davis includes: Advertisement Francis Ngannou vs. Vadim Nemkov Usman Nurmagomedov vs. Paul Hughes Dakota Ditcheva vs. Liz Carmouche Renan Ferreira vs. Denis Goltsov Johnny Eblen vs. Corey Anderson Cris Cyborg vs. Larissa Pacheco AJ McKee vs. Jesus Pinedo While the president may be serious about hosting an MMA event on the White House grounds, there are significant logistical hurdles. The White House is not a sports event venue, and does not have an indoor area large enough to host an event at the scale Trump wants. Therefore, the event would have to take place outdoors, which major promotions typically avoid due to weather. The UFC has always maintained a firm stance against hosting fights outdoors due to conditions that could affect the fighting surface, potentially causing problems for the fighters. However, considering the relationship between Trump and UFC CEO Dana White, the promotion may make an exception to pull off the event. If it goes forward, PFL hopes to be a part of the action too.
