KwaZulu-Natal wakes to cold, dry weather with cloudy skies

KwaZulu-Natal residents woke up to brisk temperatures and partly cloudy skies on Monday, marking another cold and dry winter morning in the province. Durban started at just 9°C, while inland areas like Newcastle and Ulundi remained even more freezing. 'We are starting the day with a bit of fog over the South Coast and the adjacent interior,' reported the weather forecaster. Temperatures across KwaZulu-Natal will mostly stay in the upper teens throughout the day. Coastal regions fared slightly better, with Durban expected to peak at 23°C under mostly dry skies. 'It's going to be a dry one for the interior,' forecasters said. Pietermaritzburg and inland towns will experience cooler maximums, while the Drakensberg foothills remain particularly cold. Despite the sun's appearance through the clouds in the afternoon, conditions in KwaZulu-Natal will stay far from warm. The afternoon will bring slight improvements in visibility, but skies will remain partly to mostly cloudy in the eastern parts of the province. The South African Weather Service indicated no immediate rainfall, focusing on dry conditions for much of KwaZulu-Natal. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Cold weather grips Gauteng with partly cloudy skies

Gauteng experienced a biting cold weather start on Monday; with freezing morning temperatures and partly cloudy skies expected throughout the day. Johannesburg and Pretoria began the day at a chilling 6°C, while maximum temperatures across the province will struggle to rise above the upper teens. 'Temperatures will remain in the upper teens throughout the day,' a forecaster said, cautioning that residents should prepare for continued chill. Fire risk in Gauteng's nearby regions remains high While Gauteng faces cold weather and cloudy conditions, nearby areas like the Northern Cape face a different threat. The South African Weather Service issued a high fire danger warning for the northwestern parts of the Northern Cape. 'You need to be careful about fires in those parts of the country,' warned the forecaster. Gauteng, however, remains dry, mainly with no immediate threat of rain. The partly cloudy skies will offer brief moments of sun but will fail to bring significant warmth. Polokwane and other nearby areas recorded similar cold trends, with only minimal relief expected in the coming days. Till the afternoon, Gauteng will remain under partly cloudy skies, with cool to cold conditions stretching across the province. Weather update: Cold weather to grapple Gauteng and three other provinces

Gauteng, the North West, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo will experience freezing temperatures as cold air is expected to move across the country starting Monday. According to the South African Weather Service (SAWS), most areas in the province will remain clear initially, but significant changes are anticipated from midweek. Cool and sunny conditions are expected in many northern locations throughout the week. In Pretoria, Monday will bring cooler weather, with a minimum temperature of 4°C and a high of 15°C with clear sunny conditions. In Johannesburg, temperatures will drop to a low of 3°C, rising to 13°C by midday before cooling again in the evening. On Tuesday, temperatures are expected to rise slightly, reaching a maximum of 14°C in Johannesburg with no rainfall predicted. From Wednesday onward, temperatures in Gauteng are expected to improve, potentially signalling the end of winter as we approach August. Fine weather will continue in the northern parts of the country next week, including Limpopo and Mpumalanga, where it will remain warm. The SA Weather Service encourages the public to stay updated with the latest forecasts and warnings as conditions evolve throughout the week.
