Two Iconic Classic Rock Bands Join Forces For Epic Colorado Concert
The two bands played together as part of Simple Minds' 'Alive and Kicking' tour, which stopped at Denver's Ball Arena. The members of both bands appeared to be in great spirits and were active during the performance, really getting their rock on. 80s synth duo Soft Cell — who are most famous for their 1981 cover of "Tainted Love" — is also part of the tour.
Simple Minds, who are responsible for the hit song 'Don't You Forget About Me' from the 1985 film The Breakfast Club, consists of frontman Jim Kerr, 65, and guitarist Charlie Burchill, also 65, who are the two remaining original members of the band. Joining them on tour are a group of collaborators, including Gordy Goudie on guitar, Ged Grimes on bass, Cherisse Osei on drums, and Sarah Brown on backing vocals. Modern English, who put out the 1982 hit 'I Melt With You,' consists of vocalist Robbie Grey, guitarist Gary McDowell, bassist Mick Conroy, and keyboardist Stephen Walker, all original members of the band. They are joined by Gabriel Sullivan on guitar and Richard Chandler on drums.
In the coming days, the tour will play several dates in Texas and then move on to other areas of the United States through late June, where the tour will close out at the Ruoff Music Center in Noblesville, Indiana. From there, Simple Minds heads to Europe, where they will play the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands through the end of July.
As for Modern English, the band does not have any shows scheduled after the 'Alive and Kicking' tour just yet, at least not according to their official website.
Simple Mind has released a whopping 21 studio albums since they were formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 1977, as well as seven EPs. For their part, Modern English has eight studio albums to their name and an additional three EPs since their own formation in Essex in 1979.

Loni Love Says There's 'No Beef' Between Her And Tamar Braxton
Loni Love isn't interested in fighting with her former The Real co-host Tamar Braxton, and she's calling for their fall-out rumors to end. During an interview on Andy Cohen's Watch What Happens Live , Aug. 6, the 54-year-old comedian told Cohen that she had 'no beef' with Braxton, following the singer's recent apology for disparaging 'big back Cadillac' comments she made about her. Source: Frazer Harrison/ Derek White While chatting with The Breakfast Club' s Loren LoRosa ahead of the ceremony on June 8, Braxton apologized to Love for calling her a 'Big-Back Cadillac' during her recent interview with NeNe Leakes on May 14. The harsh insult didn't sting Love, because she had no clue they were beefin' in the first place. 'My thing is, you know, when all that went down, I was in Iceland, I didn't know what was going on,' the comic told Cohen on Wednesday. 'I didn't know anything, and then I got all this information. I'm like, 'You know what? People wanted me to respond?' I'm like, I never respond. Andrew, you know me,' Love chucked. 'I use my platform to entertain, inform and inspire, not to do beefs. If I was on your show, though, I would.' Braxton offered what appeared to be a heartfelt apology to Love during her candid conversation with LoRosa, saying it was never her intention to 'shame' her former co-host. However, she admitted that her feelings were still hurt and emotions remained raw over how things ended when she left The Real in 2016. 'I apologize for calling her a big-back Cadillac, not in any way did I want to shame her…. I've held on to my composure all of this time and never said nothing bad, you know. And that was just really a vulnerable moment,' she explained, noting how her comfortable repertoire with Leakes and a few cocktails led her to joke a little much. 'I apologize, Lonnie, I really want to have a conversation that could lead to reconciliation.' Notably in her interview with Leakes, Braxton opened up about the events that led to her alleged fallout with Love. She revealed that her exit wasn't just about contract issues with The Real producers. She claimed that, as both talent and a producer on the show, she became aware that Loni Love had allegedly held 'multiple meetings' behind the scenes aimed at getting her removed from the daytime talk show series. Braxton told LoRosa that when she caught wind of what was going on, she was 'devastated' because of their close 'friendship' at the time. Interestingly, she never went to Love to speak with her about the rumors after they emerged. 'It was just a lot. It was a lot. You know what? I mean?…[but] I just want to be very careful about the things that I say, because, like I said before, I want to be able to stand by the things that I say,' Braxton added. 'And on my healing journey, and when I watch things that are, not so much like me, in the now, I become, disappointed in myself, and I always want to show up as my best self, where I am proud of myself, and where I can physically see my growth and be happy about it.' Charlamagne Tha God Blesses Donald Trump With Donkey of The Day Following Truth Social Rant
