The PLAYERS Championship – Third Round Leaderboard
ON CONDITIONS AT TPC SAWGRASS
Faxon on the wind factoring into play: 'It's incredible, everyone thinks into the wind is the hardest but down winds can be hard to manage as well. Rory (McIlroy) has a gap wedge that he hits 125 yards. He hit one shot that went 149 yards, and the next one only went 139 yards. That's ten yards of discrepancy on one wedge shot. It's going to be really tough.'
Wood on the wind: 'It's so hard today because the wind affects everything. You think, 'well it's an eight-foot putt, how can it affect it?' Well, you have to take into account for everything out here today.'
Faxon on the island green 17th hole: 'Easily one of the most unsettling shots in golf. Particularly later in the weekend with the wind.'
Kisner: 'The golf course and the weather won today.'
Chamblee on Live From: 'This was a real test today – a test of golf, but for these players today, more a test of yourself.'
Hicks: 'Pete Dye's place delivers 'crazy' every year.'
ON J.J. SPAUN (-12, Leader)
Kaufman on Spaun's recent success: 'He's been really consistent this year and it's because of his elite ball striking. He's been super consistent leading the field in tee-to-green this week.'
Kisner on Spaun's caddie Mark Carens: 'He was on the bag for Si Woo Kim when he won THE PLAYERS Championship, and he also lives just outside the back gate here. He tries to play as much golf here as he can. He is really coaching up J.J. and they are rolling.'
Hicks: 'He has played a brand of golf that is deserving of contending for the biggest title of his life tomorrow.'
Kisner: 'I've spent a lot of time with J.J. I played a lot of rounds with him last season on TOUR. I've always thought he could be a heck of a player and I always talk to him about his attitude. He's very quick to get down on himself, he works hard on that, and I've said, 'If you're going to have a long career out here, you've got to quit beating yourself up. You're too good.''
ON BUD CAULEY (-11, 2nd)
Cauley to Banks on what it would mean to get his first PGA TOUR victory at his hometown course and on what will be his 35th birthday: 'That would be amazing, there's a lot of golf left to play but as you mentioned I played this course every year growing up and even dreamt of playing it, let alone winning it. I'll give it a chance tomorrow and go out and have some fun.'
Lerner on Live From: 'He is playing the role of Seabiscuit longshot.'
ON LUCAS GLOVER (-9, T-3rd)
Hicks on his chip-in eagle on No. 16: 'Just when you least expect it! Double bogey and then an eagle – typical Stadium Course stuff.'

Caddie Ted Scott still not back with No. 1 Scottie Scheffler for BMW Championship prep
OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Scottie Scheffler may be without regular caddie Ted Scott this week for the BMW Championship, the second leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs. Scott, who has been on the bag for all 17 victories for Scheffler since they began working together in late 2021, skipped the final round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship on Sunday due to a private family matter. Scheffler used Brad Payne, a personal friend and the president of College Golf Fellowship. Payne drove to Memphis from his home in Dallas Saturday night. Scheffler shot 67 and finished T-3, his eighth consecutive top-10 finish. More: How much money did Scottie Scheffler's caddie Ted Scott make in 2024? Golf Channel's Todd Lewis reported on Sunday that Scott left for his home in Louisiana on Saturday night. On Tuesday, Scheffler was spotted playing a practice round at Caves Valley Golf Club with veteran caddie Michael Cromie on the bag. Cromie typically works for pro Chris Kirk, but Kirk finished 51st in the FedEx Cup season-long standings and, as a result, is out of the FedEx Cup playoffs. Only the top 50 in the field have advanced to the BMW Championship. Unclear if Ted Scott will return to BMW Championship It's unclear at this time if Scott needed a few extra days at home and is missing out on the practice rounds or if he is skipping the BMW and Cromie will work the tournament too. Scheffler already has clinched being first in the FedEx Cup point standings heading into the Tour Championship, the finale of the FedEx Cup, even if Rory McIlroy, who is currently second, were to win this week. Scheffler already has locked up the top FedEx Cup bonus at the end of the BMW and secured his spot in the Tour Championship, which no longer has the staggered start this year. Scheffler's agent didn't respond to a request for confirmation on Scott's status for this week when this story was originally published.

USA Network, Golf Channel ink USGA deal thru 2032
USA Network and Golf Channel have inked a long-term deal with the USGA that will feature live event and studio coverage of 11 championships, including the U.S. Open and U.S. Women's Open, on their networks. USA Network will present roughly 35 hours of live coverage from both the U.S. Open and U.S. Women's Open each year, while Golf Channel will have expanded live coverage of several USGA championships, including the U.S. Amateur, U.S. Women's Amateur, Walker Cup, Curtis Cup, U.S. Boys' and Girls' Junior, and U.S. Senior Women's Open and U.S. Adaptive Open. The USGA agreement, set to run through at least 2032, marks the first sports-media acquisition for Versant, the new independent media company set to be spun off from Comcast. The new elements of the deal will begin in 2027, after the end of the current agreement. NBC will continue to be the exclusive broadcast home of the U.S. Open, U.S. Women's Open and U.S. Senior Open. 'The value NBCU and Versant place on the USGA brand is evident,' said USGA CEO Mike Whan, 'and this agreement enables the USGA to further advance our mission to positively impact the game, while providing the most expansive coverage and broadest reach to showcase USGA championships.' Golf Channel's 'Live From' studio show will continue to deliver comprehensive pre- and post-round coverage on-site at the U.S. Open and U.S. Women's Open each year.
