School shuts after hundreds evacuated in blaze
A school will be closed for the rest of the week after a fire that resulted in about 240 pupils, staff, and other workers being evacuated.
South Wales Fire Service sent five fire engines to St Athan Primary School, in the Vale of Glamorgan, at about 11:50 GMT on Wednesday.
It said it had managed to contain the flames in a block of classrooms and a computer suite.
There were no injuries.
The fire service said work was now underway to establish the cause of the fire, which started in the roof.
Vale of Glamorgan Council chief executive, Rob Thomas, was grateful "a serious situation did not become tragic".
The authority and fire service will now assess the damage.
The council said an announcement about teaching arrangements would be made as soon as possible.

MADRID (Reuters) -Spain's grid operator, Redeia, said on Tuesday it was gradually restoring power on La Palma after the Canary island suffered a blackout. The power cut on the archipelago's third-smallest island was caused by the failure of a generator at the Los Guinchos power plant in eastern La Palma, the regional government said in a statement, citing utility company Endesa. The outage follows a mass blackout across most of Spain and Portugal on April 28 that caused gridlock across cities and left thousands of people stranded on trains or stuck in elevators. The Canary blackout occurred at 5:30 p.m. (1630 GMT), RTVE reported. Redeia said it had reestablished 6.2 megawatts on La Palma by 7:10 p.m.

Eighteen crew members initially abandoned the ship into life rafts. Defence officials confirmed that the Indian Navy and Coast Guard coordinated to rescue all 18 from the sea. Discovery of Wartime Bombs Prompts Large-Scale Evacuation in Cologne, Germany
BERLIN—Thousands of people were evacuated from central Cologne in western Germany on Wednesday following the discovery of three wartime bombs, in what the city authority called the largest such operation since the end of World War Two.
