The deputy in question was identified by the Houston Chronicle and AOL as Jennifer Escalera, hired by the department in 2021A Texas sheriff's deputy is under investigation after posting a viral TikTok suggesting she might write more traffic tickets because she 'didn't get cracked' the night before — which is slang for having sex.
The now-deleted clip shows a uniformed Harris County deputy writing in a notepad beneath the caption: 'Didn't get cracked last night so everyone is getting a ticket…'
Her name tag was visible, and though parts of her badge were blurred, the department confirmed that internal affairs had opened an investigation, according to Fox 26 and the Houston Chronicle.
In a statement obtained by Fox 26, the Precinct 5 Constable's Office said: 'Our administration is aware and internal affairs has opened an investigation. We have no other comment at this time."
The deputy has not been officially named by the department, but the Chronicle and AOL identified her as Jennifer Escalera, who reportedly joined the Harris County Constable's Office in September 2021.
Her TikTok account, now deleted, included multiple other in-uniform videos — including ones about motherhood and working in law enforcement — though it's unclear whether those are part of the current investigation, according to AOL and the Houston Chronicle.
Escalera's TikTok account, under the handle @ms.escaleraaa, reportedly featured a number of videos in which she appeared in uniform before it was taken down.
While some clips blurred her badge, her name tag remained visible — raising questions about departmental policy and professionalism in public-facing posts, per the Chronicle.

"It's very unprofessional," a Precinct 5 resident told Fox 26. "You shouldn't be doing things like that. When you're a professional, you carry yourself a certain way. What you do outside of work is cool, but I don't think she should've done that."
"It makes them look unprofessional when they start posting videos like that," another resident, Alex Fitch, told the outlet. "You can't take them seriously. Then they wonder why, when you see them, they say, 'Why don't you respect me?' or 'Why are you talking to me like that?' Well, you don't treat yourself like a woman, and you ain't treating yourself like a police officer."
The department did not immediately respond to a request for comment, and has not confirmed whether Escalera remains on active duty during the review.
No disciplinary actions have been announced, and the scope of the internal probe remains unclear — including whether it extends to the deputy's other TikTok content.

'Ketamine Queen' accused of selling Matthew Perry fatal dose gets September trial date

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A woman charged with selling Matthew Perry the dose of ketamine that killed him is headed for a September trial. Jasveen Sangha's trial — the only one forthcoming in the death of the 'Friends' star after four other defendants reached plea agreements with prosecutors — is now set to begin Sept. 23 after an order Tuesday from a federal judge in Los Angeles. The 42-year-old Sangha, who prosecutors say was known to her customers as 'The Ketamine Queen,' is charged with five counts of ketamine distribution, including one count of distribution resulting in death. She has pleaded not guilty and has been held in federal custody since her arrest last year. Her trial had been scheduled to start Aug. 19, but the judge postponed it for the fourth time since her April 2024 indictment after both sides agreed it should be moved. Sangha's lawyers said they needed the time to go through the huge amount of evidence they have received from the prosecution and to finish their own investigation. Sangha was one of the two biggest targets in the investigation of Perry's death, along with Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who pleaded guilty to ketamine distribution last month. Perry's personal assistant, his friend and another doctor also entered guilty pleas and are cooperating with prosecutors. All are awaiting sentencing. Perry, who was found dead at age 54 at his home on Oct. 23, 2023, had been getting ketamine from his regular doctor for treatment of depression, an increasingly common off-label use for the surgical anesthetic. But prosecutors say when the doctor wouldn't give Perry as much as he wanted, he illegally sought more from Plasencia, then still more from Sangha, who they say presented herself as 'a celebrity drug dealer with high quality goods.' Perry's assistant and friend said in their plea agreements that they acted as middlemen to buy large amounts of ketamine for Perry from Sangha, including 25 vials for $6,000 in cash a few days before his death. Prosecutors allege that included the doses that killed Perry.

Carriage horse collapses in NYC's Hell's Kitchen

A carriage horse collapsed in Hell's Kitchen Tuesday afternoon. It happened at around 3 p.m. at 51st Street and 11th Avenue. Video from the scene shows the horse on the ground, apparently deceased. Workers dragged the animal into a trailer. Witnesses told CBS News New York the horse collapsed and started shaking. The horse, carriage, and driver all fell into the street, witnesses said. The incident comes amid an ongoing citywide discussion about the use of carriage horses. Just last month, carriage horse handler Ian McKeever was found not guilty in an animal abuse trial after the carriage horse Ryder collapsed in Hell's Kitchen in 2022.
