Court orders blocking 27 YouTube channels
Islamabad Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Abbas Shah issued a two-page order after hearing a request filed by the newly formed National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). The NCCIA had contended that the channels were involved in propagating false and misleading information against state institutions.
The channels include those run by renowned journalists such as Orya Maqbool Jan, Aftab Iqbal, Mutiullah Jan, Imran Khan Riaz and Asad Toor.
"[This propaganda] is likely to cause fear, panic, disorder and unrest in the general public or society with defamatory and fake remarks. [This also] violates the privacy and harms the dignity of the officials of the state institutions," it added.
According to the NCCIA, through these channels, the content creators attempted to provoke the general public and armed forces personnel by trying to create a feeling of ill-will among the pillars of state.
In its order, the court noted that after examining the facts and evidence presented by the NCCIA inquiry officer, the court was convinced that the channels were committing offences under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Peca), 2016 and penal laws in the country.
"The head/office in-charge of the Security Department/Custodian of Records to Google LLC, D/A/B YouTube 901 Cherry Avenue, San Bruno, CA 94066 USA is therefore directed to block/remove the said YouTube channel," the order noted.

SC questions LHC's decision in Imran bail rejection ruling
The Supreme Court issued a notice on Tuesday to the prosecution in a petition filed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, challenging the Lahore High Court's (LHC) rejection of his post-arrest bail in eight cases linked to May 9 incidents. A three-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Yahya Afridi and comprising Justice Shafi Siddiqui and Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the case. The bench headed by CJP Afridi observed that the court would not give any final finding that could affect the merits of the pending case. CJP Afridi asked the both the defence and prosecution counsels to assist the court on the legal question of whether final observations can be made in a bail order. He noted that the LHC had given a final opinion in its bail decision, raising the question of whether such findings were permissible. The decision, delivered by a two-member bench led by Justice Shahbaz Ali Rizvi, followed the conclusion of arguments from both prosecution and defence. Imran's legal team had argued that the former prime minister was implicated without credible evidence while he was already in custody and denied any involvement in the violence. Before the apex court on Tuesday, Punjab government counsel Zulfiqar Naqvi told the court that no notice had been issued to them in the matter, to which the CJP said the notice would be issued today. Denying PTI counsel Salman Safdar's request to prepone the hearing, the court slated the hearing for August 19 as per schedule. Protests on May 9, 2023, broke out across the country after Imran's arrest from the premises of Islamabad High Court (IHC), where he appeared for a hearing in connection with a graft case. Several civil and military installations were damaged during the protests and ensuing chaos. Imran, who has been jailed since August 2023 after multiple convictions, remains a central figure in Pakistani politics despite his ouster in April 2022 through a no-confidence vote. Several PTI leaders and workers remain incarcerated over the May 9 incidents, while others have been granted bail.

At least three more terrorists killed in Zhob counter-terrorism sweep
Listen to article Security forces killed on Tuesday at least three more terrorists during a sanitisation operation on the night of August 10 and 11 in the general area of Sambaza along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, said a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The military's media wing added that weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the killed terrorists. The action follows earlier anti-infiltration operations in the area. Over the last four days, security forces have intercepted infiltration attempts along the border and killed at least 47 terrorists. The total has now risen to at least 50. The report cites high-profile, complex attacks claimed by these groups in 2025 to illustrate the level of operational synchronisation between them. The TTP and its affiliated groups had fled across the border into Afghanistan following their rout in a major military operation, codenamed Zarb-e-Azb, in the erstwhile tribal areas of Pakistan in 2014. There, they found safe havens which they have since used as launch pads for attacks inside Pakistan. Balochistan hosts major projects under the multi-billion-dollar China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), part of Beijing's Belt and Road Initiative, and has often been targeted in insurgent attacks.

FIA arrests three more illegal currency dealers in Quetta
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Balochistan has arrested three more suspects for their alleged involvement in Hawala/Hundi and illegal currency exchange as the law enforcers continue their crackdown on illegal currency dealers. The development came days after a Pakistan court sentenced three illegal currency dealers to five years in prison and imposed a fine of Rs1 million on each for their involvement in unlawful foreign exchange trading. The law enforcement agencies (LEAs) including the FIA have arrested at least eight illegal currency dealers in the past two weeks – since a crackdown was launched against illegal currency dealers and smugglers. The LEAs have intensified the crackdown to help Pakistani rupee recover against US dollar and other world major currencies. FIA arrests one more in ongoing crackdown against illegal currency dealers The FIA said noose is being tightened around illegal currency dealers on directive of FIA Director General Riffat Mukhtar Raja. The suspects identified as Abdul Bari, Sanaullah and Asadullah have been arrested from different parts of Quetta, it said in a statement on Tuesday. 'A total 2.7 million Irani Riyal and 3,050 Afghani currency were recovered from the suspects, in addition to mobile phones and other evidence of Hawala/Hundi (currency smuggling),' the agency said. The FIA said the suspects failed to give satisfactory replies to the authorities regarding their possession of foreign currency. Following which, an investigation was launched after taking them into custody, it added. The court of the First Additional Sessions Judge, Sukkur, had on August 8 jailed three illegal currency dealers for five years and imposed a fine of Rs1 million each. The convicts included Qamar Shehzad, Muhammad Zeeshan, and Zubair Asghar. The FIA Composite Circle Sukkur had registered the case against them. The crackdown has supported the domestic currency strengthened against US dollar and other currencies in inter-bank and open markets in recent days. Court jails 3 illegal currency dealers for 5 years, fines Rs1mn each According to State Bank of Pakistan's (SBP) data, the rupee has regained a total of Rs2.4 against US dollar since launch of the crackdown on July 23, 2025 to date, closing at Rs282.5/$ in the inter-bank market on August 8 compared to Rs284.9/$ on July 22, 2025. Earlier, the rupee had lost almost Rs3 to a dollar in the prior seven weeks to Rs284.9/$ on July 22, 2025 since June 1, 2025. Talking to Business Recorder on July 23, Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan (ECAP) chairman Malik Muhammad Bostan said he had led a currency dealers' delegation to the Director General of Counter Intelligence (DGC) at the Inter-Services Intelligence of Pakistan (ISI) in Islamabad. According to an ECAP statement then, Bostan apprised the DGC about the currency smuggling to Iran and Afghanistan. 'Due to higher black market rates, the supply of dollars is decreasing to legal currency dealers day-by-day,' he was quoted as saying in the statement. 'On this, General Faisal Naseer [DGC] immediately ordered law enforcement agencies to crack down on currency smugglers and arrest them,' the ECAP said.
