The home of WDIV-TV reporter and anchor Hank Winchester was searched last week, authorities say.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Office confirmed that deputies were at Winchester's home in Beverly Hills, Michigan, on June 13 to assist in a search warrant. The sheriff's office directed further questions to the Beverly Hills Police Department, which is leading the investigation.
CBS News Detroit contacted Beverly Hills police for comment.
WDIV vice president and general manager Bob Ellis issued a statement on Wednesday, saying, "We here at Local 4 have been made aware of an external investigation regarding Hank Winchester. As of this time, he has been placed on administrative leave. While the investigation is ongoing — we won't make any further comments."
The Emmy Award-winning consumer investigative reporter joined the TV news station in 2001 and is known for his "Help Me Hank" segments, according to his bio on the station's website.

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Hundreds of people, some clutching candles or carrying flowers to lay in front of a memorial, gathered outside Minnesota's Capitol on Wednesday evening for a vigil to remember a prominent state lawmaker and her husband who were gunned down at their home . As a brass quintet from the Minnesota Orchestra played, Gov. Tim Walz wiped away tears and comforted attendees at the gathering for former House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, who were killed early Saturday in the northern Minneapolis suburbs. Colin Hortman, the Hortmans' son, embraced Walz and lay a photo of his parents on the memorial. The memorial, which sprang up outside the Capitol after the killings, features flowers, American flags, photos and sticky notes with such messages as, 'Thank you for always believing in me and in Minnesota' and 'We got this from here. Thank you for everything.' Wednesday's vigil also included a Native American drum circle, a string quartet and the crowd singing 'Amazing Grace.' Around the gathering, there was a heavy police presence, with law enforcement blocking off streets leading up to the Capitol and state troopers standing guard. The event didn't include a speaking program and attendees were instructed not to bring signs of any kind. The man charged in federal and state court with killing the Hortmans, Vance Boelter , is also accused of shooting another Democratic lawmaker, Sen. John Hoffman, and his wife, Yvette, at their home a few miles away in Champlin. They survived and are recovering. Federal prosecutors have declined to speculate about a motive. Boelter's attorneys have declined to comment on the charges. Hortman had served as the top House Democratic leader since 2017, and six years as speaker, starting in 2019. Under a power-sharing deal after the 2024 election left the House tied, her title became speaker emerita and Republican Rep. Lisa Demuth became speaker. Walz has described Hortman as his closest political ally and 'the most consequential Speaker in state history.' The Hortmans were alumni of the University of Minnesota, which held a midday memorial gathering on the Minneapolis campus. Rebecca Cunningham, the university's president, spoke during the event about the grief and outrage people are grappling with along with questions about how things got to this point. 'I don't have the answers to these questions but I know that finding answers starts with the coming together in community as we are today,' she said. Justin Baldoni's legal team has dropped its subpoena against Taylor Swift, which previously claimed Blake Lively's team was trying to extort the music star. The subpoena dropping was confirmed by a spokesperson for Lively (via TheWrap), with Lively's legal team saying they were 'pleased' that Baldoni's team stopped a 'harassing' probe into Swift and Lively's relationship. 'We supported the efforts of Taylor's team to quash these inappropriate subpoenas directed to her counsel and we will continue to stand up for any third party who is unjustly harassed or threatened in the process,' the spokesperson said. 'The Baldoni and Wayfarer team have tried to put Taylor Swift, a woman who has been an inspiration for tens of millions across the globe, at the center of this case since day one,' the statement continued. 'Exploiting Taylor Swift's celebrity was the original plan in Melissa Nathan's scenario planning document, and it continues to this day. Faced with having to justify themselves in federal court, they folded. At some point they will run out of distractions from the actual claims of sexual harassment and retaliation they are facing.' In a letter filed in court last week (via THR) from Baldoni's lawyer Bryan Freedman, Baldoni's team alleges that Michael Gottlieb, who is representing Lively, reached out to the legal firm that represents Swift, Venable. According to the letter, Gottlieb 'demanded that Ms. Swift release a statement of support for Ms. Lively, intimating that, if Ms. Swift refused to do so, private text messages of a personal nature' would be released. Freedman's letter went on to say that Swift's legal team responded to the request in at least one written message. The letter Freedman entered into court is looking to have those communications released, claiming that they prove that Lively's team is essentially trying to intimidate a witness in Baldoni and Lively's ongoing legal battle. In response to the letter, Gottlieb said that the accusations are 'categorically false,' and that the use of anonymous sources is 'cowardly' from Freedman.
