Iconic 70s rock band announces lineup change as frontman quits and replacement is revealed

The Sun21-05-2025

ICONIC 70s rock band Foreigner have announced a lineup change, with their frontman quitting for a replacement.
Kelly Hansen, 64, who has lead Foreigner for the past 20 years, made the announcement during an appearance on The Voice U.S.

The six-piece had performed a medley of Feels Like the First Time, I Want to Know What Love Is and Juke Box Hero during last night's live finale.
And, at the end or their set, Kelly told fans guitarist Luis Maldonado will be taking over from him.
The singer said: 'Being the voice of Foreigner has been one of the greatest honours of my life.
'But it's time to pass the mic. Luis has the voice, the energy, and the soul to carry these songs into the future. I couldn't be prouder to hand this off to him.'
Luis, already a familiar face in the band's lineup, shared his excitement about the transition.
He gushed: 'This music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I'm ready to honour Foreigner's legacy and bring my heart to every performance.'
The group is currently in the midst of their Historic Farewell Tour, which will wrap up with multiple singers sharing frontman duties.
In a move that has kept fans guessing, the band revealed earlier this year that Kelly would not be joining them for their Canadian dates in October, followed by the news that he would also skip shows in Mexico and South America this April.
Adding to the uncertainty, Foreigner announced in March that Canadian stage actor and Broadway performer Geordie Brown would be fronting those Canadian shows.
It remains unclear whether Louis or Geordie will now take the lead for those dates.

Foreigner founder Mick Jones, who no longer performs live but remains involved with the band, reflected on the decision in a statement.
He said: 'In 1976, my goal was to assemble the finest group of musicians I could find. Results have shown that it worked!
"About thirty years later, Jason Bonham encouraged me to do it all over again and create a brand-new Foreigner, and the magic was still there.
"I was especially fortunate in the choice of lead singer.
"Kelly Hansen is one of the best front men in our business and over the last twenty years he has breathed new life into our songs.
"His boundless energy and flawless talent has helped us climb the mountain and set up the opportunity for Foreigner vocalist and guitarist, Luis Maldonado, to bring us home.
"I wish Kelly great happiness in his next endeavors after our summer tour, and I look forward to welcoming Luis to his new position.
"Luis was my choice as a guitarist and he has already shown us what he can do on lead vocals by fronting the band in South America to incredible reviews.
"He will soon lead the charge that will carry us forward to new heights."
Luis' debut as lead vocalist is already underway.
This month, Foreigner released two reworked versions of their classic hits - 1981's Urgent and I Want To Know What Love Is from 1984 - both sung in Spanish and featuring Luis on vocals.

Katie Price reveals her only ex boyfriend that family still speak to – 13 years after their bitter split

OVER the years Katie Price's love life has been the hot topic of conversation. During her time in the spotlight, she has acquired a few ex-boyfriends (and husbands), but it's now been revealed the only former flame that her family still speak to. 7 7 7 7 Katie, now 47, and hunky Leandro Penna, now 39, enjoyed a steamy romance in 2011, when the hunk was 26, and she was 34. The former couple embarked on a passionate relationship after meeting at one of Elton John 's parties. Despite getting engaged during their whirlwind romance, things ended badly with Leo saying Katie drove him "insane". However, the hunky Argentinian clearly managed to win over her beloved family, and he remains on good terms with them still. Speaking on this week's episode of The Katie Price Show podcast, her sister Sophie said: "Do you know what, I like Leo. "I do like Leo and (my husband) Harry still talks to Leo now and then on Facebook. And he sort of says, 'How are you?'" WHIRLWIND ROMANCE Katie's whirlwind relationship with Leo came two years after her split from Peter Andre. Her bitter divorce from cagefighter Alex Reid was being finalised at the time she got together with Leo too. The pair famously had a language barrier, but that didn't stop their passionate hook-ups. They quickly got engaged, with Katie telling The Sun at the time: "Husband number three? Will it last? I'm not surprised by people's reactions." Katie Price's ex fiance Leandro Penna has quit fame to sell avocados from a van in Chile "If life isn't for livin' and lovin', then what is it for? And anyway - three is a lucky number,"she added. They eventually split at the end of 2012, after a string of heated arguments, and didn't rekindle their romance after that. The break-up turned bitter, with Leandro claiming he dumped Katie because she was driving him "insane". Speaking to Caras magazine in Argentina, he said at the time of their break-up: "I left her simply because she is crazy. Katie's brain is not wired right, or the wires don't connect properly. 7 7 "I don't know what's wrong with her. I was thinking it over recently and one day I packed my bags and left. "There was nothing else I could do. She was driving me insane." Leo added: "That's it, there's no going back "Katie is totally crazy. What started beautifully in February last year has now come to an end." Leandro's words were in stark contrast to Katie's response to the split, where she "wished him well". Katie Price's love life We take a look back at the highs and lows of Katie Price's relationship history. 1996-1998: Katie got engaged to Gladiators star Warren Furman - aka Ace - with a £3,000 ring. But their relationship didn't make it as far as 'I do'. 1998-2000: Katie described Dane Bowers as 'the love of her life' but she broke up with the singer when he allegedly cheated on her. 2001: Footballer Dwight Yorke is the father of Katie's eldest child Harvey. He has had very little to do with Harvey throughout his life. 2002: Rebounding from Dwight, Katie famously had one night of passion with Pop Idol star Gareth Gates, allegedly taking his virginity. 2002-2004: Katie was dating Scott Sullivan when she entered the jungle for I'm A Me Out Of Here!. He threatened to "punch Peter's lights out" when chemistry blossomed between her and Peter Andre. 2004-2009: The jungle romance resulted in Katie marrying Aussie pop star Peter. They had two kids, Junior and Princess, before their bitter split in 2009. 2010-2011: Fresh from her break-up with Peter, Katie enjoyed a whirlwind relationship and marriage with cage fighter Alex Reid. They split 20 months after their Las Vegas wedding. 2011: Katie briefly dated model Danny Cipriani... but it ended as quickly as it begun. 2011-2012: They didn't speak the same language, but Katie got engaged to Argentinian model Leandro Penna in 2011. He later fled home to South America. 2012-2018: Wedding bells rang once more after Katie met Kieran Hayler in 2013. They had two kids together, Jett and Bunny, before their break-up and divorce. 2018-2019: Katie moved on quickly with Kris Boyson. They had an on-off romance for one year and even got engaged. They split for good in 2019. 2019: Katie was linked to Charles Drury during her on-off relationship with Kris. Charles, who also dated Lauren Goodger, has always denied being in "official relationship" with her. 2020-2023: Car salesman Carl Woods took a shining to Katie in 2020. Their relationship was up and down for three years. They broke up for a final time last year. 2024-present: After weeks of rumours, Katie confirmed her relationship with Married At First Sight star JJ Slater in February this year. In a statement, she said: "Leo and I have had a lovely fun time for a couple of years, we will always feel deep affection for each other, but sometimes relationships just run their course. "Pressures of work on different continents, natural demands of family ties, and careers, have meant we have spent a huge amount of time apart even when we were in the same country. This meant it was difficult for the relationship to move forward. "Accordingly we've mutually decided to call it a day, but we really wish each other nothing but the very best and will remain best of friends, whoever he eventually settles down with will be a very lucky girl." 7 STEPPING OUT OF THE SPOTLIGHT The Argentinian hunk has since turned his back on showbiz. Leo now operates a thriving avocado business called Paltas Royale. His company is responsible for importing fruit to Chile and exporting fruit from Peru to all around the word. Leo uses Instagram to promote his business, and can often be seen posing with avocados - I stark contrast to his photo ops with Katie. He previously told the Daily Star: "This work is hard and sacrificed, especially when you have to meet clients." He added: "I get home late, I go to bed almost at one in the morning."

