Devastating blow to former NRL star

Maika Sivo's move to England has suffered a devastating setback with the destructive winger ruled out for the season after scans confirmed he suffered an ACL injury that requires surgery.
The try-scoring machine joined Leeds on a three-year deal following six successful seasons at the Eels where he crossed 104 times in just 115 appearances for the blue and golds.
Sivo had linked up with former Parramatta coach Brad Arthur at the Rhinos but will now miss the entire 2025 season after he hurt his left knee during the first half of their shock win over Wigan in Ash Handley's testimonial game.
Maika Sivo has been ruled out for the season with an ACL injury that will require surgery. Sad news for Maika and we wish him all the best with his recovery over the coming months.

'Our first thoughts are with Maika and we will all get round him and give him and his family our support,' Arthur said.
'Our medical team will make sure he has the best possible treatment to come back from the injury as soon as possible. Maika is a strong character and I am sure he will throw himself into his recovery to get back to his best.'
Leeds open their Super League campaign on February 16 and may have to hit the open market to replace a man who was tipped to score a stack of tries out wide.
'This is an extremely tough blow for us as a club but especially devastating for Maika who has fitted in so well in our group,' Rhinos sporting director Ian Blease said.
'We were all excited to see what he could do in Super League in 2025, but we will just have to wait for that now.
'In terms of our squad, we will need to review the full situation and look at all our options.
'We have some outstanding young players who could well now get the opportunity to grab their chance, and I will be discussing all our options with the club, Brad and the coaching staff in the coming weeks ahead of the season kicking off.'

Leeds Rhinos sign Salford loose forward Shorrocks

Leeds Rhinos have signed Salford loose forward Joe Shorrocks on loan until the end of the season. The 25-year-old made 15 Super League appearances for the beleaguered Red Devils this year. He could make his debut for Brad Arthur's side in Thursday's home game against leaders Hull KR. "As soon as I signed the deal, it felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders as it meant not having to worry about anything but rugby now," he told the club website. Shorrocks is the 14th senior professional to leave Salford this season because of their financial issues, and the third picked up by Rhinos with Kallum Watkins and Chris Hankinson also now at Leeds. The Red Devils have had to rely on loanees from other Super League teams but last Sunday's game against Wakefield Trinity was cancelled over welfare concerns, with the club saying only two of the 17 players available had any Super League experience over the past 12 months. But Salford say they will fulfil Friday's fixture against Leigh Leopards as planned.

Leeds United agree Milan deal following Daniel Farke transfer demand

Leeds United have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Noah Okafor from AC Milan in the summer transfer window. The winger, who has endured three injury-riddled years at San Siro, will be the Whites' tenth signing since winning promotion to the Premier League. Okafor joined Napoli on loan in January after a loan move to RB Leipzig fell through due to a muscular injury. He picked up a Scudetto winner's medal after making just four appearances, all off the bench. The 25-year-old has scored 43 goals and created 24 assists in 191 games in all competitions over the course of his professional career. Leeds United agree Milan deal following Daniel Farke transfer demand Okafor will be hoping for a fresh start at Elland Road as Fabrizio Romano reports that there is a 'deal in place' for Leeds to sign the player from Milan for a €20 million (£17.2m) transfer fee. The Switzerland international will sign a four-year contract with the option for another year and is expected to undergo his medical in the next 24 hours. The move follows Daniel Farke's comments that Leeds need attacking reinforcements to avoid relegation this season, despite having already brought in forwards Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. 'Especially in the offence it would be good to have a few more options available,' he told Sky Sports following their 1-0 home win over Everton on Monday night. 'With Dominic we got the first one. Hopefully pretty soon he will be involved, I'm quite sure. 'Like I mentioned before, we are ready for one, two, perhaps three, good Premier League games and I'm glad we got three points today. 'But to be ready for a long Premier League season, we definitely need a bit more quality up front. 'At this level, to bring players in who will improve our squad is pretty costly, but we've got ambitious owners and great people who work their socks off to give our club the best possible squad. 'I know everyone is really tempted to spend everything that is possible without risking the future of this club, so we won't do anything stupid.'
