Hull name Sergej Jakirovic as new boss after reaching agreement with Kayserispor
Jakirovic had only been in Turkey since January, having previously led Dinamo Zagreb to qualification for the Champions League, and succeeds Ruben Selles, who was dismissed last month after Hull narrowly avoided relegation from the Championship.

'We believe in the football that he will bring to the MKM Stadium for us and, importantly, he has proven himself to be a winner throughout his career.

Jakirovic's backroom team of Marko Salatovic, Marin Ivancic and Andjelo Roguljic join him in moving from Kayserispor, while first-team coach Andy Dawson and goalkeeping coach Erbil Bozkurt remain on the staff.
A former midfielder and Bosnia international, Jakirovic began his managerial career with Sesvete in the Croatian second tier before moving on to Gorica, Maribor, Zrinjski Mostar and Rijeka.
Hull finished the season in 21st place in the Championship, staying up at the expense of Luton on goal difference.

Premier League ace to snub 'dream' Rangers transfer in favour of £8million deal
Rangers have reportedly missed out on signing Manchester City youngster Callum Doyle, with the defender reportedly set to make an £8million move to an EFL Championship side Rangers look set to be snubbed by a young Manchester City star who once described the idea of playing in the Old Firm derby as a "dream". The Gers have reportedly been involved in a three-way tussle for 21-year-old centre-back Callum Doyle alongside EFL Championship sides Wrexham and Sheffield United. The England under-21 international came up through City's youth system but has managed just two first-team outings for the club. However, Doyle has excelled during loan spells, helping Sunderland secure promotion from League One in 2022 and guiding Coventry to the Championship play-off final during the following campaign. He subsequently moved to Leicester, where he once again played a role in achieving automatic promotion, this time to the Premier League, before spending last season with Norwich. Doyle confirmed earlier this summer that he was prepared to leave City permanently. According to The Athletic, Rangers showed interest but now look set to be beaten by Wrexham, who are close to completing a deal worth up to £8million. If the report is accurate, it would be the second time the Gers have lost out to the Hollywood-owned club during the current transfer window. Leicester's Conor Coady was expected to arrive at Ibrox earlier this summer, but he opted to move to Wrexham instead after they forked out £2m for his services. Doyle's decision to opt for the Welsh side could come as a shock, given his previous admission about his boyhood ambition of facing Celtic. Speaking last year, as City geared up to take on Brendan Rodgers' team in a pre-season clash, he said: "[I'm] probably [most looking forward to] Celtic. I've always dreamed since I was a little kid to play against Celtic. Since I was watching the derbies between Celtic and Rangers, I feel like it'll be a good game, a good test and a good battle." Doyle played in the second half of the match in the US, fulfilling a lifelong dream. Given his affection for the Old Firm derby, Rangers would have seemed an ideal fit. However, it's been suggested that location is crucial for the young player, who resides in Manchester. Wrexham have already smashed their transfer record three times this summer after clinching promotion to the Championship in April. The club has achieved three back-to-back promotions under the stewardship of actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Nathan Broadhead currently holds the title of Wrexham's priciest player after they splashed out a fee which could escalate up to £10m for the Ipswich winger last week. The signing of Doyle would take Wrexham's total expenditure in the current transfer window to an estimated £30m. Meanwhile, Rangers boss Russell Martin has dismissed wild rumours that Nico Raskin has asked to leave the club. Martin confessed last week that the Belgian midfielder had been unsettled by summer speculation over his future. However, that led to unsupported claims online that the 24-year-old had lodged a formal transfer request. The Ibrox boss has now moved to ease supporters' worries after clarifying that Ruskin's attention is firmly on facing Club Brugge in the Champions League Martin said: "No, I've not heard anything (about him asking to leave). Not at all. He's been brilliant. I'm pretty sure Kevin (Thelwell, sporting director) and Patrick (Stewart, chief executive) would have told me if we'd heard that sooner."

Rodgers won't comment on Vardy link and stresses need for 'constant improvement'
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers refused to comment on reports linking his former Leicester striker Jamie Vardy with a move to Glasgow but said that signings were needed to sustain or improve on the team's European form. The Premiership champions had a season to remember in the new-look Champions League last time out, progressing from the League Phase and only narrowly losing to German giants Bayern Munich in the first knockout stage. Now, Rodgers is preparing his team for Wednesday's play-off first leg against Kariat Almaty, hoping to deliver a result that puts the club on the verge of reaching the elite competition once again. The manager has spent the summer being questioned about the club's transfer activity, with many supporters underwhelmed by the club's signings so far being largely centred on players to develop instead of ready replacements or upgrades on the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi and Nicholas Kuhn, who have been sold this year. One player who has been linked in recent days is former Leicester City striker and England forward Jamie Vardy. The veteran goalscorer is a free agent after leaving the King Power stadium early in the summer and is reportedly keen on being reunited with Rodgers. The Celtic boss wouldn't be drawn on the reports. 'Listen, I would not speak about any individual player,' Rodgers said. 'Of course I worked really well with Jamie, he was brilliant for me in my time at Leicester. But there's been so many names floated about. I wouldn't disclose either way.' Celtic can add two new signings up to 24 hours before the first leg against Kairat Almaty but with just hours to go, Rodgers said he was preparing to go with the players he has. He said the current squad is dong well and improving but made it clear that new faces have to come in to improve the team in games at the highest level. 'I think that we gave a hint last season of what we can do when we improved the the squad last year and went into the Champions League in a really good way. 'We felt we showed what we can do at that level and for me the job is to try to develop and at minimum sustain that. 'For that you need that constant improvement of your squad. 'But currently where this group's at with what we have, the players are doing very, very well. They're really focused and the training has been so good, been really intense and that's allowed us to keep improving. 'So we don't want to overthink this game. We know the magnitude of it. We know the consequence of it, however, it'll only look good for us if we play to the level that we want to play and that's what we're focused on.' Asked if he thought there was an element of waiting to see if the club reached the League Phase before knowing how heavily investment would be made in the squad, he said: 'I don't know. 'We just play the game and we'll see how we are at the end of the window.' While talk circulates about Celtic's transfer business, the players face an important task over two legs. Rodgers says they have to ignore speculation, shut out the noise and focus on the task at hand. 'It is a difficult part of the season, however the money will be in your bank every month and it'll be from Celtic,' he said. 'Whilst it is, you need to perform. 'So you don't need to worry about anything else. 'I respect and acknowledge that it's it can be tough, especially if it's 'Are you going to be here or are you not?' 'But Celtic pay your wages and while they do you focus on doing the very best you can for Celtic. We start that process every day and train be the very best that we can, pushing each other and demanding and then we'll take that into the games.' 'And in fairness to the players have been brilliant with that. 'You know, you see it in their attitude in the game, the energy in the games been very, very good. 'So now we have to keep this going.'
