Marilyn Bremner will soon have a girls' trip on her schedule.
The Sherwood Park woman is the latest Lotto 6-49 million-dollar guaranteed prize winner after matching the Nov. 27 Gold Ball Draw selection.
'I'm going to pay off my home and car, and then I'm heading out on a cruise!,' said Bremner in a news release Monday.
'My girlfriends and I all love to travel together and we're excited for this upcoming trip.'
Bremner said she was in complete disbelief when she discovered her win at a Save-On-Foods in Sherwood Park.
'The cashier told me I had won a million (dollars), and I began shaking,' said Bremner.
'I had to call a friend to pick me up!'
Bremner called her daughter to let her know about her newfound windfall, and she said her daughter was thrilled once she realized it was good news that her mom was sharing.
'I went to call my daughter and said I had something to tell her,' said Bremner.
'I think I scared her a little.'

Cancer survivor wins the lottery for a remarkable fourth time

A Canadian man has claimed a lottery jackpot for the fourth time in his life. David Serkin's latest victory came on May 3 when he claimed $1 million in a May 3 drawing of the Lotto 6-49 Gold Ball draw in Alberta, according to a press release from the Western Canada Lottery Corporation. This follows on from the $1 million he won in November 2024 and the $500,000 he won in August of the same year. Both victories were in the Lotto 6-49 drawing. That brings his total winnings to $2.5 million in less than a year. His first win was a $250,000 jackpot in 2013. 'I know the odds are astronomical. I don't think it'll happen again, but I still like buying tickets.' The odds of winning the jackpot are roughly 1 in 33 million, the WCLC said. Serkin, a resident of Lethbridge, around 130 miles south of Calgary, said that he has been purchasing lottery tickets for over 40 years. 'You check your ticket, and if you win, you're happy. If you don't, you can always try again,' he said. He told the WCLC's website that he is a cancer survivor and is retired. 'I am just so grateful for all of it,' Serkin said. The Lethbridge man described his recent win, saying that he was out for coffee with his sons when he checked his tickets. When he realized he had won, 'They asked to see it and said, 'Not again!' Serkin said that the last time he won, he took his wife, who he says is still in disbelief over his lucky streak, on a trip to Maui. This time, the couple is headed to Newfoundland for a vacation. After his win in November, Serkin said that he was using some of his winnings to help out his friends.

Teaser Trailer for the Anime Film 100 METERS About a Running Rivalry — GeekTyrant

GKids has revealed a teaser trailer for the upcoming new anime film 100 Meters , which centers on two characters who are gifted runners and their relationship. It starts out as a mentorship, and then turns into a rivalry. 100 Meters follows Togashi, 'a track star who is born to run. As a kid, he is naturally gifted and wins every 100-meter race without much effort. But in 6th grade, he meets Komiya, a transfer student who is full of determination but lacks technique. 'In teaching him, Togashi gives him a new purpose: to win no matter what. Years pass by, and Togashi and Komiya meet again later as rivals on the track and reveal their true selves.' This film has been getting a lot of positive buzz, and it comes from filmmaker Kenji Iwaisawa ( On-Gaku: Our Sound ) and the voice cast includes Shouta Sometani and Tori Matsuzaka. This looks like a great film and an awesome rivalry story that spans decades. I'm excited to watch this one, and it will open first in Japan on September 19th, 2025. GKids will also debut 100 Meters in US theaters starting October 2025.
