While players await their free PlayStation Plus compensation for the recent PlayStation Network outage, it appears that some PS4 and PS5 owners are getting an extra reimbursement on top.Sony has started adding $10 (£7.90) in free store credit to the accounts of users who were affected by another recent glitch in the PlayStation Store. The issue, which occurred in late December, prevented players from redeeming PS Store vouchers or gift cards.

Sony's PlayStation State of Play is Happening Today: How to Watch It

Need to soak up some gaming news? On Wednesday, Sony will be sharing footage and perhaps offering some surprises in its next State of Play online event. The preview, which usually lasts less than an hour, will showcase titles for the PlayStation 5 and whatever else the gaming giant wants its fans to know about. In a blog post, Sony said the broadcast, which starts at 2 p.m. PT/5 p.m. ET will feature game developers from around the world showing off their PS5 titles. The last State of Play was in February and featured previews of games including Sonic Racing: Crossworlds, Lies of P: Overture and Saros from the studio behind Returnal. This time, Sony may be updating gamers with a God of War update, gameplay from Ghost of Yōtei, and (fingers crossed) updates for last year's fan-favorite hit Astro Bot. How to watch State of Play State of Play will stream live on YouTube and Twitch starting at 2 p.m. PT/5 p.m. ET. Come back to CNET after the broadcast for a roundup of what was presented and links to videos for each of the games featured on State of Play.

As Switch 2 fans worry about price increases, Nintendo of America president isn't too reassuring as he admits tariffs make for "a very fluid situation"

With tariffs, inflation, and memories of pandemic supply chain shortages still fresh in a lot of our minds, the question is: will the Nintendo Switch 2 remain at its current $450 price tag? The Switch 2's pre-orders were delayed in the US for a while due to the US tariffs imposed on much of the world. In particular, the high tariffs on China, Vietnam, and Cambodia, could affect the price of the Switch 2 as it's produced in these countries. Asked by IGN if Nintendo can commit to the Switch 2's current price into the future amid tariff uncertainties, Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser says: "We made a commitment by announcing the pricing of both the single SKU [stock keeping unit] at $449 and then the bundled SKU with Mario Kart World at $499. And we really thought it was important that we established that price point, even after further tariffs were announced, to give consumers that comfort that they would be able to purchase at that price point." Recently, both the PS5 and Xbox Series have seen price increases, likely due to inflation and tariffs, so people are worried the Switch 2 could get more expensive before it even comes out. "Obviously, it's still a very fluid situation and it's difficult to determine what may be happening in the upcoming months or weeks," Bowser says. "But our commitment is to find ways within existing market conditions or changing market conditions to make our products, including Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, as obtainable as we possibly can." The Switch 2 is $150 more expensive than the original Switch was at launch, so it's already a much more costly console, but hopefully we won't see any more increases any time soon. Elden Ring Nightreign Metacritic score sets it as the lowest-scored FromSoftware game in 7 years and ties a 25-year-old PS2 platformer nobody remembers, but that's before the multiplayer buff sets in

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. The Elden Ring: Nightreign metacritic score is in, and while it's the lowest-reviewed FromSoftware score in years, that's still a very high bar to clear. The Elden Ring: Nightreign Metacritic score currently sits at 78. That matches up exactly with its PS5 score, although the PC score sits a little higher at 81 - more PS5 reviews mean the average will skew slightly lower. Clearly, that's a pretty solid score, but it's not one that matches up particularly closely with FromSoftware's recent efforts. Elden Ring itself, for instance, boasts a 96. Shadow of the Erdtree sits a little lower, while Armored Core 6 is in the low-to-mid 80s, depending on platform. Sekiro sits around the high-80s/low-90s bracket, and every major Soulsborne game has a score of at least 85. By contrast, the Elden Ring: Nightreign Metacritic score of 78 might be a little disappointing, but it's worth remembering that it's still a pretty solid launch amid an almost generational run of amazing titles. A re-release and a VR exclusive aside, you've got to go back to 2013's Armored Core: Verdict Day to find a major FromSoft release that scored less than 80 on Metacritic. Elden Ring: Nightreign's Metacritic score has been matched by two other FromSoftware games. Not only the studio of dark fantasy and massive mechs, in 2000, it put out The Adventures of Cookie & Cream, a couch co-op spin on Crash Bandicoot-style platforming. In the same year, it netted the same score for Armored Core 2, which I'd argue has a more impressive legacy, but either way, Nightreign's in some interesting company. In our own Elden Ring: Nightreign review, Will said that it was an "uncharacteristically frantic" take on the Elden Ring experience, and that the Soulslike elements that have been cut have been replaced by "surprisingly competent roguelike components." The suggestion that "Nightreign is Elden Ring at arguably its most brutal" is a little worrying, but I'm certainly still keen to dive in. The Nightreign team has been hard at work on balance all week - so much so that it's already nerfed bleed builds.
