American Love Story recreates Daryl Hannah's date with JFK Jr. after casting Mariel Hemingway's daughter Dree

Daily Mail09-07-2025
One of John F. Kennedy Jr.'s famous exes has seemingly been cast in FX's American Love Story, as evidenced by new photos from the New York City set.
Actress Dree Hemingway was spotted filming alongside Paul Kelly as John F. Kennedy Jr. for what appeared to be a date scene in New York City on Tuesday, which comes after their co-star Sarah Pidgeon had a terse response to haters.
While neither Hemingway - the great-granddaughter of literary great Ernest Hemingway and daughter of actress Mariel Hemingway - nor the network has confirmed the casting, there appears to be one big tell.
Hemingway was spotted wearing a dress that is strikingly similar to the one Hannah was spotted wearing while attending the Rhode Island wedding of JFK Jr.'s cousin Edward Kennedy Jr. in October 1993.
Hannah and JFK Jr. dated for five years, after reconnecting at the 1988 wedding of his aunt Lee Radziwill, though they knew each other years earlier since their families had vacationed together in Saint Martin.
After they broke up, JFK Jr. started dating Carolyn Bessette, who he would marry in 1996 before their tragic deaths in a plane crash off the coast of Cape Cod in 1999.

Hemingway was spotted wearing a brown dress with unique patterns that's quite similar - but not identical - to the one Hannah wore to the 1993 Rhode Island wedding.
She also wore a matching light brown coat over her dress and accessorizing with brown sunglasses and a small brown purse with her long blonde locks flowing over her shoulders.
The actress completed her look with a pair of brown heeled boots for her day on the set, as she was seen kissing Kelly and getting out of a yellow NYC taxi cab.
Kelly was spotted wearing a light brown dress shirt sans tie with a dark brown plaid suit coat over it for the scene.
He completed his look with blue dress pants and brown shoes for his day on the set on Tuesday.
Hemingway was also seen cutting loose with some impromptu dance moves between takes on the set.
It's unclear if the show plans on re-creating the 1993 wedding or if the scenes they're shooting are from a different point and time in JFK Jr.' and Hannah's relationship.
Hemingway joins a cast that also includes Sarah Pidgeon as Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, Naomi Watts as Jackie Kennedy, Grace Gummer as Caroline Kennedy, Alessandro Nivola as Calvin Klein (who Bessette worked for), Leila George as Calvin's daughter Kelly, Sydney Lemmon as Caroline's sister Lauren, who also died in the tragic plane crash, and Noah Fearnley as Michael Bergen, Caroline's ex who alleged that they continued a sexual relationship while she was married to JFK Jr.

Fans have already been bashing American Love Story creator Ryan Murphy for wardrobe and fashion choices.
Murphy responded to the fickle fans in an interview with Variety, stating they are doing the same thing to actress Sarah Paulson that media and others did to the real Carolyn Bessette.
'There were comments like, "I hate that coat, Carolyn would have never worn that. That was just a coat we threw on for color. People are writing "How dare you use the No. 35 Birkin bag? She wore a 40!" Yes we have a 40 but we just threw on a bag from another costume department because that was the sound stage we were on,' he said.
'They're doing to our Carolyn, what they did to the real-life Carolyn. It's not fair,' Ryan added to Variety.

Julianne Hough sells Hollywood Hills home after slashing price by nearly $2MILLION

Julianne Hough has finally sold her Hollywood Hills home but not until she slashed the price by a considerable amount. The 36-year-old Dancing With The Stars personality officially sold her property in the Los Angeles celebrity enclave for $6.35million. However, it wasn't exactly the return she had expected initially as she originally listed the home for $7.95million back in April. The three bedroom, four bathroom home features 3,000-square-feet of living space. No doubt the new owner will have plenty of room on the property as it sits on nearly half an acre of land. The home itself was built during Hollywood's heyday in the late 1930s as it was recently renovated by celeb-favorite designer Jake Arnold. The 36-year-old Dancing With The Stars personality officially sold her property in the Los Angeles celebrity enclave for $6.35million The interior of the home is bright as the living room has floor-to-ceiling windows to feel a connection to the outdoors. As if that wasn't enough melding between the inside and outside the dining area and kitchen which leads to a covered terrace which is perfect for hosting. It also features a large swimming pool for those hot California summer months. Perhaps the most stunning feature on the property are the lush gardens as the landscaping was done by Trilling Landscape. And no doubt the owners will be enjoying the 'sanctuary' that is the primary suite as it includes a luxurious bathroom and a private patio. Brandon Piller and Joey Ben-Zvi of The Agency held the listing. Back in 2016, Julianne talked about working with designer Jake as she revealed the property represents a safe space for herself. She said at the time: 'My life is instant. I'm always on the go, and I travel a lot. The interior of the home is bright as the living room has floor-to-ceiling windows to feel a connection to the outdoors 'So to balance it all, I've created a safe, special place where I feel like my true self.' Julianne had previously lived in the home with her now ex-husband and former NHL player Brooks Laich. The exes were first romantically linked in 2013, married in Idaho in summer 2017, and were divorced by 2022. After the divorce Julianne moved on with a new home in New York City. Julianne currently co- hosts Dancing With The Stars alongside Alfonso Ribeiro. The 34th season of the popular reality competition series is set to begin on September 16 as the confirmed celebrity contestants include Jenn Affleck, Alix Earle, Robert Irwin, and Whitney Leavitt so far.

