Historic Country Club Now Part of Arcis Golf's Growing and Irreplaceable Portfolio
DALLAS, May 12, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Arcis Golf, the second largest owner and operator of golf facilities in the United States, has acquired The Woodlands Country Club near Houston, Texas. The transaction closed today, and Arcis Golf assumes operations on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.
The Woodlands Country Club, a 99-hole private club, offers four clubhouses at distinct locations and five golf courses throughout The Woodlands Community. In addition to its championship golf courses, this renowned club offers world-class amenities, including racquet sports, fitness and pool facilities, lively social events, premier dining, and private event venues, all of which are aligned with Arcis Golf's modern, lifestyle-driven experience. The club brings together the creativity of four icons of the game – Bruce Devlin, Robert Von Hagge, Gary Player, and Arnold Palmer – who designed three of its courses – Tournament (Devlin and Hagge), Player (Player), and Palmer (Palmer). The Tournament Course is the current host of the PGA Tour Champions Insperity Invitational and boasts a deep history of PGA Tour competition.

Semifinals set for South Dakota state softball
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — 12 quarterfinal games were played in the three classes of the state softball tournament Thursday, sending the winners onto the semifinals. CLASS 'AA' Class 'AA' went chalk as all the top seeds advanced to the semifinals. Lincoln will cross paths with Jefferson in the first semi, followed by Harrisburg vs. Washington. CLASS 'A' Just like class 'AA', the class 'A' quarterfinals saw all the top seeds claim wins and move on to the semifinals. West Central will have a rematch with Dell Rapids, while it's a battle between Tri-Valley and Dakota Valley in the second semifinal. CLASS 'B' Class 'B' was the only class that saw an upset and there was two of them. Top-seed Deuel and four-seed Alcester-Hudson advanced to the semis, but the next two games saw upsets. Mobridge-Pollock is the seven-seed and they earned a 17-10 win over Bon Homme, while six-seed Gayville-Volin knocked of Castlewood 12-5. The semifinals are set for Friday afternoon. PGA Tour rookie goes low to share Canadian Open lead
PGA Tour rookie Cristobal Del Solar and Denmark's Thorbjorn Olesen each posted a nine-under-par 61 to share the first-round lead at the Canadian Open. Olesen and Chilean Del Solar took full advantage on Thursday of TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley in the venue's PGA Tour debut. They own a one-shot lead over Cameron Champ. Jake Knapp is alone in fourth at seven-under 63. Shane Lowry of Ireland went out in five-under 30 on his way to a round of 64. He is tied for fifth with Denmark's Rasmus Hojgaard and Trey Mullinax. The low Canadian for the day was Taylor Pendrith (65), who set the clubhouse lead in the morning wave before several players passed him by. Defending champion Robert MacIntyre of Scotland is among the several golfers knotted with him in eighth place at five under. Harrison Endycott (67) is the highest-placed Australian, while Aaron Baddeley made a 70. The only other Australian in the field, Karl Vilips, shot a three-over 73 and like Baddeley (tied 96th) will struggle to make the cut. Del Solar birdied 10 of his first 16 holes to pass Olesen for the outright lead and threaten a score of 59. However, he failed to get up and down from the bunker at the par-4 17th hole and took his only bogey of the day. He missed a 15-foot putt for birdie for the outright lead at No.18. Del Solar's claim to fame is a round of 57 he shot on the Korn Ferry Tour in February last year. It was the lowest round ever recorded in a PGA Tour-sanctioned tournament. Olesen, meanwhile, has eight wins on the DP World Tour but is seeking his first title in the United States. Two-time Canadian champion Rory McIlroy is in danger of missing the cut after shooting a one-over 71, which he ended with consecutive bogeys at Nos.8 and 9. The Northern Irishman is playing for the first time since a T47 finish at the PGA Championship.
