Cyber crime crackdown: 37 arrested across six states, Rs 14.54 crore recovered
Hyderabad: In a significant breakthrough, the Hyderabad Cyber Crime unit has arrested 37 cyber fraudsters from across the country. These individuals were implicated in 178 cases, including 74 reported in Telangana. Officials also successfully refunded Rs 14.54 crore to victims who had lost money to these cyber fraudsters during the month of May.
Police confirmed arrests of five persons from Andhra Pradesh, five from Delhi, two from Uttar Pradesh, two from Gujarat, two from Haryana, three from Rajasthan, and eighteen from Telangana. Seized items included 74 mobile phones, 26 Aadhar Cards, 156 cheque books, 11 debit cards, 22 SIM cards, 8 bank passbooks, 5 rubber stamps, 115 shell company stamps, 11 laptops, OTP detectors, QR code scanners, PAN Cards, and swiping machines.
According to Cyber Crime police, the accused were involved in cases reported across numerous states: six cases in Andhra Pradesh, seven in Delhi, 44 in Karnataka, 29 in Maharashtra, one in Manipur, five in Chhattisgarh, six in Kerala, six in Haryana, two in Odisha, 26 in Tamil Nadu, five in Punjab, 16 in Gujarat, eight in Bihar, eight in Rajasthan, one in Pondicherry, one in Uttarakhand, one in Jharkhand, seven in Madhya Pradesh, 11 in Uttar Pradesh, and 11 in West Bengal.
Cyber Crime officials advised the public not to panic if they receive threatening video calls claiming to be from agencies such as CBI, RBI, ED, Customs, Judges, Cyber Crime police, Narcotics, FedEx, BSNL, TRAI, etc. They reiterated that no government agency or law enforcement official will make such Skype calls or demand money to resolve issues. The system does not involve digital arrests or online enquiries.

Rajasthan Man Killed By Wife, Her Lover; Rs 2 Lakh Offered To Hitmen For Crime
Last Updated: A man named was murdered in Alwar, Rajasthan, allegedly by his wife and her lover, who hired contract killers for Rs 2 lakh. The crime was exposed by the couple's minor son. In a case similar to the Raja Raghuvanshi case, a man in Rajasthan's Alwar was killed by his wife's alleged lover, along with other hitmen hired for the crime, which happened on June 7. According to multiple media reports, the woman was exposed by her minor son, who told the police he saw some men barge into their house late on June 7, and kill his father, while his mother stood there. The boy also told the police he identified one of the killers as 'Kashi Uncle'. Media reports claimed the man, identified as Man Singh Jatav, was found dead at his home, while his wife, Anita, attempted to pass off his death as a decline in his health. However, the couple's son, in a statement to the police, said his mother had left the door of their house open on June 7, and that's when he saw four men, including 'Kashi Uncle,' stepping in. They suffocated the man and then assaulted him, leading to his death, the boy told the police, referring to his father. He also said he got scared seeing the men kill his father and pretended to be asleep. However, he later got up to check on his father, when the man he identified as 'Kashi Uncle' threatened him with dire consequences if he narrated the incident to anyone. Power theft case: Sambhal MP deposits Rs 6 lakh
Sambhal: Samajwadi Party's Lok Sabha MP from Sambhal, Ziaur Rahman Barq, has deposited Rs 6 lakh with the electricity department following an Allahabad High Court order in an electricity theft case registered against him, officials here said on Tuesday. They also confirmed that the electricity supply to his residence will be restored later in the day. The case dates back to December 2023, when the electricity department installed a smart meter at the MP's residence on December 17. A load inspection was conducted on December 19, during which the department accused the MP of power theft. Subsequently, a penalty of Rs 1.91 crore was imposed on him. Despite being given multiple opportunities by the department to present his case, the MP challenged the penalty in court. On June 3, the Allahabad High Court directed that electricity supply be restored upon the MP depositing Rs 6 lakh with the department. Complying with the directive, the MP's counsel, Farid Ahmed, visited the local electricity office on Monday and submitted a demand draft for Rs 6 lakh. Speaking to reporters on Monday, Ahmed said, 'As per the High Court's instructions, we have deposited Rs 6 lakh with the electricity department today. We have also submitted a formal request to restore the power connection. The matter is now listed for further hearing in the High Court on July 2.' Naveen Gautam, Executive Engineer, Electricity Department, Sambhal, said, 'A power theft inspection was conducted at the MP's premises in December. He had filed a petition in court, and on June 3, the court ordered that electricity be restored upon depositing Rs 6 lakh. In line with that directive, the draft has been submitted. The MP's electricity connection will be reinstated today.' The case remains under judicial consideration, with the next hearing scheduled in the High Court on July 2.
