'Real Housewives of O.C.' alum Lydia McLaughlin mourning death of brother shot by police
"My family has experienced an unimaginable loss. My brother, Geoff, was tragically taken and our hearts are shattered," McLaughlin wrote Sunday on Instagram.

Stirling, a Laguna Niguel resident, was pulled over Thursday night for a traffic violation on his motorcycle, the Newport Beach Police Department said in a news release.
"Shortly after being stopped, Stirling became uncooperative and assaulted the officer. During the ensuing violent altercation, Stirling managed to remove the department-issued taser from the officer's duty belt and attempted to deploy it multiple times against the officer," the department said. "At that point, an officer-involved shooting occurred."
Officers provided medical assistance on site, the release said. Stirling was pronounced dead after being taken to Hoag Hospital by personnel from the Newport Beach Fire Department.
"I can't believe we're facing this pain just 6 months after losing my best friend and mother," McLaughlin wrote, referring to mom Judy Stirling, who died last October after a private battle with breast cancer. "I know they're both with Jesus now, and He's walking with me through this darkness. One step at a time.
"Thank you to everyone who has been praying for us."

A resident who declined to be identified because of privacy concerns told the Daily Pilot on Friday that she was in her second-floor bedroom nearby when she heard what sounded like gunfire.
'All of a sudden they had the helicopters go in and they had the police sirens, then there was probably five shots, bop bop bop bop bop,' she said.
Stirling had been charged with felony arson in March and was scheduled to appear for arraignment Monday, the Pilot reported. It was unclear whether the shooting had any connection to that appearance.
The state attorney general announced Friday that it was investigating the shooting, in line with California law.

"Lydia - I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your brother! My heart hurts for you and your family. Peace be with you," "RHOC" star Vicki Gunvalson wrote in comments on a separate Instagram post on Good Friday.
McLaughlin was on "RHOC" during its eighth and 12th seasons. Those seasons aired in 2013 and 2017, respectively.
Lizzie Rovzek, who appeared in episodes scattered over five seasons of "RHOC," wrote, "Love you so much. Amen" on that post, which included the sentence "He heals the brokenhearted and binds their wounds."
The post announcing Stirling's death had comments turned off.

What to know about FPC Bryan According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP), FPC Bryan houses 626 inmates. The facility usually holds nonviolent offenders, where inmates work landscaping and maintenance, to avoid repeatedly checking in and out of a main prison facility, according to The Associated Press. Before her transfer, Maxwell was at a federal correctional institute in Tallahassee, Fla. These are low-to-medium-security prisons that may have perimeters that are double-fenced, and inmates are more limited in their movements, according to the BOP. Similar to other federal prison camps around the country, of which there are seven, according to the agency, some facilities don't even have fences. FPC Bryan's high-profile names Maxwell isn't the only high-profile name housed at FPC Bryan, according to central Texas' KCEN-TV. The prison is home to Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes, who was sentenced to 11 years in prison for defrauding investors out of hundreds of millions of dollars. Jen Shah of 'The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,' who was sentenced to 78 months in prison for running a nationwide telemarketing fraud scheme, is also at the Bryan, Texas, facility. Public reaction to Ghislane Maxwell's transfer Actress Alicia Arden, an Epstein accuser, spoke out against Maxwell's transfer on 'Banfield.' Arden, alongside attorney Gloria Allred, was on Ashleigh Banfield's show to discuss the possibility of grand jury transcripts being unsealed in the sex trafficking case against Maxwell. 'I think that she should be moved back to the facility where she was, and that's where she's serving her time,' Arden told NewsNation. 'Why should she be moved to a lower facility with not as much protection and with more freedom there?' Maxwell was convicted of sex trafficking in connection with Epstein in 2021 and is serving a 20-year prison sentence. She is currently appealing her conviction to the Supreme Court.

Burgers, badges and back-up: Newport Beach turns out for National Night Out
More than 700 people turned out Tuesday night at Bonita Canyon Sports Park for the Newport Beach Police Department's 24th annual National Night Out event. In addition to the food, games and crafts activities the visitors also found opportunities to interact with K9 officers, the Mounted Unit, Animal Control and SWAT, and collect crime prevention tips during the annual gathering also known as 'America's Night Out Against Crime.' At the police volunteer table, Susan Munthe and Pam Parker, both graduates of the Citizen's Police Academy, shared information about home security. 'As part of crime prevention we alert the public ways to protect their home,' said Munthe. 'The NBPD has a free home service where they visit the home,' Parker added. 'They check inside and out, tell you where to put cameras, prune back bushes, protect the placement of a safe.' Newport Beach residents Doris and Marty Melnick said they appreciated the time the police had spent answering questions about protecting the neighborhood as a result of a previous crime event. Nearby was the popular Mounted Unit, where NBPD horses endured lots of petting from the kids. Officer Nate Farris said the unit has expanded to four horses that are taken on frequent field trips as part of the community awareness. 'We go where there are large crowds, like the beach, Fashion Island, parks,' said Farris. Dispatch officer Chelsea Luitwieler manned the 911 activity table where children could find coloring books, cards and games. 'These are so kids can learn what to do when they need 911 [help],' Luitwieler explained. 'The materials teach them to learn their phone numbers and address.'

Bucks County Community College dean placed on leave; charged in CB West break in
The Doylestown man accused of breaking into a Central Bucks high school where he showered, stole food and other items was hired as an interim high-level dean at the Bucks County Community College last month. Albert McLaughlin, 47, is accused of breaking into Central Bucks West High School in Doylestown on Sunday morning by squeezing between sections of chain-link fence surrounding a portion of the building under renovation, according to a probable cause affidavit. He is facing a felony charge of burglary and related misdemeanors; he remains incarcerated in Bucks County Corrections Center in lieu of $100,000 bail as of Thursday. He had no legal representative listed on the docket Thursday. More Bucks County News Bucks County authorities looking for prisoner who failed to return from work release BCCC spokesman Daniel Kanak confirmed an Albert McLaughlin is on administrative leave. He did not return voice and email messages seeking more information. Central Bucks Regional Police on Thursday referred a question about McLaughlin's employment to the community college. McLaughlin was hired as interim vice-president of enrollment management at the Newtown Township community college in July, according to his Linked-In bio. He previously worked for four months as a performance coach for a plumbing and HVAC company and for two years as a senior director of operations for a specialty travel company, according to his Linked-in bio. Central Bucks Regional Police allege that surveillance video showed McLaughlin inside the school collecting items and placing them on a wheeled cart. Some items were stashed inside an unlocked office. Among the items he is accused of stealing are five T-shirts including one with the words, 'Run this Town' on the back, a pair of shorts he was wearing, a backpack and a coffee mug, according to the affidavit. Each item was valued at about $30, the affidavit said. McLaughlin also allegedly entered the school's infirmary and rearranged some supplies, but the school was not immediately able to confirm if any items were removed, the affidavit said. A Central Bucks Regional Police Officer also found the T-shirt and shorts McLaughlin was wearing when he was seen entering the school and a vape pen inside the same unlocked office where he allegedly stashed most of the miscellaneous items he had collected.
