One dead, 144 injured in Eidul Azha animal sacrifice accidents across country

A young man was killed and more than 140 people injured in animal-related incidents during Eidul Azha sacrifices across Pakistan, Express News reported.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Swabi district, a tragic accident occurred in the Topi area when a sacrificial cow kicked a young man in the chest during the slaughter process. The youth died on the spot, local media reported.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident happened in the village of Maini Loya Lar while the animal was being restrained with ropes. The body was transferred to a hospital for medico-legal formalities before being handed over to the family. The sudden death plunged the local community into mourning.
Meanwhile, in Punjab, at least 144 people were injured in similar incidents involving livestock during slaughter rituals, according to Rescue 1122. Of those injured, 33 sustained serious injuries and were admitted to various hospitals, while the remaining 111 were treated on site or discharged after receiving first aid.
'Accidents occurred in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and other districts as animals broke free during the sacrifice process,' a Rescue 1122 spokesperson said.
Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution during the handling and sacrifice of animals to avoid further injuries or loss of life.

Eidul Azha: CM orders foolproof security arrangements
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered the implementation of foolproof security measures across the province in view of Eidul Azha. The CM also issued a comprehensive set of instructions to ensure smooth traffic flow, public safety, and strict monitoring of transport fares and cattle markets. The CM directed the authorities concerned to enhance security arrangements in and around cattle markets, which were expected to see heavy public presence during the Eid season. The CM emphasized that security at all cattle markets must be tightened, particularly in major cities like Lahore and Multan, to safeguard citizens and prevent any untoward incidents. The CM Maryam directed that traffic monitoring be carried out round-the-clock in Lahore and other urban centers to manage congestion caused by Eid-related activities. Instructions were issued to improve traffic flow around cattle markets in key cities and to deploy traffic personnel where needed. To ensure fair treatment of the public during the festive season, the CM also ordered strict enforcement of officially approved transport fares across Punjab. She directed that fare charts and fitness certificates be visibly displayed on bus windshields. She warned that overcharging the passengers would not be tolerated. Transporters found violating fare regulations would face legal action and commuters charged extra must be refunded on the spot. The CM directed the Livestock Department officials to remain present at cattle markets, to monitor animal health, ensure availability of veterinary services and assist the public in purchasing healthy animals. She directed senior administrative and police officers to remain in the field during the Eid holidays, ensuring timely response and on-ground supervision of all arrangements. CTD foils Eid terror plot, arrests three RAW-linked terrorists
Listen to article Punjab's Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Friday said it foiled a major terror plot by arresting three terrorists in Faisalabad linked to India's intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), Express News reported. According to a spokesperson for the CTD, the arrests were made during an intelligence-based operation conducted in Pathan Colony on Jhang Road. The terrorists were planning coordinated attacks in Lahore, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, and Pakpattan during Eidul Azha. The spokesperson said the terrorists were affiliated with the proscribed group Fitna Al-Khawarij and had crossed the border illegally on multiple occasions to meet RAW operatives in Srinagar and Rajasthan. A cache of explosives, detonators, and firearms was recovered from their possession, the CTD said. The CTD maintained that the terrorists had finalised plans to target key sites during the Eid holidays. A case has been registered in Faisalabad, and further investigation is under way. The spokesperson said the arrests helped avert what could have been large-scale destruction during the festive period, adding that efforts were ongoing to trace additional members of the network.
