BEST BET
GEE AND TEE (Race 2 No.7): Ran on well behind a promising type in an encouraging debut at Cranbourne. She'll be better for it and should be hard to hold out from barrier three.
■ ■ ■ ■ ■
NEXT BEST
UNSNOOZUAL (Race 3 No.3): The Matt Laurie-trained first-starter has performed well at jumpouts leading up to his debut and has found a race that gave him a top chance to score on debut.
SEA POEM (Race 8 No.4): The Lindsay Park-trained mare closed solidly at Bairnsdale at her first run for six weeks last time. She'll be much fitter for that and blinkers go on for this.
■ ■ ■ ■ ■
VALUE BET
A PINCH OF LUCK (Race 7 No.3): Has won a couple first-up and has saluted over the 1200m course at Bairnsdale. She could show up fresh on Tuesday.
■ ■ ■ ■ ■
LAY OF THE DAY
KAAZI (Race 1 No. 3): Zaaki's little brother trailed the field throughout in town on debut but has come up favourite for the first at Bairnsdale. He'll need more ground than the 1600m of Tuesday's race.

THE JOCKEY – THOMAS STOCKDALE
The young hoop heads to Bairnsdale for five rides on Tuesday. GEE AND TEE (Race 2 No.7 – $4), RANG A ROUND UP (Race 4 No.8 – $3.20), INTRIGUING STATE (Race 6 No.6 – $6), DEMIQUAVER (Race 8 No.6 – $5), IOANE (Race 10 No.1 – $5.50).

NRL news, updates: Harry Grant blindsided by Danika Mason as controversial act in Penrith Panthers vs. Melbourne Storm comes under fire

Don't miss out on the headlines from NRL. Followed categories will be added to My News. Melbourne Storm captain Harry Grant has found himself on the end of a grilling from Channel 9's Danika Mason following a controversial moment on Thursday night. Cleary slotted a field goal with three minutes remaining in regulation time, only for it to be ruled out by referee Ashley Klein due to an illegal blocker. The field goal would have given the Panthers a 19-18 lead, but Moses Leota was penalised for running interference, stepping into Grant's path, which blocked him from putting pressure on Cleary. But after Grant scored the winning try in golden point to give the Storm the crucial win, Cleary claimed post-match that the hooker was clearly 'playing for' the game-changing penalty. Mason also suggested as much in her chat with Cleary after full-time, before doubling down that the Storm hooker had taken a dive on Friday morning. 'He was playing up to it, he's done it before, that was a dive,' Mason said on Channel 9's Today Show. All the while, Grant was waiting on the line to face up to the backlash, as host Karl Stefanovic, who knew Grant was listening, leapt to the defence of the Melbourne captain. 'That wasn't a dive,' Stefanovic interjected. You can watch the awkward moment in the player above. Danika Mason mocked Harry Grant on Friday, claiming he took a dive. But Mason doubled down: 'Harry, you've got the best acting skills, we might have a Logie around the office for you'. It led to Channel 9 host Sarah Abo jumping to Grant's defence. 'Stop it, Danika, that is so disrespectful. Leave him alone, he won the game for the Storm … Harry, well done.' While Stefanovic added: 'I think it's disgusting that Danika would call to question your character'. Ashley Klein ruled the Panthers had an illegal blocker, ruling out Nathan Cleary's field goal. Image: Getty/Kayo When asked about the incident, Grant defended his actions, simply saying: 'They are the rules'. It comes after Grant was grilled post-game about his actions after Cleary accused him of 'playing for' the contact. AFL: Carlton Blues blow Collingwood away in season opening AFLW statement

Don't miss out on the headlines from AFL. Followed categories will be added to My News. Carlton kicked off the AFLW's 10th season on a perfect note with a comfortable 24-point win over arch rivals Collingwood. The Pies started the night strongly with the first two goals, but the Blues would kick six of the next seven to cruise to victory at Ikon Park, 6.9 (45) to 3.3 (21). Mimi Hill starred for the Blues in the midfield with a game-high 32 disposals and Erone Fitzpatrick bagged two goals as Carlton opened its account with a win in a campaign captain Kerryn Peterson will miss due to the birth of her first child. 'They'll be really pleased with the electricity of their footy,' Herald Sun reporter Lauren Wood said on Fox Footy. 'Particularly without their captain. (Photo by James Wiltshire/AFL Photos via Getty Images) 'Naturally when you're without your skipper, you would have that sense of unknown. But led by Mimi Hill, they were pretty seamless without her.' Former AFLW Carlton coach Daniel Harford said Hill was 'allowed to do whatever the hell she liked' and 'took full advantage of that'. 'Really set the game alight, she was enormous,' he said on Fox Footy. Harford also praised Carlton's 'slick' ball movement, but noted Collingwood 'had no answers' in a disappointing start to the season for last year's wooden spooners, who have dropped 13 of their last 14 games. 'There's a few questions about the Magpies on the back of that and what they're trying to do and look like,' he added. 'They didn't show too much tonight, sadly for Magpies fans.' Collingwood fans had one moment in particular to cheer about, with No. 1 pick Ash Centra kicking her first goal with her first disposal in the second term. But further souring the loss for the Pies was Irish rookie Kellyann Hogan's night ending prematurely due to a shoulder issue.
