Borussia Dortmund identify Wolves forward Fabio Silva as ideal Serhou Guirassy back-up

Yahoo27-05-2025

As reported by BILD, Borussia Dortmund are interested in Wolves forward Fabio Silva this summer.
The Portuguese youth international is expected to depart the Premier League club following spells in the Netherlands, Belgium, Scotland, and, most recently, Spain with Las Palmas.

The 22-year-old striker scored 10 goals and assisted on three occasions in 24 appearances last season, but it wasn't enough for Las Palmas to avoid relegation from La Liga.
Silva's performances have attracted interested from various Spanish clubs and now also Dortmund.
BVB were too reliant on top striker Serhou Guirassy last season, as the 29-year-old scored more goals than anyone else in the rückrunde (second half of the season).
Dortmund see Silva as a potential back-up striker and additional competition for Maximilian Beier (22), who scored 8 goals in the Bundesliga last term.
According to TransferMarkt, Silva currently holds a transfer fee of around €25m.

It never quite worked out for Silva at Wolves, who joined at just 18 for €40m. However, the Portuguese forward now looks set to play Champions League football next season with the type of interest he's gathering.

Arsenal hold fresh Benjamin Sesko transfer talks but RB Leipzig holding firm on £70m price tag

Key target: Arsenal are pushing to sign a new striker this summer (Getty Images) Arsenal and RB Leipzig have held talks over a deal for Benjamin Sesko, with the German club hoping to secure a fee in the region of £70million. The Gunners have made signing a new striker a priority this summer as they look to strengthen their squad. Advertisement The club are long-term admirers of Sesko and tried to sign him a year ago, but he decided to sign a new contract with Leipzig. Arsenal have returned for the 22-year-old, though, and Standard Sport understands talks have taken place with Leipzig. The German club are willing to sanction a sale this summer, however they want a fee in the region of £70m. Sesko scored 13 goals in the Bundesliga last season, while he also chipped in with five assists, too. Leipzig finished seventh in the Bundesliga - missing out on European football for next season - which has boosted Arsenal's chances of landing Sesko. Advertisement The Gunners have looked at other striker targets, including Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins and Sporting star Viktor Gyokeres. Arsenal tried to sign Watkins during the January transfer window, but their bid of £40m was rejected. Arsenal finished last season with 69 Premier League goals, which was 17 less than champions Liverpool. Injuries played their part in that and the Gunners were without Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard for extended parts of the season. Mikel Arteta, however, has also stressed the need for Arsenal to add more firepower to their squad this summer. 'Well, what we have, what is clear as well with the amount of injuries that we had in the front line, that we need a goal threat and we need the firepower out there,' he said in May. Advertisement 'Understanding that the context can change tomorrow, you know, and we cannot rely just on the numbers that we had before. 'And we have to add goals, we have to add creativity, we have to add numbers and that will be in different positions.'

Swindon add Premier League defender to transfer wishlist

Swindon Town have set their sights on signing an up-and-coming Premier League defender ahead of the 2025/26 season. The club have reportedly identified 20-year-old Wolves centre-back Filozofe Mabete to fix their issues at the back, according to The Moonraker. Advertisement The interest in Mabete comes after several notable departures from the club, including Miguel Freckleton and Grant Hall, who have left manager Ian Holloway with several holes to fill in his defensive line. Mabete has spent nine years at top-flight side Wolves – progressing through the club's academy ranks – and has previously been called up to an England under-17 training camp. Recommended reading He captained Wolves' under-18s and made 52 appearances for the junior outfit before moving up to the club's under-21s side, where he played 38 times. The London-born defender featured regularly in the youth development league Premier League 2 in the 2024/25 season, scoring one goal in 14 appearances. Advertisement Despite signing his first professional contract at Molineux in June 2023, Wolves confirmed on Friday that Mabete would be among eight development players to be leaving the side upon the expiry of his contract. This would make him available for Swindon to snap up on a free transfer, provided he and the club are able to come to an agreement to bring the right-footed defender to the Nigel Eady County Ground. Mabete could also bring some versatility to Holloway's squad, having originally been a central midfielder before moving back into defence as he advanced through Wolves' pathway.

Football transfer rumours: Gittens to Chelsea before first deadline closes?

The summer's first transfer window will close on Tuesday night at 7pm UK time ahead of the Fifa Club World Cup so watch out for some last-minute jobs to fill up squads for Gianni Infantino's folly. Will Manchester City get Rayan Cherki signed in time? Chelsea are after a keeper in Milan's Mike Maignan and want to add Jamie Gittens of Borussia Dortmund to their winger collection. Both deals may go to the wire. When Bournemouth were flying high in mid-winter there was a fun game to play. Less fun if you were a Cherries fan, of course, but the game was to fit their unearthed gems with the clubs they would end up at. Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid was unexpected but then again Illia Zabarnyi to PSG, actual European champions, may well trump that. The club are prepared to sell, at the right price, but have demanded a £59m fee for the Ukrainian. Advertisement Related: Men's transfer window summer 2025: all deals from Europe's top five leagues Antoine Semenyo would have been more predictable, as he is wanted by Europa League duffers Tottenham and Manchester United. That may depend on either club's success in landing Bryan Mbeumo. One of the clubs interested in Mbeumo were Newcastle, and he's said to have turned them down, as have a number of other players. No PSR troubles this time, so a panic setting in? The Toon in for West Ham maverick Mohammed Kudus? Sounds possible, though Chelsea also fancy him. The boy of this summer – though he's 30 in September – is Jack Grealish, unwanted by Manchester City, allowed to leave, and looking for a new challenge while trying to rediscover the old magic. Bayer Leverkusen is an interesting link, though how they might afford the wages of a player with two seasons remaining on his Etihad deal is another question. Advertisement Erik ten Hag must have liked what he saw in those Manchester derbies, and he would be coaching Jack in Germany's industrial heartlands – Jack, being a Brummie, knows all about industrial heartlands. Well, maybe a bit. Anyway, should he blow out Bayer, there's Everton, Newcastle and Tottenham in England. There's Saudi interest, too, and also Milan, Napoli, Borussia Dortmund and Inter. An emotional return to Aston Villa? Sadly, the numbers don't add up. On the continent, Bayern Munich want a winger, and are not messing about in targeting PSG's Bradley Barcola and Athletic Club's Nico Williams. Will they be done in time for Bayern to play at the Club World Cup? Unlikely.
