Alonzo Menifield vs. Oumar Sy prediction, pick, start time for UFC on ESPN 69
Alonzo Menifield and Oumar Sy meet Saturday in the main card opener of UFC on ESPN 69 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta. Check out this quick breakdown of the matchup from MMA Junkie analyst Dan Tom.
Last event: 3-2
UFC main cards, 2025: 52-43-1
Alonzo Menifield vs. Oumar Sy UFC on ESPN 69 preview
Menifield (16-5-1 MMA, 9-5-1 UFC) enters on the heels of a split decision win over Julius Walker in February. The result ended a two-fight skid of stoppage losses against Carlus Ulberg and Azamat Murzakanov. Prior to those setbacks, Menifield was on a solid run with four wins and one draw. He comes into the fight against Sy as a massive underdog, the highest line at the betting window of his UFC tenure. ... Sy (11-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) will aim to keep his professional record unblemished. Although Menifield has significantly more expereince under the UFC banner, Sy has looked great so far. In his debut, he submitted Tuco Tokkos in the opening round, and followed that up with a unanimous decision win over Da Woon Jung.
Alonzo Menifield vs. Oumar Sy UFC on ESPN 69 expert pick, prediction
Despite having more action-packed matchups and appropriate features like local Atlanta fighter Malcolm Wellmaker relegated to the prelims, the main card on ESPN kicks off with light heavyweights Alonzo Menifield and Oumar Sy.
In defense of the UFC matchmakers and their fetish for force-feeding us large men, Menifield and Sy could be an action-filled fight with an empathic ending given the athleticism and finishing potential on both sides.
However, given that both men don't mind grappling (to differing degrees), this could also quickly turn into a three-round artificial insemination reenactment that gets the crowd shouting all sorts of things.
Although a knockout is always on the table with someone like Menifield, I'll officially pick Sy to piss off the live audience by grinding his way to another unanimous decision win.
Alonzo Menifield vs. Oumar Sy UFC on ESPN 69 odds
The oddsmakers and the public are heavily favoring the French fighter, listing Sy -800 and Menifield +520 via FanDuel.
Alonzo Menifield vs. Oumar Sy UFC on ESPN 69 start time, how to watch

Rory McIlroy Admits He Didn't Care About Making Cut at U.S. Open
Rory McIlroy Admits He Didn't Care About Making Cut at U.S. Open originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Going into the 2025 U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club, Masters Champion Rory McIlroy was considered among the favorites to win his second major championship of the year. Advertisement After watching him play his first and second rounds, though, it became quickly clear that McIlroy was never going to be in contention to win thanks to his laissezfaire attitude on the course. McIlroy ended up making the cut by a slim margin on Friday afternoon and qualifying for the weekend, but when speaking to the media after his third round on Saturday, it appears that he may not have been too happy about that result. Rory McIlroy at Quail HollowAaron Doster-Imagn Images 'It's much easier being on the cut line when you don't really care if you're here for the weekend or not," McIlroy said on Saturday, according to ESPN's Paolo Uggetti. "I was sort of thinking 'Do I really want two more days here or not?'' Advertisement After an opening four-over 74 was followed by a two-over 72 on Friday, McIlroy fired another four-over 74 on Saturday to sit at 10-over for the week, which is currently in a tie for 53rd place. After is first two rounds of the tournament, McIlroy drew some backlash from the golf community after deciding not to talk to the media post-round. While he is not obligated to give an interview, as one of the faces of the game and the biggest voice in the sport, it is expected that he make himself available at least one of the days, no matter how poorly he played. We will see how McIlroy comes out on Sunday in his final round, and whether or not he is able to find some inspiration and finish strong for the weekend. But based on his words and actions so far, it doesn't appear that he has much of a care when it comes to this tournament result. After UFC on ESPN 69, four fighters picked up an extra $50,000 for their performances in Atlanta. Check out the winners below – which do not include Phil Rowe's TKO comeback against Ange Loosa on the prelims. At one point during the fight, the live odds were 21-1 against Rowe to win. Performance of the Night: Jose Ochoa Jose Ochoa (8-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) went into the second round with Cody Durden (17-8-1 MMA, 6-6-1 UFC), but wasn't interested in staying there long. After a rough loss in his promotional debut, he got his first UFC win just 11 seconds into the middle frame. Performance of the Night: Malcolm Wellmaker Malcolm Wellmaker (10-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) continued to send shockwaves across the bantamweight division when he took out Kris Moutinho (14-7 MMA, 0-3 UFC) with one punch in the first round. It should be noted that Wellmaker did pretty much exactly what he was expected to do. He was the biggest betting favorite of the entire year in the UFC at as much as 20-1. Fight of the Night: Kamaru Usman vs. Joaquin Buckley Kamaru Usman (21-4 MMA, 16-3 UFC) used a wrestling-heavy attack to outwork Joaquin Buckley (21-7 MMA, 11-5 UFC) for a unanimous decision in the main event. Midnight Mania! ‘I Didn't Want To Suffer Anymore'
Welcome to Midnight Mania! Let's start things off by looking back at the three biggest stories from earlier today: Francis Ngannou's coach walked back his comments about a potential return to UFC. It looks like it's Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall or nothing in the UFC's limited heavyweight division. Daniel Cormier confused fight fans by giving an inaccurate update on Ben Askren's ongoing health issues. Askren is back in his home state of Wisconsin, but is still in the hospital. We're hoping his condition continues to improve. Cody Garbrandt claims that sober Sean O'Malley looked worse at UFC 316 than when he was smoking weed. 'Suga' did put up a dud in his rematch with Merab Dvalishvili. Maybe quitting everything at once was a shock to O'Malley's system. Insomnia It makes sense why Ilia Topuria would make the jump to 155 pounds. Big stakes on the line for this weekend's main event at UFC Atlanta. Advertisement Kayla Harrison wants all the smoke from Amanda Nunes. Does anyone even listen anymore? This will never get old (we love you Max). Babe Ruth? I don't know about that one. Does 'Rampage' need his own reality show? Is Dakota Ditcheva the best striker in women's MMA today? Is Charles Oliveira delusional or is Topuria's power more suited for featherweight? This has to be Fight of the Night, right? Yikes. How we liking this DBX 2 fight poster? Slips, rips, and KO clips Practice makes perfect! Get Jesus in the Octagon right now. Random Land Make this make sense... Worst pitch in recent memory? Sleep well, Maniacs! More MMA madness will be on the way. Advertisement More from
