The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has apprehended Jagsir Singh, AKA Baaz Sran, who had been declared a proclaimed offender in 2016. He had been absconding for nine years by frequently changing his identity and location. During his time on the run, Singh gained popularity as a singer on social media platforms like YouTube and Instagram, amassing millions of views under a different identity. The Chandigarh unit of the NCB apprehended Singh, a resident of Sirsa in Haryana, who was wanted in NCB CZU Crime No. 14/2015 involving the seizure of 36.15 kg of opium. In May, the NCB published his details in leading newspapers and announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for information leading to his arrest. Based on credible inputs received thereafter, the NCB team successfully apprehended him on August 6. This arrest marks a significant success in the NCB's ongoing efforts against drug trafficking and its associated networks. Abilympics participants share stories of resilience

Lucknow: When Budh Singh, a professional artist with a locomotor disability from Delhi, entered the competition floor of the North Zone Regional Abilympics and Conference 2025, he was not just there to win, but to represent a life of quiet resilience and extraordinary creativity. Teaching art to children with intellectual disabilities and working as a part-time tailor, Singh's story reflects the spirit of the Abilympics. "Art has always been my voice when words failed me. There were times when self-doubt, financial struggles, and lack of support made me question my path—but I held on to my brush like a lifeline. This platform makes me feel seen, valued, and inspired to do more. Today, I not only create art, I teach it—because if it helped me heal, maybe it can help someone else too," said Singh. He is not the only one. Participants like Nirlesh Pandey, a hearing-impaired BTech graduate from IIT Kanpur, and Mohammad Afzal Ansari, an MBA holder with a learning disability caused by the 2001 Bhuj earthquake, emphasised how the Abilympics gave them recognition and purpose. With the help of a translator, Nirlesh Pandey spoke to TOI, "I never let my hearing impairment define me. Being at the Abilympics connects me with people who share that same fire to overcome. " Mohammad Afzal Ansari, a participant in the desktop publishing category, shared, "That earthquake changed my body, but not my spirit." The two-day event that kicked off on Friday saw over 100 participants. It was inaugurated by Narendra Kumar Kashyap, minister for Backward Classes Welfare and Disabled Empowerment of Uttar Pradesh. Organised by the National Abilympic Association of India (NAAI) in collaboration with Sarthak Educational Trust, the participants competed in over a dozen categories including photography, painting & decorating, basket making, crochet, massage therapy, hairdressing, cake decoration, etc.

Yo Yo Honey Singh reminisces Mafia Mundeer era

Rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh recently took fans on a nostalgic ride, revisiting his iconic Mafia Mundeer days. The rapper shared a suave picture of himself in a maroon suit on Instagram, accompanied by a caption that read, 'I don't believe in revenge, I believe in punishment. They are two different things — Never forget that I am the founder of MAFIA MUNDEER #gloriousdays #yoyohoneysingh.' Mafia Mundeer, once the powerhouse collective of Indian rap, was envisioned by Honey Singh as a creative space unbound by contracts. The name was coined by Singh and his mentor Raj Brar, who taught him songwriting. The group became a launchpad for multiple stars, including Raftaar, Ikka, Lil Golu, Alfaaz, Money Aujla, J Star, Leo Grewal, and Ninja. While reflecting on the past, Singh is also making waves in the present. He recently collaborated with actress Shehnaaz Gill for a promotional track for the upcoming Punjabi film Ikk Kudi. Shehnaaz, who is producing the film, shared fun moments from the shoot on Instagram, highlighting Singh's humorous personality with the caption, '@yoyohoneysingh's humour is so desi.' Honey Singh responded with a close-up photo of Shehnaaz, writing, 'We made this jatti look Jamaican. Promotional song for movie Ikk Kudi.' Directed by Amarjit Singh Saron, Ikk Kudi marks another big move for Shehnaaz, who rose to fame through Bigg Boss 13 and gained massive popularity for her bond with late actor Sidharth Shukla, fondly remembered as SidNaaz.
