Bursting on to the scene in 2022, Jackson Dean quickly drew likeness to legendary artists Chris Stapleton and Eric Church, with platinum breakout single 'Don't Come Lookin'' putting the newcomer on the country music map. With the track earning multiple weeks at #1 on the Australian Country Radio Chart, it also became the fastest debut to reach No.1 in the US in 2022. This achievement awarded Jackson the accolade of the youngest solo male Country artist to reach the top of the charts on debut.
Dean made his Australian debut in 2023 with a series of intimate headline shows before returning in 2024 to an unforgettable performance at CMC Rocks QLD, followed by performing as special guest on Lainey Wilson's Australian tour. With his strong gravel-toned vocals, wayward spirit, intentional songwriting and overall mystique, the fast-rising singer/songwriteris quickly earning a reputation for his impressive live show and thought-provoking, lyric-driven music.
As he enters an impressive and bold new chapter, Dean will return in 2025 to showcase his most recent album On The Back Of My Dreams featuring fan favourite 'Train' and live show stand out 'Heavens To Betsy' and brand new track 'Be Your Man' (out now via Big Machine Records) for Australian fans.
Cementing himself as one of Nashville's most intriguing artists, Entertainment Focus hailed his latest album a 'thought-provoking exploration of existence, filled with sonic surprises and layered meanings'. Constructing big transcendental, swelling songs that demand an equally bone-shaking vocal performance, Dean deliversan aspirational and captivating vocal performance that is striking, distinctive and stimulating, with both swagger and intellect.
A vocalist who truly thrives on stage, the Maryland native has leaned hard into touring - wowing audiences and building a passionate fanbase that connects on a deeper level. As well as embarking on his biggest headline tour to date, bringing the On The Back Of My Dreams World Tour across the US, Europe and now Australia and New Zealand, Jackson has also joined tours and bills with superstar acts like Toby Keith, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Lainey Wilson, Eric Church, Luke Bryan, Brantley Gilbert, Kane Brown, Brooks & Dunn, Lee Brice, HARDY and Brothers Osborne.

Screamfeeder Announce 25th Anniversary Rocks On The Soul Vinyl Reissue And Tour
It's kind of hard to believe, but another milestone has ticked over for Brisbane indie legends Screamfeeder – it's now 25 years since their landmark album Rocks On The Soul was released. And to celebrate, they're releasing it on double vinyl, and of course, going on tour. Because, well, that's what they do. Rocks On The Soul is available to pre-order on double coke-bottle-green transparent vinyl, with all 18 songs from both discs of the original cd release. Mastered specifically for vinyl - warm and with more dynamics. Officially out in October (as was the original), you can pre-order at a discount price from today. The bonus pack includes two posters, a new T-shirt, five original flyers, and more. It's been a long and strange journey from those humble beginnings in Brisbane in 1991, to the revered status that Screamfeeder now enjoys. The scrappy little three-piece has become an iconic symbol of the time in which Australian music came of age, became the soundtrack of a generation, and came to symbolise an unprecedented golden era. Recently, Screamfeeder has been celebrated with a full-length documentary, a book about their seminal 1996 album Kitten Licks, and an ongoing reassessment of their massive significance to the Brisbane music scene. None of which has changed anything for the band, who continue to chart their own course, navigating by some invisible stars. Rocks On The Soul represents both a high-water mark and an outlier for Screamfeeder – a sonic departure from their previous work, a resounding affirmation of the band's independent ethos, and a deliberate choice to create new sounds and songs to keep things interesting for themselves and their fans. The album arrived after a long four-year break, the regrettable result of a contractual wrangle with their US record label. With their freedom newly reinstated came an experimental sound (courtesy of producers The Pound System) and indelible songs like ' Above The Dove ' and ' Stopless ', songs which defined Screamfeeder for a new generation of fans. ' Whether you want the depravity of the post-punk noise, the sweetness of a soothing pop song, or something in between, on Rocks on the Soul they deliver. I'll give this an A-." In Music We Trust As Tim Steward notes, ' Hearing the record now, it's aged far less than some of our others from the '90s. There aren't too many cringe moments, and almost all the songs make us go 'We should play this one again!'. We're really happy to have it out in a double vinyl format, giving all the songs space to breathe, and including the bonus CD that came with the original release, with the Hi Cs and Triple Hook singles and B-sides included.' '… At the time, it sounded like it was too good for a band from Brisbane, which is never true — of anywhere — but that's how Screamfeeder made me feel. I was excited by it. It was probably the last time I felt truly shocked by what a Brisbane band was capable of. Now everyone knows.' Ian Rogers You can see them play, just like they have for three decades, later in the year…

