Razorbacks' College World Series run is a grand slam for Arkansas businesses
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Arkansas Razorbacks are Omaha-bound for the College World Series, and while fans are thrilled about the team's first postseason appearance since 2022, it's not just the players who are racking up wins — local businesses are, too.
As excitement for a potential national title builds, that energy is translating directly into sales at stores across the state.
'I get a text, usually from my friends, saying they need a new Razorback shirt,' longtime fan Toni Goble said.

At Rock City Outfitters in Conway, online orders are spiking. Owner Ryan Ritchie said demand surges every time the Razorbacks have a successful run.
'Anytime they do well, you see that excitement build up. A lot more website visits, a lot more purchases, and everybody's in a good mood, so they tend to buy more,' Ritchie said.
He added that many fans feel personally connected to the gear they buy.
'It's fun, especially to look up in the stands at some of these games and see people wearing our shirts,' he said. 'Usually when they see it, they have a story behind it, or it reminds them of a time as a child going to a sporting event.'
That same postseason energy is being felt at Rally House Arkansas in Little Rock, where assistant store manager Carter Martin said foot traffic has increased significantly.
'Those are all gone — and we've been selling a lot of T-shirts,' Martin said.
As fans scramble for the latest gear, businesses are embracing the momentum and hoping the team's run continues.
'It's about building that connection with other Arkansans,' Ritchie said. 'And being able to create a product they can relate to and be proud to wear.'
Hogs sweep Vols to win Super Regional, Omaha next
With more College World Series games ahead, business owners say the economic ripple effect of the Razorbacks' run could last as long as their postseason streak.

Darwin Nunez could get Liverpool transfer wish as Man Utd star also on shortlist
The Liverpool transfer rumor mill may be primarily occupied with incoming deals right now, but there is sure to be lots of outgoing activity this summer too. Among those to depart could be Darwin Nunez, and a suitor whom he might favor has just emerged. Advertisement Liverpool does not need to sell to buy this summer, having only added Federico Chiesa to the ranks since Arne Slot arrived ahead of last season. But even though the anticipated arrival of Florian Wirtz is not contingent on departures, there is bound to be some reshaping as the coach begins to really put his stamp on the squad. Caoimhin Kelleher has already left for Brentford, finally pursuing the chance to become first-choice elsewhere. Jarell Quansah is being linked to Bayer Leverkusen, while a move in the other direction for Wirtz is bound to raise doubts in the mind of Harvey Elliott. READ MORE: Andy Robertson becomes first Liverpool player to address Florian Wirtz transfer READ MORE: Liverpool transfer news LIVE: Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez latest, Alexander-Arnold presentation Advertisement Meanwhile, it seems likely that Nunez has at last reached the end of the road at Liverpool. After three seasons, he has failed to find any consistent form, and Slot's preferred option now is surely to recoup as much of the initial outlay as possible and put it toward a truly elite number nine. Various names have been mentioned, including Hugo Ekitike, Joao Pedro, and of course Alexander Isak. Most recently, Liverpool has been tipped to go after Victor Osimhen. And that particular pursuit could end up working well for everyone. That's because Napoli, to whom Osimhen is registered, is considering Nunez as a potential replacement. According to Football Italia, Napoli is "pushing" for Nunez. It has been in touch with the Uruguayan recently. The Italian side is now committed to delivering some exciting arrivals. Advertisement Napoli has kept its options open in pursuit of a new striker, however. Along with Nunez, it has shortlisted Lorenzo Lucca from Udinese and Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United. The Man Utd forward appears more likely to be Inter-bound. Even so, his future could yet have a knock-on effect on Nunez. The Liverpool forward may well be hoping for the Napoli move to materialize. Linked persistently to Saudi Arabia, he has a clear preference to remain in Europe at a high level. READ MORE: Trent Alexander-Arnold joined by girlfriend as he reveals new name on Real Madrid jersey READ MORE: Liverpool told to switch focus to 'perfect' transfer once Florian Wirtz deal completed Advertisement Napoli would fulfil that wish for Nunez. It would afford him the opportunity to play in the Champions League next season, and to defend the Serie A title under a well-respected coach. But whether Liverpool and Napoli could reach an agreement remains to be seen. Nunez might prefer not to move to Saudi Arabia, and obviously has the final say in such matters, but Richard Hughes will no doubt be inclined to favor the bidding power of the Gulf state. Napoli would be unlikely to match that. A mutually-beneficial deal involving Osimhen may yet be the most likely path to an agreement, although it's unclear how interested Liverpool really is in the Nigerian marksman. But it's a reminder that despite his tough stint at Anfield, there is still a market for Nunez among some big clubs. Hopefully, he can get his wish this summer in a manner that means Liverpool doesn't miss out on a payday.

April was a bad time for Britain's economy. Trump's tariffs are a big reason why
Britain's economy shrank by the most in nearly two years in April, when President Donald Trump's tariffs also caused UK goods exports to the United States to fall by a record amount. Gross domestic product contracted by an estimated 0.3% that month – after expanding 0.2% in March – according to the Office for National Statistics, the sharpest month-on-month decline since October 2023. The drop was largely due to a contraction in the services sector, which took a knock after the government ended a tax break for some home buyers. But Trump's trade war also played a part. Rachel Reeves, Britain's finance minister, told the Sky News broadcaster Thursday that April had been a 'challenging month.' 'There was a huge uncertainty about tariffs… If you dig into those GDP numbers today, (we see) exports weakening and also production weakening because of that uncertainty in the world around tariffs,' she said. The value of UK goods exports to the US fell by £2 billion ($2.7 billion) in April compared with March – the largest drop since records began in 1997. The statistics office said the fall was 'likely linked to the implementation of tariffs' on Britain's US-bound exports. On April 2, Trump announced a battery of new tariffs on America's trading partners, including a baseline 10% levy on goods exports to the US and country-specific 'reciprocal tariffs,' although he has delayed the implementation of these until early July. The president has also imposed new tariffs on steel, aluminum and car imports. The United Kingdom has got off relatively lightly, with Trump applying only the baseline 10% tariff on imported British goods and agreeing to scrap tariffs on UK steel and aluminum. Britain was the first country to hash out a framework for a trade deal with Washington, which also included an agreement to lower tariffs on some imports of British cars. Even so, the tariffs, their erratic implementation and the resulting economic uncertainty have weighed on businesses and consumers in the UK. Yael Selfin, chief economist at KPMG UK, a consultancy, said Thursday that the accord between the US and the UK offers British 'businesses a degree of policy certainty,' yet tariffs on UK exports to America are still higher than their pre-April levels. 'This is expected to act as a headwind for UK trade in the medium term,' Selfin wrote in a note.
