On St. Patrick's Day, Suzanna Son hops on a video call from the back seat of a moving car. She has just touched down in Chicago, where she's filming a top-secret role in Season 3 of Ryan Murphy's
Monster
, which centers on the notorious Wisconsin killer Ed Gein. 'Have you ever done an interview on the move like this?' she asks with a giggle.
An interview on the go is fitting for Son, who seems to be in a state of perpetual motion. Her breakout role came three and a half years ago, when she played Strawberry, a 17-year-old doughnut shop worker in the
Fear Street: Prom Queen
, a Netflix-backed slasher directed by Matt Palmer and based on the novel of the same name in R. L. Stine's book series.

To get into the headspace of each new character she inhabits, Son assigns them a personal scent.
Prom Queen
's Megan, whom she describes as a stoner who's always game to lend you a lighter, smells like weed and vanilla
To tap into her role on
Monster
, she wears a perfume that has notes of gasoline, saffron, and mandarin. She says Megan is her favorite character to date, so much so that she's been wearing the character's perfume—

With both
Fear Street
and
Monster
, Son is trying on a new personal scent as well: horror. 'I like playing characters who react the way a normal person might react to horror,' Son says. She's a fan of the genre: 'They feel like dreams I had as a child,' she adds. 'I used to have terrible nightmares, and nothing really reminds me of those nightmares other than a very esoteric horror movie.' Now Son finds herself down the rabbit hole, creating horror that feeds other people's nightmares. During the first day of shooting
Fear Street
, Son came face-to-face with one of her own fears: screaming in public. (She calls the experience shooting the film 'Matt Palmer's boot camp.')
'I like playing characters who react the way a normal person might react to horror.'
Fear Street
is her first project without a musical element. Son calls music her first love, and her previous roles in
The Idol
and
Red Rocket
showcase her vocal range—anyone who's seen the latter likely has Son's haunting performance of 'Bye Bye Bye' by NSYNC (slow, longing, a bit irreverent) burned in their frontal cortex.
Son isn't turning her back on music—in fact, she's 'very close' to releasing five or six songs of her own. 'I want to start singing live this year,' she says. But don't expect to see her headlining Lollapalooza anytime soon: 'It won't be crazy big. Just $30 tickets, little shows here and there...I want to start small and have my audience grow with me.' When she's writing songs, she weaves the roles she's played into her lyrics. On her upcoming release, she says some songs are from her perspective, and some are filtered through her characters.

Clearly, her work life won't be slowing down anytime soon, but IRL, Son is laid-back, like California personified. She likes to longboard; she cooks a lot; she's into knolling (she recommended I check out the Reddit community r/knolling, where people painstakingly arrange objects into either parallel lines or right angles). This year, she's trying to go out more.
Toward the end of the call, I tell Son I'm curious—if she were to play herself in a movie, what perfume would she choose? After some careful consideration, she selects
Hair by Sami Knight for Rehab; makeup by Alexandra French at Forward Artists; manicure by Jolene Brodeur at The Wall Group; produced by Anthony Federici at Petty Cash Production; photographed at Malibu Creek Ranch.

Hip hop collides with Silicon Valley in new SF musical "Co-Founders"
A new hip hop musical tells a uniquely Bay Area story: A young Oakland coder hacks her way into San Francisco's most competitive startup accelerator, intent on saving her home from gentrification. Driving the news: " Co-Founders" draws from the region's hip hop roots while incorporating traditions from soul, gospel, funk, jazz, R&B and more to pay homage to the people who make Silicon Valley what it is. Zoom in: The musical explores the tension underlying a Black woman trying to enter circles she's long been excluded from while investigating the perils of tech when it comes to grief. The brainchild of Ryan Nicole Austin, Beau Lewis and Adesha Adefela, "Co-Founders" is now playing at American Conservatory Theater's Strand Theater (1127 Market St.) through July 6. What they're saying: The fingerprint of historical figures like the Black Panthers is reflected in the music and parallels the grit needed to pave your way in the tech world, according to Austin. "That's where the synergy is with the spirit of the entrepreneur," she told the San Francisco Chronicle. "It's like, 'Hey, I gotta make something out of nothing, and even though everything around me says no, I know that I have it within me to say yes.'" My thought bubble: This musical tackles head-on the intersections of tech, race and class, reminding us that seemingly siloed corners of the Bay are never as disparate as they seem. Fun fact: The production includes interactions between on-stage actors and a holographic avatar controlled by an actor backstage via live-motion capture.