‘Love is the key, right?' Evergreen Venus Williams plays on and on at 45

'Still haven't seen the Rolling Stones,' says Venus Williams, smiling, as she reminisced about her unforgettable professional tennis debut at the age of 14 in Oakland, California, an occasion that justified years of hype surrounding her stratospheric potential. Her first ever professional tennis match took place next door to a Rolling Stones concert. Now, 31 years later, at 45 years old, Williams is still here. Three weeks after returning to professional tennis for the first time in 16 months with a straight sets singles victory over the then world No 35 Peyton Stearns at the Citi Open in Washington, which marked her as the second-oldest woman in history to win a WTA Tour-level singles match and also silenced criticisms about her enduring presence on the tour, Williams now takes her comeback to the Cincinnati Open. Once one of the most precocious youngsters of her time, a US Open finalist by the age of 17, Williams continues to compete. She is one of the greatest tennis players of all time in her own right, a seven-time singles grand slam champion, Olympic gold medallist and former No 1 in singles. Despite all she has achieved, her enduring love for her sport means she continues to step on the practice court every day with the aim of being the best player she can be. 'Love is the key, right?' says Williams. 'If you don't love it, then get out of it. If you can, if you have that luxury, not everyone has that luxury. For me, I think a lot of the motivation for me is just to come back and try to play in the best health that I can. 'I never stopped hitting the ball, even when I was away, not as intensely as you would if you were playing tournaments, but I was still going out there. And I think that at the end of the day, you have to live your life on your own terms. Your terms should be yours. Doesn't matter what anyone else says or what anyone else thinks, if you get to live life on your own terms of life, [do] that. And I firmly believe in that.' This comeback, however, is not merely about striking a tennis ball. Last month, Williams revealed she has suffered with fibroids for years, non-cancerous tumours that develop in and around the uterus, which left her with excruciating symptoms including pelvic pain and heavy bleeding. In addition to the significant impact fibroids has had on Williams' everyday life, it also affected her tennis career. She says she had been misdiagnosed for years. Last week, in the aftermath of her returning in Washington, Williams posted a series of videos from exactly a year ago when she was undergoing an open myomectomy surgery to remove the fibroids and a large focal adenomyoma in her uterus, tissue from the lining of the uterus that had grown in her uterine wall. 'I was told I was inoperable,' she wrote. 'I was told I could bleed to death on the table. I was told to get a surrogate and forget the hope to carry my own children. I was misdiagnosed. I went untreated for years and years and years.' As she has returned to the court, Williams has used the publicity around her return to shine a light on women's medical issues. 'I just remember after my surgery, I was feeling so much gratitude but I was able to have the resources to finally get through that, and I remember that was the biggest feeling that I had. And at that point, I was nowhere near playing professional tennis, but now a year later, I'm in a completely different space, and I have a clean bill of health, thank God, and I'm ready to play and compete.' The next competitive challenge for Williams will be the 22-year-old world No 51 Jéssica Bouzas Maneiro. On the day Bouzas Maneiro was born, 24 September 2002, Williams had already won four grand slam singles titles, reached No 1 and contested the previous three consecutive major finals against her younger sister, Serena. The elder Williams sibling said the US swing was the focus for her return and she is unlikely to compete after the US Open. The rest is unknown. 'I'm very much in the moment,' she said. 'I don't think you should ever rule me out. That's all I can say.'