Source: Getty Images / Charlamagne Tha God / Donald Trump We all knew it was coming. Charlamagne Tha God clapped back at Donald Trump by giving him 'Donkey of the Day.' It didn't take long, but on Monday, Charlamagne Tha God kicked off The Breakfast Club's work week by responding to Felon 47. Before he went in on Trump, he started off the Donkey of the Day segment by blasting YG's Donald Trump protest record 'FDT' before accusing the current occupant of the White House of using him and other ridiculous things to distract from important issues after Trump called the radio host a 'racist sleazebag.' We care about your data. See our privacy policy. The Breakfast Club host pointed out in his retort that he didn't bring up race once while he was blasting Trump's 'big beautiful bill,' which the radio host, born Lenard McKelvey, admitted he would benefit from because of his tax bracket, but notes will harm millions of Americans. Charlamagne also slammed Trump and Homeland Security for terrorizing, detaining, and deporting lawfully residing immigrants while contributing, and also his unjust firing of Labor Statistics Chief Erika McEntarfer after she just did her job, reported on the terrible job numbers. While everyone was happy to hear Charlamagne call out Trump again, some folks didn't appreciate him still 'both-siding' the conversation by bringing up Joe Biden in his takedown of Orange Mussolini. 'Here's my issue he was playing contrarian and both sides so hard that the orange man used him in one of his ads. He directly has blood on his hands so Lenard put himself & worse others into the current state of affairs,' a post on X, formerly Twitter. Fair. You can see more reactions below. Charlamagne slams ‘The View' for not featuring any conservative guests
'The Breakfast Club' host Charlamagne tha God slammed 'The View' on Monday for lacking conservative voices on the show. 'Thank you, Lara Trump, for having me on 'My View.' I enjoyed the conversation. I think it's ridiculous that 'The View' has had … 102 left-leaning guests and zero conservatives,' Charlamagne said on 'The Breakfast Club' on Monday, after appearing on Fox News' 'My View with Lara Trump' on Saturday. Advertisement 'That is ridiculous to have a platform and … only talk to people that you agree with. That makes no sense whatsoever to me,' he said of the liberal ABC daytime talk show, which features Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg, among other hosts. None of the show's six current hosts, including former Donald Trump aide Alyssa Farah Griffin, supported Trump in 2024. Charlamagne appeared on Lara Trump's Fox News show to share his thoughts on who should make a White House run in 2028 and the lack of viewpoint diversity in the media. 3 Charlamagne appeared on Lara Trump's Fox News show to share his thoughts on who should make a White House run in 2028. The ABC News program continued to display an overwhelming lack of balance during the first seven months of 2025 with 102 left-leaning guests and zero conservatives, according to the MRC. It was unclear how many Republicans or conservatives, if any, had been invited, who may have then declined. The MRC analyzed every episode of 'The View' from January 6, when the program returned from a winter hiatus, through July 25, and found that it failed to book a single right-leaning guest to discuss politics. The watchdog previously found in April that the show booked 63 liberal guests and zero conservatives. 3 None of the show's six current hosts, including former Donald Trump aide Alyssa Farah Griffin, supported Trump in 2024. Invision ''The View' is not shy about the fact that what they say and do is all meant to push the agenda of the Democratic Party, whether it's smearing Trump and his allies or specifically elevating Democratic politicians. It's why they've only spoken to liberals about politics on the show so far this year,' NewsBusters associate editor Nicholas Fondacaro told Fox News Digital. Fox News Digital reached out to representatives from 'The View' for comment.
