"Amarnath Yatra reflects unity, brotherhood of J-K": Dy CM Surinder Chaudhary
Chaudhary reviewed the preparations for the yatra, praising the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) for their exceptional work in redeveloping the track.
The Amarnath Yatra, a revered pilgrimage in Jammu and Kashmir, is set to begin on July 3, with thousands of devotees expected to participate.
Speaking to media reporters, Deputy CM Chaudhary said, 'This yatra is a festival of J-K. The beauty of this yatra is that the base camp is in Jammu and the shrine of Baba Amarnath is in Kashmir. This is the brotherhood of Jammu and Kashmir, which the world knows... I had come here to chair the review meeting of the yatra that starts on 3 July. I saw the track... It gives me immense pleasure to tell you that BRO has done an exemplary job at redeveloping the track.'
The 38-day yatra will commence on July 3 and conclude on August 9. The pilgrimage will follow two routes - the traditional 48-km Pahalgam route in Anantnag district and the 14-km shorter but steeper Baltal route in Ganderbal district. The first batch of pilgrims will depart from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on July 2.
'The working days in Kashmir are extremely few, and now, when the Yatra begins, work will again stop... The state government and the shrine board are managing the yatra...'
Apart from discussing the Yatra, Chaudhary also reiterated the Jammu and Kashmir administration's firm demand for the restoration of statehood.'Statehood leke rahenge. Chheen ke rahenge. Bilkul nahi rukenge,' he said.
Meanwhile, on Monday, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Baltal base camp to review necessary arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.
Sinha met with officials from all departments to review security, logistics, and coordination for this year's Amarnath Yatra.
He also said that the administration and security forces have made better arrangements this year to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage for devotees from across the country.
Speaking to the reporters, Sinha said, 'Officials from all departments were present in the meeting here today...The administration and the Shrine Board have together made better arrangements. The security forces have made very robust security arrangements. I hope that this time, people will be able to undertake the yatra even more successfully than before, and the devotees coming from all over the country will have a better experience here...'
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also spoke on the necessary arrangements facilitated for the pilgrims of the Amarnath Yatra.
He further stated that the Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha chaired two meetings ahead of the pilgrimage, one with the political parties and one with the civil society to ensure proper facilities for pilgrims. (ANI)

Infighting plagues J&K Congress, many senior leaders up in arms against PCC chief Tariq Hameed Karra
Even as the Congress central leadership is engaged in firefighting in Karnataka, a flare-up of dissidence in the J&K Congress unit, where many senior leaders have now turned against PCC president Tariq Hameed Karra and seeking his removal, is proving to be a concern for the leadership. The dissidents' camp didn't even attend the reception the J&K PCC president hosted last week in Srinagar for visiting AICC general secretary in-charge Syed Naseer Hussain. After Karra and Hussain jointly readmitted into the Congress, senior leader Ghulam Mohd Saroori, despite opposition, video clippings of Saroori terming (when he had quit Congress to join Ghulam Nabi Azad's party) Rahul Gandhi as "immature" and "incapable of ever becoming the PM" have now reached many AICC functionaries in Delhi. Sources said over 20 anti-Karra senior leaders of the J&K Congress, reportedly including CWC member and former PCC chief Vikar Rasool Wani, former deputy CM Tara Chand, senior leaders Ghulam Nabi Monga, Manoharlal Sharma and Mohd Anwar Bhatt, have now sought a meeting with party president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi to discuss the internal issues. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 기관지/호흡기질환에 특효인 [국내1%] 마신즉시 싹~ 녹는다! 2주만에 "가슴통증"까지 사라져 목구멍 가래 잔기침 개선 Undo Congress functionaries said ever since he was appointed PCC chief a year ago, Karra, a former PDP leader, faced resistance from sections of J&K Congress leaders, who consider him an "outsider" with no major support base within and with an "alien's understanding" of the Congress functioning. That internal resistance to Karra has grown into a larger Opposition after the party's poor show in the recent J&K polls, losing all seats in Jammu region and winning only about half-a-dozen seats in the Valley. While Karra and his supporters have been brushing aside the opposition, PCC president's post-poll debacle statement about dissolving many party committees and his decision to appoint some DCC presidents have also become contentious with dissidents taking the matter to the high command, accusing him of unilateralism and attempts to replace Congress leaders with outsiders. Jaishankar exchange view on deepening Quad engagement for free, open Indo-Pacific with Japan's counterpart
Washington, DC [US], July 1 (ANI): External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met Japanese Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya on the sidelines of the Quad Foreign Ministers' Meeting (QFMM) in Washington, DC, reaffirming India-Japan ties and strategic coordination in the Indo-Pacific region. Taking to social media platform X, Jaishankar wrote, 'Pleased to meet FM Takeshi Iwaya of Japan in New York this morning. Had comprehensive discussions on infrastructure, investment and mobility. Exchanged views on deepening our Quad engagement for a free and open Indo-Pacific.' He added that the 'Special, Strategic and Global Partnership continues to deepen and diversify,' reflecting the growing momentum in India-Japan ties across multiple sectors. Jaishankar is on an official visit to the United States at the invitation of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to participate in the QFMM. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the meeting will build on discussions from the last QFMM held in January and focus on regional and global developments, especially in the Indo-Pacific. 'The Ministers will also review the progress made on Quad initiatives and deliberate on new proposals to advance the shared vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific,' the MEA stated. The Quad is a diplomatic partnership between Australia, India, Japan, and the United States committed to supporting an open, stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific that is inclusive and resilient. The Quad's origins date back to the collaboration in response to the December 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Prior to his arrival in Washington, Jaishankar inaugurated an exhibition at the United Nations in New York titled 'The Human Cost of Terrorism', underscoring India's strong stance against terrorism. 'Terrorism anywhere is a threat to peace everywhere,' he said at the UN Headquarters, calling for zero tolerance and global cooperation to combat the menace. During his US visit, Jaishankar also spoke to Newsweek, where he hailed the enduring strength of India-US ties over the past 25 years. He emphasized that under the last five US Presidents--Clinton, Bush, Obama, Trump, and Biden--the bilateral relationship has consistently grown stronger. Jaishankar expressed optimism over ongoing trade negotiations between India and the US. 'We are in the middle, hopefully more than the middle, of a very intricate trade negotiation. My hope would be that we bring it to a successful conclusion,' he said, while acknowledging that final agreement depends on both sides. Highlighting structural drivers like economics, technology, education, security, and energy, he said these factors continue to strengthen the India-US relationship. He also noted that differences may arise, but the ability to address them constructively has helped maintain a positive trajectory. Jaishankar's visit comes at a critical time as India prepares to host the upcoming Quad Leaders' Summit. His engagements in the US aim to deepen India's strategic partnerships and advance shared goals in the Indo-Pacific and beyond. (ANI)
