A User-friendly Guide For Tourist Seeking To Explore Mosques
Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan said the directory was developed to cater to the needs of tourists looking for places of worship, cultural experiences, or heritage attractions, while also providing mosques that welcome visitors with greater visibility and reach.
He said the directory goes beyond a mere listing of locations, functioning as a platform that enables tourists to easily access comprehensive information about mosques, including their historical background, local community highlights, available facilities, and nearby tourist attractions.
"This initiative also creates opportunities for local communities to actively participate in the tourism sector, in line with the spirit of Malaysia MADANI, which emphasises citizen involvement and shared prosperity," he said.
He said this to reporters after closing the 2025 Mosque Tourism Roundtable (MTRT) and the Launch of the Mosque Tourism Directory, here today. Also present was Acting Director General of the Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC) Nur Alyssa Coraline Yussin.
Khairul Firdaus said that the Tourism Mosque directory is an important step in the lead-up to Visit Malaysia Year (TMM) 2026, particularly in positioning mosques as unique and valuable tourism products.
'To date, 51 mosques have been listed in the Tourism Mosque Directory, and we welcome any parties interested in being included in this directory to contact the ITC to coordinate the necessary arrangements,' he said.
Among the tourism mosques currently accessible on the My Muslim Trip website are the Jamek Muhammadi Mosque in Kelantan, the Putra Mosque in Putrajaya and the Federal Territory Mosque in Kuala Lumpur.
Meanwhile, commenting on MTRT 2025, Khairul Firdaus emphasised that mosque tourism should be seen as a bridge connecting visitors to the values, heritage, and simplicity of Islam, while creating space for interfaith and intercultural dialogue.

King gives royal assent to 20 laws including Media Council, Online Safety and EPF amendment Acts
KUALA LUMPUR, July 21 — The BERNAMA (Amendment) Act 2025, Parliamentary Services Act 2025, and Malaysian Media Council Act 2025 are among 20 Acts that have received royal assent from His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia. Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul said other Acts include the Constitution (Amendment) Act 2025, Sabah Labour Ordinance (Amendment) Act 2025, Sarawak Labour Ordinance (Amendment) Act 2025, Labuan Companies (Amendment) Act 2025, and Labuan Trusts (Amendment) Act 2025. Also granted royal assent were the Labuan Limited Partnerships and Limited Liability Partnerships (Amendment) Act 2025, Legal Profession (Amendment) Act 2025, Online Safety Act 2025, and Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board (Amendment) Act 2025. 'The Agong has also assented to the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities (Amendment) Act 2025, Tunku Abdul Rahman Foundation Fund (Amendment) Act 2025, Supplementary Supply (2024) Act 2025, and Constitution (Amendment 2) Act 2025. 'Also approved were the Fire Services (Amendment) Act 2025, Government Services Efficiency Commitment Act 2025, and Employees Provident Fund (Amendment) Act 2025,' he said during the Dewan Rakyat sitting today. Separately, in his proclamation at the start of the Second Meeting today, Johari announced that the sitting will run for 24 days, with a key focus on the tabling of the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP). As such, he said this parliamentary sitting is expected to extend into the night to allow Members of Parliament ample time to debate and discuss the core elements of the 13MP. 'Key matters to be debated and considered during this session include Bills, motions related to the 13MP, the Auditor-General's Report 2/2025, and the Annual Report and Financial Statements of the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM),' he said. He also thanked all MPs who supported the enactment of the Parliamentary Services Act following its royal assent. Thai Citizens To Benefit From 20 Baht Train Fare Starting October
BANGKOK, July 21 (Bernama) -- The Thai government is on track to implement the imposition of a maximum fare for electric train travel in Greater Bangkok for its citizens. Starting Oct 1, a flat rate of 20 baht (US$0.62) will be implemented for Thai citizens. The scheme covers the entire eight lines comprising 13 routes within Bangkok and its surrounding provinces, spanning 276.84 kilometres and 194 stations. bootstrap slideshow Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Suriya Juangroongruangkit, in a statement on Monday, expressed confidence that the public would significantly benefit from this initiative. Suriya confirmed that by August 2025, eligible Thai citizens would be able to register for the scheme via the government's Tang Rat mobile application. Expressing appreciation to Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt for a recent meeting to strengthen mutual understanding and cooperation, Suriya said he has also tasked the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) to implement a feeder bus system. Short-distance shuttle buses will be deployed along the electric train routes to enhance connectivity and convenience for commuters. He said the government is expediting the establishment of a fund to promote an integrated ticketing system by utilising the accumulated revenue of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) to compensate operators for fare revenue shortfalls. The plan to cap electric train fares in Greater Bangkok was approved by the Thai Cabinet earlier this month to reduce commuting costs and encourage motorists to switch to public transportation.
