Iran launches missiles at Israel; multiple blasts heard across Jerusalem, Khamenei vows severe retaliation

Air‑raid sirens rang out across Jerusalem and other parts of Israel Friday evening, as the Israeli military confirmed detection of dozens of ballistic missiles launched from Iran.
AFP journalists in Jerusalem reported hearing loud booms similar to those associated with missile interceptions, while Israeli TV broadcast dramatic images of smoke rising in Tel Aviv following what appeared to be strikes . As of now, there are no confirmed reports of casualties.
Shortly after the attacks, Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said that Israel's deadly attacks on his country will "bring it to ruin", vowing retaliation.
"The armed forces of the Islamic republic will inflict heavy blows upon this malevolent enemy," Khamenei said in a televised speech, adding that the consequences of the Israeli attack "will bring it to ruin".
This exchange follows an intense escalation earlier Friday, when Israel conducted 'Operation Rising Lion,' launching its largest-ever pre‑emptive strike on Iranian nuclear and military targets, including Natanz, Fordow, Isfahan and Tehran, killing senior commanders and nuclear scientists.
Iran responded with missile and drone retaliation, possibly involving over 100 drones, many of which were intercepted.
Meanwhile, a fresh wave of explosions rocked multiple regions across Iran on Friday evening.
Iranian state media reported blasts in western Tehran Province, including the cities of Shahriar and Malard, as well as in the Chitgar neighborhood within Tehran itself. Additional reports noted an explosion in Pakdasht, located southeast of the capital.
A significant explosion was also reported in Isfahan, a central Iranian city that hosts several nuclear facilities.
According to the Mehr news agency, the blast occurred late Friday, though specific details remain scarce.
The latest tweet from Israeli military said. "The IDF attacked the nuclear site in the Isfahan region
At this moment, Air Force fighter jets have completed an attack on the Iranian regime's nuclear site in the Isfahan area, under precise intelligence guidance from the Intelligence Branch.
The site is undergoing a process of 'reconversion' of enriched uranium. This is the next stage after uranium enrichment in the process of producing nuclear weapons.
The attack destroyed a structure for producing metallic uranium, infrastructure for converting enriched uranium, laboratories, and other infrastructure."

India Issues Fresh Advisory For Nationals In Israel Amid Iranian Strikes

New Delhi: India on Sunday issued a fresh advisory for nationals in Israel as tensions in the Middle East continued to rise. The Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv asked all Indians to stay vigilant and avoid any unnecessary movement while adhering to the safety protocols issued by the Israeli authorities. "The Embassy of India in Tel Aviv is in touch with members of the Indian community in Israel, including caregivers, workers, students, businessmen and tourist groups. All necessary measures are being taken to ensure their safety and well-being," said the Embassy's statement. It added that India is monitoring the situation closely and is in regular touch with the Israeli authorities. "All Indian nationals are once again advised to stay vigilant, strictly avoid any unnecessary movement and adhere to the safety protocols as advised by the Israeli authorities and home front command ( Safety and security of Indian nationals is most paramount for us," the advisory said. The embassy also issued telephonic (+972 54-7520711 or +972 54-3278392) and email Helplines for any Indians who are in distress in Israel. The advisory came a day after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu briefed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the evolving situation over Tel Aviv's operation 'Rision Lion'. In an earlier advisory on Saturday, India has asked its nationals in Israel to remain alert and follow local safety and emergency protocols. Israel and Iran, meanwhile, continued to launch fresh attacks on each other into Sunday, killing scores of people on both sides. Tehran said at least 138 people were killed in Israel's onslaught since Friday, including 60 on Saturday, half of them children, when a missile brought down a 14-storey apartment block in Tehran. Iranian missile fire targeting Israel in response killed at least 10 people overnight, according to Israeli authorities, pushing the number of deaths to 13 since Iran began its retaliatory strikes Friday, with 380 reported injured. With no let-up in sight, US President Donald Trump on Sunday urged Iran and Israel to "make a deal" and bring their deadly exchange of strikes to an end. "Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal," Trump said on his Truth Social media platform, adding that there are "many calls and meetings now taking place" on the issue and that peace could be achieved "soon" between the longtime adversaries.

Video: How Israeli Forces Intercepted 20 Iranian Drones In An Hour

Tel Aviv: Israeli air and naval forces intercepted at least 20 drones launched from Iran in an hour on Sunday, according to the Israel Defence Forces (IDF). The Israeli air force also released a video of its forces downing several unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on its official X account. "In the past hour alone, the Air Force intercepted approximately 20 UAVs launched toward Israeli territory," the IDF said in a public update. Earlier in the day, the IDF said at least seven other drones were downed by Israeli forces over the Mediterranean and the Negev region. חיל-האוויר יירט בשעה האחרונה כ-20 כלי טיס בלתי מאוישים ששוגרו לעבר שטח הארץ — Israeli Air Force (@IAFsite) June 15, 2025 Israel's Warning To Iran Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Iran would pay "a very heavy price" for killing Israeli civilians, as the two foes kept up intense fighting. "Iran will pay a very heavy price for the premeditated murder of civilians, women and children," Netanyahu said during a visit to the site of a missile strike on a residential building in the coastal city of Bat Yam, near Tel Aviv. Iran's missile attacks on Israel Saturday night and early Sunday killed 10 people and wounded more than 200, according to first responders, bringing the total number of fatalities from Iranian strikes to 13. Missiles that broke through Israel's air defence system also caused damage and destruction in several areas, including Bat Yam, Tel Aviv and in the country's north. "Israel absolutely had to carry out this operation," Netanyahu said in reference to the waves of strikes carried out across Iran on military and nuclear sites since Friday morning. The operation, dubbed "Rising Lion", officially aims to keep Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, and has hit more than 250 targets, according to Israel's military. "We will reach all our objectives and we will eliminate the double existential threat," Netanyahu added, referring to Iran's nuclear programme and its ballistic missile capabilities. Attacks Continue By Sunday evening, both Tel Aviv and Tehran had launched a new wave of attacks on each other, as an intense exchange of fire raged between the two sides for a third day. Iranian media said an Israeli strike hit the Tehran police headquarters in the city centre on Sunday, as the two foes exchanged fire for a third day. "The Greater Tehran Police Command was hit by one of the enemy's drones," ISNA news agency reported, citing a police statement. It added that the attack caused "minor damage" and injured "a number" of police personnel.