Steve Jobs' daughter Eve is marrying a British Olympian — and the guest list is wild
Eve Jobs, the youngest daughter of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, is reportedly set to marry British Olympic equestrian Harry Charles this summer in what is shaping up to be one of the most high-profile weddings of the season. The ceremony in August will take place in the Cotswolds, a countryside enclave known for its celebrity residents and royal connections, according to Tatler. Jobs, 26, a Stanford graduate and accomplished equestrian herself, is also making a name in the fashion world, with modeling credits for Louis Vuitton and appearances on Paris runways. Her fiancé, Charles, 25, clinched a gold medal in team jumping at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The couple made their public debut at the Games last summer and reportedly became engaged shortly after. They share a mutual passion for equestrian sports, with Jobs once posting a congratulatory message after Charles' Olympic victory: 'TEAM GOLD!!!!!! Beyond proud of you my love!!!!' Guests expected to attend the wedding include former Vice President Kamala Harris, a longtime confidante of Laurene Powell Jobs, Eve's mother and one of the wealthiest philanthropists in the world. British royalty may also make an appearance, with Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi reportedly on the guest list, alongside tech heiresses like Jennifer and Phoebe Gates, daughters of Microsoft founder Bill Gates. Eve Jobs, born in 1998, grew up in Palo Alto with immense wealth but a deliberately grounded upbringing. Her father famously restricted his children from using the very devices he helped create. Her mother has stated publicly that the family's estimated $21.7 billion fortune will not be passed down 'If I live long enough, it ends with me,' she told the New York Times in 2020. Rather than rely on her family name, Jobs has forged her own path. She made her mark as both a competitive showjumper and a rising figure in high fashion. She is signed with DNA Models and has appeared on the cover of Vogue. Jobs' siblings — Reed, 33, and Erin, 29 — are expected to attend, but it remains unclear whether her half-sister, Lisa Brennan-Jobs, will be present. Lisa, now 47, has had a complicated public history with her late father, though she was reportedly by his side during his final days before he died in October 2011. Fashion watchers are speculating on Jobs' choice of dress. Known for her modern style and designer affiliations, she could opt for a couture piece — or perhaps even a subtle nod to her father's signature wardrobe with a design by Issey Miyake, the creator of Steve Jobs' signature black turtleneck.

Yes, George Clooney Has Seen The Pitt — Here's What the ER Vet Had to Say About Noah Wyle's New Medical Show
TV's erstwhile Dr. Ross speaks highly of Dr. Robby: During an appearance on Monday's Late Night With Seth Meyers, George Clooney sang ER co-star Noah Wyle's praises, marveling at his performance in the Max medical drama The Pitt. 'Have you guys seen that show?' Clooney asked Meyers' audience. 'It's so good, and I have to say: We've been really dear friends since [ER] — since we did the pilot of the show. He is just the most honorable, talented young man, [which] I get to say because I'm an old man, and I cannot be happier for his success on the show. The show is just a beautiful show, and he does just a great job with it.' More from TVLine The Pitt's Noah Wyle & Co. Talk Taking Robby to the Very Edge in Finale and 'Getting Mentally Healthy' in Season 2 The Pitt Season 2 Premise, Time Jump and Premiere Month Confirmed — Plus, Who Is (and Is Not) Returning Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale Trailer Offers First Glimpse at Maggie Smith Tribute - Watch Clooney's recognition followed an anecdote about his days as hotshot County General doc Doug Ross, and how often he struggled with some of the medical jargon. 'We used to do these things called oners,' he recalled. 'You've got to get 12 pages of dialogue out and nobody can screw up, or you have to start all over again. I'm at the very end of the oner, at Page 12, and I have one line — supraventricular tachyarrhythmia — and I'm telling you, I never got it! Literally! We did, like, 40 takes, and the rest of the cast is, like, 'Are you f–king kidding me?'' When Meyers pointed out that Wyle is once again faced with difficult doctor terminology, Clooney noted that Wyle 'never had trouble' on ER. 'He always could do it, and I hated him for that,' the Tony nominee deadpanned. Clooney and Wyle recently reunited with fellow ER castmates Anthony Edwards and Julianna Margulies at the April premiere of Clooney's Broadway show, Good Night, and Good Luck, which is up for five Tonys this weekend. CNN is set to broadcast the penultimate performance on Saturday, June 7. The Pitt, meanwhile, took home the Gotham Award for Breakthrough Drama Series on Monday. The streaming hit was previously renewed for Season 2, which is set to premiere in January 2026. The Pitt Season 2: Everything We Know View List Wyle recently visited TVLine's New York City studio and marked the 25th anniversary of an unforgettable ER episode — Season 6's 'Be Still My Heart,' which culminated in the gruesome stabbings of both Dr. Carter and med student Lucy Knight.