YouTuber does 16,000 push-ups - viewers go wild for 'crazy' effect on his body when shares the results

A fitness YouTuber who has undertaken the mammoth challenge of performing more than 66,000 press ups over the course of the year has shared the astonishing effect on his body. Cedrik Flipo, from Montreal in Canada, started the challenge on January 31, 2022, doing one single push up on the first day, then adding one every day for a year. In a video he posted in 2022, documenting his progress halfway through the challenge, at around the 16,000 mark, he revealed before and after selfies—which have left viewers stunned. 'Say what you want about this thinking, he's innovative, and it's some challenge. Well done lad, I'm quite impressed,' said one viewer, while another described his new build as 'crazy'. The image in the clip, that's had more than a million views, show Mr Flipo prior to the challenge looking slight and with little muscle tone, while images taken after show a beefed-up transformation. He said in the video: 'I haven't skipped a single day doing these push-ups, except for one day that I hurt my shoulders so I couldn't do the push ups all the way through. 'This was my physique before I started doing push-ups and not even halfway through this challenge, you could already see I gained a lot of upper body mass. 'So if you're looking to get bigger and gain muscle, I would definitely recommend this challenge as it is not very long and it is very efficient,' he said. One viewer, who was also doing the challenge, commented: 'Bro that's sick—I have been going hard since January 1 too. 'I'm 33 years-old and in the best shape of my life since I started working out. I started last winter, but started being really focused this year.' He's not the only one to see dramatic results from an extreme push up challenge—early this year musician Jackson Hunter did 500 in one hour, reported MailOnline. After completing the challenge he showed viewers the muscles in his arms and chest had become far bigger in size. While doing 500 push ups is on the excessive side, experts say the ability to complete the exercise is a great indicator of general health. This is because it uses most major muscle groups throughout the entire body, including legs, abs, shoulders, back and arms. The move involves beginning face down on the ground, with your toes tucked, elbows bent and hands about shoulder height. Keeping your body straight and parallel to the floor, push yourself up until your arms are straight and you are on your hands and toes. His body before he did the 500 push-up challenge (left) and his bigger muscles after the challenge Then, lower yourself back down to complete one full push up and continue until you need to stop and rest. According to a paper published by University of Harvard researchers, doing ten push-ups a day can dramatically reduce the risk of developing heart disease. The latest video resurfaced as the start of this month, as the UK's biggest cancer charity, Cancer Research UK, launched its 100 push-ups a day challenge. The feat involves completing push-ups each day for the entire month of June to raise money for the charity, and help fund breakthroughs. Volunteers have taken to social media to share clips of themselves participating in the mammoth challenge, including Stace Payne, who said he wants to achieve the fitness goal in aid of family members currently battling cancer. 'Whether it's a personal fight or one you've witnessed through loved ones, cancer touches far too many lives,' he said.