Stranger Things' Dacre Montgomery stars in ghost film shot in New Zealand
The device is unusual in film, but common in theatre. Montgomery said he and Krieps 'perceived the movie to be less of a supernatural tale, and more of a film where two people create their antagoniser in themselves to deal with their grief and trauma'. The Australian actor is best known for playing villain Billy Hargrove in the second and third seasons of Netflix's Stranger Things. He recently confirmed to Screen Rant he will not be appearing in the show's highly anticipated fifth season. Montgomery said the film was an exciting challenge after his years on the hit show. Dacre Montgomery played the sibling of Sadie Sink's character on Stranger Things. Photos / Netflix 'For me, the brilliant thing about this movie is it's so much closer to myself than the character I play in Stranger Things.' Montgomery said playing Jack has helped him figure out who he is. Half of his family is from New Zealand, so production provided opportunities to reconnect. 'I'd never played a character with my accent before, so even that in of itself was quite revealing and made me feel quite vulnerable.' The flick was filmed in the Canterbury region, an area with sentimental value to van Grinsven. The director's parents were ABBA impersonators, which he said informed his 'nursery rhyme' approach to the Kiwi landscape. 'We went up and down New Zealand in the back of a tour van growing up, so for me, my kind of memories of the South Island are very childlike, wide-eyed, sort of fantastical memories.' Went Up The Hill is playing at cinemas across New Zealand for the Whānau Mārama: New Zealand International Film Festival. Both van Grinsven and Montgomery will be attending a screening at Lumière Cinemas tonight, with a chance to question the actor and director after the showing.

Gordi Shares Awaited Third Album 'Like Plasticine'
[8 August 2025] Australian indie-pop singer, songwriter and producer Gordi, today releases her exquisite third album, Like Plasticine. She also shares news of a special Sydney Opera House show in October to commemorate the album launch. Many moons in the making, the arrival of Like Plasticine comes off the back of a whirlwind few weeks for Gordi, including tour dates with Foster The People in Europe, shows in the US for Lollapalooza, Hinterland Festival and a number of momentous appearances on US TV including The Kelly Clarkson Show, CBS Mornings as well as a KEXP session. Now back for a short stay in Australia ahead of further touring overseas, Gordi shares her excitement for the release: 'Today, as I finally set this album free, I am reminded of its beginning. Deep in the middle of the pandemic I began writing the songs that would make up 'Like Plasticine', wondering what the purpose of music was at all. I tried to stop thinking and just feel. When I look back on that time now, sitting in Phoenix Central Park surrounded by things I could make music with, I see 'Like Plasticine' arriving as though it was a fire hydrant erupting. Everything we try to contain comes out one way or another. So when you listen to this record, un-contain yourself, stop thinking, and just feel.' - Gordi Advertisement - scroll to continue reading Alongside Like Plasticine 's release, Gordi shares a video for key track 'Your Consolation Prize'. Co-produced by Brad Cook (Snail Mail, Jensen McRae, Bon Iver), the song recalls the best of synth-pop savants The Postal Service – and, over drum machines backed by a soft choir of voices, represents Gordi at her full grapples with the reality that, for all the acceptance and closeness she has found since coming out, there will always be young queer people whose lives will have qualifications or asterisks hanging over them because they don't fit neatly into the mould. Like Plasticine chronicles the last few transformative years of Gordi's life. From coming out and having to adjust the vision of her future, to working as a doctor on the frontline during the pandemic, Gordi explores the beauty, heartbreak and finite nature of human experience across 12 new by Gordi, the album includes the cuts 'Peripheral Lover', 'Cutting Room Floor', 'PVC Divide' (feat. Anaïs Mitchell) and 'Lunch At Dune'. Songs from Like Plasticine has solidified Gordi's global footprint, drawing acclaim from The Guardian, NPR, Stereogum, Rolling Stone, Dork and more, with radio love from BBC Radio 1, BBC 6, Radio X, and major AAA stations in the US including KEXP, KCRW, and Sirius XM. In addition, two billboards in Times Square have seen Gordi front and centre representing Spotify's GLOW and Amazon Music's PROUD. In celebration of the album's release this weekend, Gordi will perform under a full moon at MCA's Full Bloom event in Sydney – the stunning Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge her backdrop. She will also appear at Hum Music in Newtown on Saturday afternoon, playing a handful of songs from the album and signing records, and at Oh! Jean Records in Melbourne on Tuesday evening. Next month, Gordi will return to the UK and Europe for the Bryce Dessner curated Sounds From A Safe Harbour Festival and Residency in Cork, Ireland, along with Reeperbahn Festival in Germany and a run of headline dates. She will then make her way back to Australia for a special intimate show at the Sydney Opera House (Playhouse Theatre) in October, with further dates to be announced soon. That will be followed by tour dates with revered British singer-songwriterDavid Gray in November. MORE ABOUT GORDI… An award-winning and beloved Aussie export with tens of millions of streams to her name, Gordi has an impressive history, including two full-length album releases and collaborations with Troye Sivan, Bon Iver, Ben Bohmer, Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and more.
